• The average temperature for July in Dubai is 41.3°C (106.3°F). However, the Dubai temperature in July can reach a daytime high of 48.5°C (119.3°F) – the “feels like” temperature often significantly exceeds this.

• Overnight, the July temperature in Dubai only dips as far as 30.4°C (86.7°F); you get some reprieve from the sun, but it still feels sweltering even after dark.

• Swimming in the sea offers little reprieve from the outside air temperature in Dubai in July, as water temperatures rise to highs of 34.7°C (94.4°F).

The good news is that you will find little, if any, rain in Dubai in July. The bad news: expect to spend most of your days inside. Things do perk up in the evenings, but anything outdoors is still likely to bring on an immediate sweat.

There is little temperature difference between the start and end of July, but the humidity does rise over the month, making the “feels like” temperature much greater than the air temperature.

You are certainly not choosing Dubai in July for its weather, but there are plenty of ways the city can still be enjoyed in summer.

Dubai Special Events July 2026

Although large events tend to be scaled back in Dubai during the hottest summer months, the city still does its best to allure visitors to town with some tantalising indoor ideas to keep things interesting. Here are some interesting things to do in Dubai in July indoors:

• Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) – From 2 July until August 30, enjoy unbeatable sales, special offers, and prize draws citywide.
• Beat the Heat DXB Season 5 will be setting the groove at Dubai World Trade Centre for a series of summer evening music festivals from 11 July to 22 August 2026.
• Various venues, including some cinemas, will be screening World Cup Football games this month, so look out for special deals and promotions.
• There are several indoor summer fun runs scheduled across the city, including the Ibn Battuta Mall Indoor Run on 5 July and Dubai Outlet Mall Indoor Run on the 19 July, as well as Mallathon 2.0 which has indoor runs at Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Hills Mall, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira and Dubai Festival City from the 15 June until the 15 September from 6.00 am until 10.0 0am.
• 26 July sees Indie Soulfest with Bismil and Indian Ocean at the Coca-Cola Arena.

Suggested Things to Do in Dubai in July 2026

• Indoor skiing at Ski Dubai – hit the slopes with your skis or snowboards and try out the 400m entirely indoor slope at Mall of the Emirates.

• Take an underwater journey through Deep Dive Dubai, the deepest indoor swimming pool in the world.

Dubai Weather in June

The temperature in Dubai moves from hot to even hotter with an average daily maximum of 39.8°C (103.6°F).

Still, it’s not unusual to experience significantly hotter days up to 47.9°C (118.2°F), as well as days with higher than normal humidity. Temperatures drop to an average of 27.7°C (81.9°F) overnight.

Sea temperatures also rise from 30.4°C (87.8°F) up to 33°C (90.4°F) – you won’t get much reprieve from jumping in the sea but most hotel resorts should have chillers on their pools to keep the water refreshing.

Is June too hot in Dubai?

This is really a matter of personal preference and what you have planned for Dubai.

For the most part, it’s too hot to be out and about at the beach or tackling the desert in June during the peak of the day, but not impossible.

If you don’t mind sweating a little, evenings out are still manageable, though many restaurants close their outdoor terraces during the hottest months of the year and many seasonal events have closed.

What you will find is that you can pick up a bargain on your accommodation from June through to August.

Hotels still look to fill their rooms in the off-peak season, and you’ll certainly avoid the peak Dubai crowds in June.

Waterparks and water-based attractions still remain quite busy in June, too, though as water temperatures rise over the month even these outdoor activities can become unbearable for some.

Places to Visit in Dubai in June 2026

You will want to explore some of the city’s best indoor attractions in June. Basing yourself around Dubai Mall and Downtown Dubai is a great idea at this stage of the year to minimise walking. The best things to do in Dubai in June include:

• A visit to the city’s beautiful Museum of the Future is an otherworldly experience sure to wow (NB advance booking is advised).

• A trip to At The Top Burj Khalifa – the highest observation deck in the world is a total bucket list experience not to miss, mostly indoors (Even in off-peak times, it’s still best to book your Burj Khalifa tickets well in advance, especially if you want the coveted sunset spots).

• Visit the largest suspended indoor aquarium tank in the world The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. It is totally free to observe the free tank inside the Mall, but a visit inside and the up-close encounters cost extra. For a big day out, it’s easy to combine your ticket to At The Top with the aquarium.

• For an icy cold treat, try your hand (or your feet!) at the Olympic-sized ice skating rink in Dubai Mall.

• Take on the slopes of Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates, or enjoy a snow park pass to enjoy Bobsledding, zorbing, and more!

• Once the sun goes down, venture out to the Dubai Mall promenade to capture the evening Dubai Fountain show – the world’s largest dancing fountain show on the Burj Lake. Taking a traditional abra out onto the water at night is one of the most popular activities in the central city in June.

• Another great nightspot to enjoy the nightly fountain show is Time Out Market, found in neighbouring Souk al Bahar. Terrace views are possible here, and there is a superb dining hall atmosphere.

Dubai Weather in May

Daytime temperatures rise significantly during May. The average daytime maximum is 37.8°C (100°F), but don’t be surprised if temperatures reach as high as 43.5°C (110°F) by the end of the month. Overnight lows average 25.2°C (77°F).

Humidity in Dubai is at its lowest in May, so it is drier than usual, and rainfall is unlikely, though not unheard of. However, dust storms are common at this time of year, impacting visibility and air quality.

Sea temperatures are not quite at their summer peaks, but they do warm significantly in May, making it ideal for beachgoers to enjoy a dip in the azure waters of the Persian Gulf. You can expect water temperatures ranging from 26.3°C (79.3°F) to 31.2°C (86.2°F) by month-end.

Dubai Special Events May 2026

Gone are the days when May was considered a quiet month in Dubai, when nothing much happens – quite the opposite. The May calendar is usually filled with an exciting line-up of events, though we do expect this will be significantly toned down in 2026 .

With Eid Al-Adha set to fall from May 26th until May 29th (subject to moon sighting and government-approved public holidays), visitors this May are in for an extra treat, with special celebrations and performances across the city.

Towards the end of the month, with rising temperatures, many al fresco dining options and outdoor activities are forced indoors by the heat. We are sharing with you the events that are currently still scheduled to occur in May this eyar,

Cultural & Heritage Events in May

• Eid Al-Adha and Arafat Day will likely fall between May 26th and May 29th (Public sector workers will have a full week of leave, from 23 to 31 May). Expect an adjustment in the normal events line-up, as fireworks and drone shows this year are unlikely to be held

Dubai With Kids in May 2026

Dubai is a city burgeoning with family-friendly activities year-round.

May is a popular time to visit Dubai with your family, as schools in Europe take a short half-term break towards the end of the month. Schools locally often take a short break at this time, too (with Eid Al Adha occurring in the last week of May this year, expect it to be a busy time!

As May is getting quite hot to be outdoors unless you’re in the water, why not try these ideas:

• Cool off at one of Dubai’s outdoor adventure playgrounds, such as Aquaventure at Atlantis the Palm or Wild Wadi attached to Jumeirah Beach Hotel. • Head out to Dubai Parks & Resorts—four theme parks in one location! Little ones will love Legoland Dubai, while older kids will likely prefer Motiongate. Book tickets in advance to save on gate passes! (Note that as significant portions of these parks are outdoors, they may be subject to closure due to the current conflict – check opening schedules online.)
• You can still catch the end of the season at Dubai Miracle Garden too, though, go early to beat the heat. They are currently running a resident’s special offer: AED 30 through until 31 May, and under-12s will go free!

• Enjoy an evening ziplining through the Ghaf tree forest in Mushrif Park at Aventura.

Dubai Weather in April

There can be a rapid increase in daytime maximum temperatures from late March to late April. At the start of the month, Dubai normally experiences daytime highs around 30°C/86°F and by the end of April, 35°C/95°F with an average of 33.3°C/92°F.

Be prepared for a few scorching hot days, too. There is only a low probability of rain and a possibility of sandstorms and dusty days.

The sea temperature takes a little longer to reach summertime peaks. You can expect a mild average of 25°C/77°F in the water in April – but reaching 28°C/72°F by month-end – most find this perfect for swimming!

The UV Index in Dubai in April is 8, and you get, on average, 11 hours of sunshine. Take care out in the sun, and remember to pack plenty of sunscreen, along with a hat, sunglasses, and a water bottle wherever you go during the day to beat the heat.

Religious Celebrations in Dubai this April

• The Christian celebration of Easter will fall on Sunday, 5 April 2026, and Orthodox Easter will be celebrated on the 12th of April 2026, meaning that events are likely to be spread across a two-week period.

Other special events in Dubai this April

• We await news if the family-favorite outdoor event, Dubai Global Village, can reopen for a short stint before the summer, as gates have sadly been closed since the start of the conflict. All advertised reopenings so far have not been able to go ahead.
• Ongoing indoor shows such as La Perle will also continue this month.
• International Art Fair, World Art Dubai is still scheduled to take place from 23-26 April 2026 at the World Trade Centre

Unlike previous years, the local school break in 2026 is in March (and was moved forward by a week), so there will be fewer scheduled kids’ activities in the first two weeks of April, as we have seen in recent years.

Ramadan District at Jumeirah Emirates Towers

February 28th to March 15 2026 – 5:00 pm to 12:00 am 1.00 am at weekends

Returning for its second season this Ramadan, the Ramadan District at the Plaza Terrace aims to blend cultural heritage with contemporary entertainment. Expect community activities, including board games, arts and crafts, cooking classes, and stage performances. You’ll also find henna and calligraphy artists.

You will find everything here, from big-name luxury goods brands to small local businesses, set in the backdrop of The Museum of the Future.

You are adjacent to the Ramadan Majilis at Jumeirah Etihad Towers, which hosts nightly iftar and suhoor.

Dubai Festival City Mall

February 18th to March 28th 2026

Join the celebrations at Dubai festival City Mall, where there will be an evening programme of events and cultural experiences throughout Ramadan in their Ramadan Majlis by the Bay.

Alongside a Ramadan market, there will be a special Ramadan edition of the IMAGINE water, sound and light show, drone displays, live performances, parades and so much more!

Dubai Municipality Ramadan Souq in Bur Deira

Open until end of Ramadan

This is a good one to attend in the run-up to Ramadan, noting that it’s actually scheduled to stop before the Holy Month starts.

Many locally will be making their Ramadan preparations by heading to this outdoor souq held on Old Municipality Street in Bur Deira. This souq will offer shoppers a unique range of products, including kitchen essentials, fabrics, and traditional food items.

Visitors can also enjoy entertainment and family-friendly activities. This is a great spot for visitors to Dubai during March to understand more about the culture and community surrounding Ramadan, as well as supporting the city’s traditional market traders.

Ramadan Street Food Festival

19th February – Eid 2026

The Sheikh Hamdan Colony will be transformed this Ramadan with colourful decorations and more than 130 vendor kiosks serving all manner of south Asian street foods from February 19th to February 28th.

From the 28th February the focus will shift to entertainment and live activations until Eid.

Hai Ramadan at Expo City

February 22nd until March 17th 2026; 5:00 pm to midnight

The market held in Al Wasl Plaza will host a mix of culture, tradition, and family-friendly activities with food outlets, handmade crafts, traditional garments, and Ramadan-themed items.

There are various iftar offerings at Hai Ramadan this year including a refined seated experience at ‘Iftar Al Majlis’ and a street-food iftar package at ‘Iftar Al Souk’.

Guests can also enjoy seeing the Al Wasl dome come alive with light projections that tell stories rooted in Ramadan tradition.

This will also be one of seven locations in Dubai where you can see the Iftar cannon fired.

Before You Head to a Dubai Ramadan Market

It is important to remember that Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection and togetherness. While these Dubai Ramadan events are by no means limited to the Muslim community, please be mindful that you are attending a religious occasion in an Islamic country.

Whilst Dubai may come across as ‘business as usual’ these days during the Holy Month, please be mindful when attending a Ramadan event where you are; dress appropriately for the occasion and refrain from eating and drinking around those fasting until after sunset.

Dubai Average Weather in January

Dubai’s average daytime maximum temperature in January is 24.2°C (76°F), with highs as much as 31.8°C (89°F) and overnight lows averaging 14.6°C (58°C).

In January, you should expect sea temperatures of 23.9°C (75°C) on average. Maximum sea temperatures are expected at 25.9°C (77°F) through to a minimum of 22°C (73°F).

Both rain and fog can commonly occur in January. There is little you can do to prepare for these natural occurrences, but if it rains, seek cover fast, as it can pour hard and fast but tends to clear quickly.

Fog tends to form overnight and burns off during the morning – do factor this in if you are planning an early morning Burj Khalifa visit – you may be looking out on a blanket of white, or with brilliant views of the skyscrapers poking through the clouds!

Global Village

Always a fun way to mark National Day in the UAE, Dubai Global Village will be putting on special shows to mark Eid al Etihad from 27 November -3 December this year.

This year’s celebration will honour the theme of unity and will boast magnificent decorations as well as 10 cultural installations. There will be chances to learn about local handicrafts and try local foods, as well as enjoy the festive ambience. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of performances, including ‘from the desert to the stars’, between the 1st and 3rd December.

On the 1st and 2nd December, there will be a UAE-themed drone show and fireworks to really celebrate the occasion!

Following the northern hemisphere seasons, winter in Dubai falls from December to March. However, unlikely much of Europe and North America don’t expect snow and freezing temperatures. Dubai likes to blissfully glide into a mild winter of blue skies, sunny days, and crisp cool evenings – but rarely what most would call COLD.

Rather than a traditional four seasons, Dubai’s seasons can best be described as simply summer and winter, with huge degrees of heat variation between the two (or hot, very hot, and OMG, I can’t believe it gets that HOT!).

The cooler, more bearable months of the year generally run from late October, where we see a significant drop in daytime highs (from the 40’s°C down to the lows 30’s°C in November), through to mid-May, where the temperatures start hitting into the 40°C/100°F + realms once more.

Dubai Winter Temperature: How Cold Does Dubai Get in Winter?

The coolest month of the year for Dubai is January, where the average temperature is 24.2°C (76°F). The average overnight low in January is 14.6°C (58°F), and the average sea temperature of Dubai in January is 23.9°C (75°F).

You can expect, on average, 8 hours of sunshine on a Dubai winter’s day.

There can, of course, be extremes in Dubai at any time of year, and winter is no exception. Daytime temperatures in January can climb over 30°C (86°F), and nighttime temperatures in the mountains and desert can get as cold as freezing – snow can occur on the UAE’s highest peak – Jebel Jais – on the coldest of days.

Does it Rain in Dubai in the Winter?

Rain is not a daily occurrence in Dubai; however, increasingly, rainstorms can occur – usually downpours all at once rather than days on end of rain and drizzle.

On average, you can expect five rain days per month between December and March. It is hard to predict precisely when it might rain in Dubai more than a few days out, so we wouldn’t go planning a winter holiday in Dubai around the weather, nor even pack an umbrella.

However, be aware it CAN happen and when it does…. oh boy! Flash flooding and traffic chaos can ensue. It’s best if it rains during your trip to Dubai to head somewhere safely indoors and wait it out until it passes >> see our indoor suggestions below!

Be aware that Dubai also engages in cloudseeding, which has resulted in more frequent rain showers than the UAE has historically experienced.

Fog in Dubai

By far, a bigger issue in Dubai in winter than rain is fog. For most of the winter months in Dubai, in fact, from even as early as September, you will start to experience some phenomenal morning fogs descending upon the city due to the overnight humidity.

This low-level fog normally burns off by mid-morning to leave a beautiful, crisp, and sunny day ahead. The fog can, however, cause air traffic chaos and problems on the fast-flowing roads. On rare occasions, it can be so severe as to close DXB airport.

Things to Do in Dubai in the Winter

So, on to the fun stuff and why we love winter in Dubai so much: the cooler weather means a return to our favourite parks and outdoor activities! Winter 2025/26 really starts with the return of outdoor markets and seasonal favourites like Global Village and rolls on with Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and so much more, making the most of the great outdoors.

Dubai Safari Park – Found in the Al Warqa 5 area, the park plays host to over 3000 animals, with educational, conservation, and protection at the core of their mission. Last winter they also offered evening sessions, we are waiting to see if these will return.

The Walk & The Beach JBR – this iconic beachfront area of Dubai has something for everyone. City meets beach on the bustling waterfront walk. Enjoy cosmopolitan restaurants to ice cream stands and kids splash parks, camel rides along the beach, and a huge range of water sports are on offer.

Al Seef – where old meets new along the western bank of the Dubai Creek. Traditional architecture seamlessly blends the city’s oldest neighbourhood into this modern waterfront destination. Catch your boat tours from here or enjoy a bite overlooking the water and stroll the touristy shops.

Desert safaris, dune sports and camping in Dubai in winter

Winter is an ideal time to explore Dubai’s desert. On an evening, overnight safari, or early morning hot air balloon ride, you will definitely want to pack a warm jumper/sweater and take long trousers with you, along with closed-toe shoes. You may even want a beanie and scarf if you’re particularly susceptible to the cold, but it’s not super cold. Organised desert camps will provide you with the necessary blankets.

With the cooler day temperatures too, winter is the best time for a daytime Dubai desert safari. Operates have re-opened post-Covid-19 with a strict range of safety measures in place to make them a fun and enjoyable experience for all.

Al Fresco Dining in Dubai

Dubai enjoys a spectacular array of outdoor dining venues, and in the winter months, people take full advantage of this to enjoy the city’s spectacular skyline.

Whether it’s city vistas and a thriving party scene you are after with views of the Burj Khalifa or romantic and uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai has a rooftop bar to suit!

Explore the Old City and Souks of Dubai

The cooler months of winter make it ideal for longer strolls outside. You could spend a full day exploring the museums around Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, then take a traditional abra over to the Deira side of Dubai Creek to experience the many souks of Dubai, most popular the Gold & Spice Souks, and pick up some Dubai souvenirs!

The newly re-opened Shindagah Historic District would make a great outing this winter to rediscover a historic part of the city brought back to its former glory.

Hit the beach

Whilst many hotels have their own private beaches, there are a number of public beaches and beach clubs around the city offering a variety of different experiences. From sophisticated beach hang-outs to chilled-out family spots like Kite Beach,; Dubai really does have it all when it comes to beach experiences.

Most beach clubs close during the hottest months, and whilst December and January may not feel like beach weather for many residents, temperatures are still considered ‘warm’ by many visitors. Visit the Theme Parks

Winter is the perfect time for theme park fans to visit Dubai with pleasant weather.

• Dubai Parks and Resorts, with the combined theme parks of Legoland, Motiongate and real Madrid World, makes for an excellent winter choice.

• IMG Worlds of Adventure makes a great choice for inclement weather as it’s entirely indoors.

• Heading down the road to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, there are now 4 mega-theme parks to enjoy – Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld Yas Island.

Day Trip to other Emirates

The cooler days of winter make it a great time to explore the other emirates of the UAE (did you know Dubai is one of 7 Emirates of the UAE? Here are our top Dubai day trip suggestions:

• A trip to the Capital Abu Dhabi, is a must. Marvel at the stunning grandeur of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, tour the Presidential Place Qasr Al Watan or explore the history of humanity at The Louvre Abu Dhabi – learn more about the Culture Express bus running this winter.

• Adrenaline junkies, head to Ras Al Khaimah! Home to the UAE’s tallest peak Jebel Jais, and the UAE adventure capital, this is where to head for scenic drives, mountain hiking and biking, wadi tours, camping and any extreme outdoor activity you can think of!

• The perfect mix of outdoor adventures and history, head to the far east coast of the country and explore the emirate of Fujairah. From snorkelling opportunities at Snoopy Beach to dhow cruises at Dibba, this is our favourite day trip from Dubai in winter for a taste of the “other side” of the UAE, away from the modern high rises.

Dubai Water Parks and Water Sports in Winter

So, just how cold does the seawater get in winter? If you want to dip in the Arabian Gulf waters in winter, it can drop as low as 22°C (73°F) in the middle of winter.

Our super-sensitive desert kids would squeal that this is far too cold, but visitors from the depth of European winter will no doubt find it positively balmy!

• Water Parks in Dubai remain open almost throughout the year, but you may find they close for a fortnight at some point in the winter (generally outside of school holiday times). It’s worth checking any possible closure times before you travel if this is an important part of your Dubai travel plans. Aquaventure at Atlantis remains the largest in the Middle East, but also the most crowded and can suffer from long queues. Also consider Wild Wadi Waterpark or with littles, Legoland Waterpark.

• Resort swimming pools, on the other hand, are far more likely to be temperature controlled, so you will find them wonderfully heated in the winter (in fact, pools will start being heated to maintain a steady 28°C-30°C water temperature from about October!). Not all hotel pools are created the same in this regard! It pays to check the fine print if you’re booking a Dubai hotel in winter.

• If in doubt, why not book a hotel in Dubai with an indoor pool? Plenty of places offer indoor pools, from lap pools to luxury indoor spas, for year-round relaxation at ideal temperatures.

Dubai Cruises and Boat Rides

You will undoubtedly be able to enjoy getting out on the water around Dubai in plenty of other ways.

• Winter is a good time to take a tour out of Dubai Marina, or a traditional abra across Dubai Creek is popular, or extend your evening with a more formal dinner dhow cruise.

• There are many yachts, from Dubai Marina, in particular, where you can privately charter a yacht for your party, be it a daytime sightseeing cruise or a fun evening party out on the water.

Remember, it can get chilly in the evenings, so wear appropriate warmer clothing if you’ll be hitting the water at night.

Dubai’s Seasonal Winter Events

Many events and Dubai winter attractions will only open over the cooler months of the year, though these “seasons” are gradually creeping longer each year!

Here’s just a selection of our favourites for visitors to enjoy a different side of Dubai:

Global Village

The crowds and colours of Dubai’s Global Village need to be seen to be believed. Like a giant world’s fair representing over 70 countries through food, dance, and live performances.

• This outdoor extravaganza from 16 October 2025 through until early May (the closing date can be weather dependent)

Dubai Garden Glow

A spectacular nighttime light display, this attraction has undergone quite a few changes and a relocation over the summer.

The new format, just in a different location within Zabeel Park (Now found at Gate 3 adjacent to the Dubai Frame) sees a 2-4-1 attraction with the ever-favourite Dinosaur Park being joined by Fantasy Park – which doesn’t look like it glows!

Whether the full glow park is returning later in the season is still yet to be seen!

Dubai Miracle Garden

The largest flower garden in the world by total blooms sits right here in Dubai! Marvel at the floral creations from the iconic A380 permanent feature to the swinging gardens, the floral clock, incredible topiary collections, and an annual changing lineup to impress!

• This year’s season will run from 29 September 2025 to early May 2026. Learn more here.

Festive Winter Wonderlands in Dubai

Although Christmas is not a marked religious holiday in the United Arab Emirates, there’s no denying it’s celebrated in a big way! It may still be warm outside, but magical winter wonderlands with snow machines, Christmas trees, and market stalls for Santa himself will appear across the city in December.

All the large shopping malls will be in on the action, along with places like Souk Madinat, JBR, Winter District, Expo City, Habtoor City and Ski Dubai – see our complete Christmas in Dubai guide here (plus we share here our guide to seeking out Santa in Dubai if you’re after a festive photo for the family).

Ripe Market

Only closing now for the hottest few months of the year, the Ripe Farmers Market has a few roving locations across the city during the summer months. In winter, however, you can find it at Academy Park in the Umm Suqeim area of the city every Saturday and Sunday. The sprawling market is a great place to pick up fresh organic fruits and vegetables and also meet local artisans selling their hand-crafted products.

• This year’s dates are 11 October 2025 to 3 May 2026

What if it Rains in Winter? What to do in Dubai When it Rains

On rare days, it does rain in Dubai, but don’t worry about it ruining your travel plans – Dubai is a city also built to be enjoyed indoors! Here are just a few suggestions to fill a rainy day in Dubai (with & without kids):

• Dubai Frame – rain or not, you can still enjoy a bird’s eye view beneath the towering Dubai Frame – observe the Dubai Creek and Old Dubai from one side and the modern skyscrapers of Dubai to the west. See our review of the Dubai Frame here.

• Dubai Mall – always a fail-safe; whatever the weather, there’s so much to see and do in and around Dubai Mall. Take a trip up the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, or take a tour of the incredible Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. (Just be warned, peak times/dates for Burj Khalifa will book up FAST!)

• Little ones will love Kidzania Dubai, or Play DXB (VR Park) for your bigger kids and the giant cinema complex – even try your hand at ice skating on the Olympic-sized rink! See our full review of the Dubai Mall activities here.

• The Green Planet Dubai – Offers an incredible indoor rainforest experience in the heart of the city. Snake your way around the giant artificial tree inside a giant biodome adjacent to the City Walk entertainment precinct. There’s now the added feature of an outdoor Nature Park – a large edutainment area featuring a treehouse with viewing platforms, adventure trails and slides, plus realistic animatronics of all manner of creepy crawlies (the outdoor exhibit is best for dry weather!)!

• The Museum of the Future is a fascinating journey to the future of space, health and innovation (though do note that tickets need to be booked many weeks in advance; you can’t pop in here as a last-minute plan!) History buffs, though, will find Etihad Museum an excellent Dubai rainy-day choice without the queues and crowds.

• Ski Dubai – this huge indoor ski centre in the Mall of the Emirates never fails to impress visitors; its the perfect spot to practice your ski skills in Dubai before experiencing the “real thing.”. Their festival experience in December is also one of the best in the city -though does book out early.

Possible Cons of Visiting Dubai in Winter

Now, it’s undoubtedly true the best time to visit Dubai is in the winter, but are there any drawbacks to a winter trip to Dubai? No deal breakers, but it’s worth considering:

• It gets really busy. Crowds have unfortunately become a huge problem when visiting Dubai in the winter and during peak season. We’d highly suggest that if you are planning a visit to Dubai in the winter, be aware of the busiest periods over school holidays (generally the last three weeks of December). If you have flexibility, come on a weekday and outside the major school breaks to avoid lines at popular attractions.

• It’ll cost you more: Being high season (particularly December through early January), you’ll find hotels are charging premium prices, and the best places will book up fast; there’s very little chance of finding a great deal over the cooler winter season in Dubai.

• It could rain: Could is the key here – we’ve had winters without a drop of rain, then other years several days of deluge and localised flooding – its absolutely not a deal breaker; you are more likely to get a string of days with blue clear skies, but do have a contingency plan in mind, rain is usually forecast at least a week out.

We are normally full of positivity about visiting Dubai at any time of year, but see here our least favourite time to visit Dubai.

So, is it Worth Visiting Dubai in the Winter?

Absolutely! We can’t promise clear blue skies in Dubai every single day, but it’s pretty darn close to perfection for your mid-winter vacation!

Weather in Dubai at Christmas

In late December, you should expect wonderful mild weather – average daytime highs of 26°C/78.8°F and seawater temperature of 25.6°C/78°F.

Rain is not unheard of in December, but certainly don’t expect a long string of dreary grey days. Fog can be an issue in December, particularly in the early mornings.

The wonderful weather in December, combined with the fact it is also school holiday time in Dubai (along with most of the world), means that the week from Christmas to New Year in Dubai is one of the busiest of the year.

You can expect hotel and AirBnB prices to skyrocket, and in some cases, your first choice of accommodation may not be available – so book early if you have December in Dubai on your agenda.

Winter City

Expo City will again be transformed into Winter City for Christmas from 6 to 31 December 2025, starting at 4:00 pm daily until 10:00 pm.

Al Wasl Plaza takes centre stage, with a 52-foot Christmas Tree and a festive village, including Santa’s uniquely recycled house, Frosty’s Farmhouse, Santa’s Toy Factory, Mrs Claus’ Bakery, and Letters to Santa, among the popular activities on offer.

To truly experience the spirit of Christmas in Dubai, join a nightly Carols by Candlelight performance. This simply magical performance with a light show occurs under the Al Wasl dome. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also make a special appearance at this event.

What does it cost?

This event remains free for those under six and People of Determination, but note the following pricing policy is now in place for kids 6+ and adults:

• General Admission AED 50
• Carols by Candlelight is separately ticketed, AED 150 per person
• Al Wasl Season pass holders can access the Winter City daily for free, and get 2 tickets to the carols.

Winter Wonderland at Ski Dubai

A Dubai classic winter experience that never disappoints can be found at Ski Dubai. Home to one of the city’s most popular Santa Grotto at Mall of the Emirates, not just Santa Meet and Greet’s with a Christmas goodie bag and a hot chocolate included.

You can also enjoy fun adventures in the Snow Park, including Snow Movies, snowman building, and breakfast with Santa. Packages start from 160 AED pp for a standard Santa meet-and-greet, AED 325 for added Snow Park access, or AED 600 for a Family Pass to Santa (family of 4).

(NB Due to the cold conditions, entry to Santa’s Grotto starts from 2 years of age)

Another option where the littles don’t need to enter sub-zero temperatures is Breakfast With Santa. Held at 8:00 am daily from 10 to 25 December this costs AED 160 per person/AED 80 for infants.

Want to make it extra special? Add on a stay at the Aspen Ski Chalets at Kempinski Mall of the Emirates. Ranging in size from a one-bedroom chalet up to the three-floor, three-bedroom ski chalets, each sleeps between two to six guests, overlooking the slopes of Ski Dubai.

Winter Fest at Al Barari Playground

Already one of the city’s most magical playgrounds, it will be extra special in December as the park is transformed for Winter Fest (TBC 2025 14/15 December and 21/22 December 2024, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM).

Entry tickets (Kids AED 89, Adults AED 49) will get you access to the main Al Barari Playground, the ice rink, and a train ride. Other activities must be paid for at the venue, including gingerbread house making, the snow maze, messy play, a snow fight zone, and a tuning slide.

To make the day extra special, Santa Claus himself will be present for a meet-and-greet in Santa’s Grotto.

Festive Garden at Madinat Jumeirah

Madinat Jumeirah’s Festive Market returns from 13 December 2024 to 5 January 2025. With festive food and drinks, fun activities for the kids, and seasonal live music, this is always one of the best places to enjoy the holiday season in Dubai, at one of the city’s most iconic locations.

Held at Madinat Jumeirah Fort Island, the event highlights include a 36-foot-tall Christmas tree, a live band playing festive music and Christmas carols, a North Pole train ride, and a classic Venetian Carousel among the German-style Christmas market huts.

Don’t miss gingerbread house making, live entertainment and decorated abra rides. It’s the perfect place to pick up a special gift with a local touch and seasonal treats you might be craving from home!

• Free to attend; activities cost extra
• Weekdays are 3:00 PM to late, and weekends are midday to late.

Winter Garden at Habtoor Palace (TBC 2025)

This long-running Dubai Christmas event takes place on the Al Habtoor City rooftop. The venue is transformed for the winter season into an enchanting winter garden. Expect dazzling decorations, carols, street artists, acrobats, mulled wine, gingerbread, and even Santa Claus will make an appearance.

(TBC 2025) Weekdays from 4:00 PM until 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM on weekends from 22 November to 8 January 2025. Entry AED 25. TBC.

Winter District Season 3

This festive season event will return in 2025, returning to Jumeirah Emirates Towers from December 13 to 28, 2025, from Midday to Midnight.

Expect market stalls, kids activities, food trucks, and a Santa’s Grotto. Live entertainment will include a daily performance of Battle of the Bands, open mike nights, choir groups, and roaming entertainers.

Dubai Garden Glow – all winter

Global Village – all winter

Festivities will commence this year on 13 December and run through until 5 January. They will be celebrating with a multi-cultural snowy theme, with Santa and his elves spreading cheer across the park. Head to the Restaurant Plaza for snow activities and enjoy the spectacular 21-metre-high Christmas Tee at Celebration Walk.

Global Village is a spectacular place to visit over the cooler winter break (though do be warned, it can be extremely busy at weekends). There are ample shopping opportunities, as well as the chance to enjoy seasonal flavors and treats with a truly international twist.

Dubai Santa Run (TBC 2025)

One of the best Christmas events in Dubai to get you in the spirit, this family-friendly event will return on Saturday, 7 December 2024, to West Beach, Palm Jumeirah.

All participants must register in advance, with kids registered for AED 49 (or free with an adult). Adults are AED 125 to participate, or book the whole family and get free hotel parking at the Hilton.

There are 1km, 2.5km, and 5km events, the chance to meet Santa himself, and prizes for best dressed.

Dubai’s Biggest Festive Nights

Taking place outside Dubai’s Festival City Mall (along Dubai Creek, near the airport), enjoy nightly fireworks from 5 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, at 8:30 pm. Entry is free.

Dubai Feastival (TBC 2025)

This is another new experience in Dubai this festive season, especially for your 4-legged friends. A dog-friendly family festival will be held at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club on 14 December from 12:00 PM.

Free for under-12s, and then just AED 20 a ticket (advance purchase here on Platinumlist), you can enjoy a Christmas market tailored especially for pet owners and let your furry little one loose in a leash-free area (and there will be a human little play area too!). There will be dog shows and a fancy dress competition judged by Santa himself.

Pet Festival at Dubai Parks & Resorts (TBC 2025)

Not to miss out on the pet-friendly crowd, Dubai Parks and Resorts is also having its own pet-friendly weekend: Pet Festival at Riverland on 14-15 December (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM). Witness international dog and cat championship shows, agility demonstrations, and a pet fashion show—plus, for residents, don’t miss the dog adoption drive!

Dubai Average Weather in November

Temperatures drop significantly over November from highs of 38°C/100°F at the start of the month down to the high 20s/low 80s by month-end. Overnight lows are around 20°C/68°F, and morning fog can be a common occurrence as the humidity starts to fall, leading to some spectacular cityscape views.

The sea temperature averages 28.4°C/83°F, so it is still pleasant to take a refreshing dip in the water. It is also perfect for sun worshippers without getting too hot and sweaty.

Dubai Special Events November 2026

• Flag Day – Held every year on the 3rd of November, Emiratis take great pride and honour in displaying their National Flag. Signalling the unification of the 7 Emirates, the flag represents justice, peace, tolerance, power, and moderation. Homes and businesses will unfurl their flags on this day, and all the way through to Eid al Etihad (National Day) on 2-3 December, you will see the city blanketed in red, green, white & black.
• Throughout November, tourists should head to Kite Beach for the largets ‘Flag Garden‘ experience.
• Dubai Design Week – The region’s largest creative festival, held in Dubai Design District between 4 and 9 November 2025 covers architecture through to interior design and graphic design.

• ’Al Hadaba’ himself, the legendary Amr Diab will perform live at the Coca-Cola Arena on 1 November.
• Grease is still the word at Dubai Opera as we start this month, as the iconic musical concludes its run at the Dubai Opera on 2 November.
• Monday, 3 November sees ‘Queen of Emotions’ Elissa singing live at Dubai Opera.
• Butterfly Carnival Music Fest, a global fusion of culture, music & unity, is scheduled for 8 &9 November 2025 – Dubai Media City Amphitheatre
• The UNTOLD music festival returns to Dubai from 6-9 November with a range of international DJs and musical acts including Yungblud, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell, the Sugababes and Nora Fatehi – Dubai Parks and Resorts.
• Influential British band, Deep Purple, will return to the stage at the Coca-Cola Arena on 20 November, belting out hits like ‘Smoke on the Water’, ‘Black Night’, and ‘Fireball’.
• The two-time Latin Grammy Award Winner, Antonio Rey, will bring a night of flamenco to the Dubai Opera on 20 November, in a captivating performance that’s sure to leave you with goosebumps.

• The Dubai Fitness Challenge is always a great way to work off the days spent indoors during the summer. Running 1 November through 30 November 2025; there’s always a huge variety of events to get involved with across the city, including The Dubai Run on 23 November.
• November 1 also sees the Mushrif Park Half Marathon.
• You can enter your furry friends into Dubai’s most exciting canine competition, the Wagathon, taking place on 16 November 2025 – More details coming soon!

Suggested Dubai Activities in November 2026

As the weather is starting to cool, it’s a great time to check out the return of some amazing seasonal events and enjoy the great outdoors.

• Dubai Global Village will be reopened for Season 30 and will run through until early May 2026. An incredible world showcase of food, shopping, and entertainment (like a mini Expo 2020 every year!) – and with an entry fee of only 30 AED, it’s one of the bargain night spots in Dubai.

• Explore the city from the water. Many services offer tours from several locations, including the Dubai Canal, Dubai Creek, and Dubai Marina. Our top pick is to hire a small group boat and choose your own itinerary, BYO your snacks, and let your captain whisk you around Dubai’s top sites!

• Take on an evening desert safari, quad bike, ride a camel, and enjoy a traditional Bedouin feast while watching a belly dancing show and smoking shisha! Check out just some of the available options here, or even consider an overnight desert camp.

• Attend an outdoor market, such as Ripe Market, held every Saturday & Sunday.

Day Trips from Dubai in November 2026

• Check out the Yas Island theme parks – Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World and the newly opened SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.

• Enjoy an evening at the exciting new waterfront destination Yas Bay, attached to the incredible new Etihad Arena (see the lineup of Etihad Arena shows this November).

• Take in the important cultural sites of Abu Dhabi, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Qasr Al Watan (Presidential Palace).

There’s still plenty to explore beyond Dubai City, too; there are 7 Emirates in the UAE to be explored! If you head south to the mountains and northeast to the Northern Emirates, you’ll discover a whole different side of the country.

Some suggestions for the cooler days of November:

• Day trip to Hatta in the Hatta Mountains – enjoy a variety of outdoor sports at Wadi Hub and water-based activities at Hatta Dam. You can hike mountain bikes or even horse ride through the mountainous desert terrain at this outdoor adventure hot spot, which is super popular on weekends (book early!)

• Take on the UAE’s tallest peak Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah and enjoy a huge variety of outdoor adrenaline activities from the world’s longest zipline to the Jais Sky Maze perched atop the mountain.

• Enjoy a snorkelling trip to the country’s east coast, Fujairah.

With the Kids in Dubai in November 2026

• Your younger tots will absolutely adore the outdoor playground set up at Al Barari, a pirate ship, and waterplay is the centrepiece of this hidden urban oasis, perfect for the cooler months in Dubai.

• The nighttime extravaganza Dubai Garden Glow is back for its 11th season. A beautiful evening light display; get there early to also experience the Dinosaur park as day turns to night, then watch the light show come alive.

• Get kids active outside at Aventura Parks. A ropes and zipline course will see them confidently flying through the treetops of the Ghaf forest in Mushrif Park.

• Dubai Safari Park – A nature experience not far from the city, the new and improved safari park promises families the opportunity to see over 3000 animals through interactive experiences and large enclosures.

Ski Dubai Santa at Winter Wonderland

This is arguably the most magical way to get into the festive spirit in Dubai. The sub-zero temperatures at Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates perfectly set the scene for multiple immersive experiences you can enjoy while dressed in your cold-weather gear.

With a Festive Pass, you can enjoy all Snow Park rides, a photo op at Santa’s Grotto and Village, a fun little chairlift ride, and our famous hot cup of cocoa!

• Please bear in mind this is not a suitable experience for under 2’s.

Breakfast with Santa is another popular option here. Rather than a personalised session, Santa will work his way around the room, speaking to all families at this seated event. This can be less intimidating (and much warmer) for your littlest ones.

Early bird tickets are yet to go on sale (last year they were released on 11 November 2024), but get snapped up immediately when they do for the most popular dates immediately before Christmas. Get on their mailing list now to be the first to know when tickets go on sale.

Additionally, Breakfast with Santa will take place at 8:00 am daily (last year from 10 to 25 December and costs AED 160 per person, infants AED 80).

The Grotto

This year, The Grotto is relocating from the Dubai Mall to The Mall of the Emirates for the 2025 season.

Each Grotto booking includes a walk-through Candyland and The Enchanted Forest, before visiting Santa’s Merry Mailroom. Then it’s into the grotto for a full 10 minutes with Santa, so you can expect a fully immersive experience.

Rules are tight, so make sure that you’ve read all of the terms and conditions before you buy your tickets. Whispering Winter Sessions are also on offer for children with Special Educational Needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Children’s tickets are priced at AED 165 each (with a gift), and adults’ tickets are AED 120 (Under 12 months old and carers are free, but no gift). You need at least 1 adult & 1 child, and the maximum group size is 5.

Unfortunately, reviews so far this year have not been fabulous, with the focus very much on the photo, which you are charged extra for, rather than the enitre atmosphere.

Snowbury Square at Times Square

This has always been a brilliant ‘Mall Santa’ experience for little ones, as a visit here isn’t overly complicated. They have a wonderful traditional Santa in his Gingerbread house and reasonable opening hours.

Additional activities at ‘Snowbury Square’ typically include cookie-making workshops, ornament-making, and storytelling sessions. This year, the schedule includes Story time with the Elves (7, 14 & 21 December), Story time with the Snow Queen and friends (4.00 pm-4.30 pm on the 7 and 8, and 12 to 24 December), as well as dance performances and a music recital.

Winter City at Expo City

The magical Winter City at Expo City has been one of the most popular Christmas destinations in recent years. It celebrates all things winter, from cookie baking and gingerbread houses to Christmas Carol nights under the Al Wasl dome.

While the Carols by Candlelight nights are the absolute highlight here (20 to 24 December,6:20 pm and 7:50 pm), Santa and Mrs. Claus are also the stars most families come to see.

General Admission tickets are now on sale for AED 50 – another significant price increase from last year...

Carols by Candlelight is AED 150 per person, and this includes entry to Winter City.

CandyTown at Jewel by the Creek

A new addition for 2025, this community event at the sparkling new luxury waterfront venue Jewel of the Creek is shaping up to be a family hit this winter.

There will be carollers, artisan stalls, arts and crafts, stilt walkers and drummers, and most importantly, a Santa’s Grotto.

Santa Dates 2025: Running from 5 to 28 December (Thursdays and Sundays from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 5:00 pm to Midnight; Closed Monday-Wednesday)

Entry is free but there will be paid activities.

Winter Wonderland at Al Barari Playground

A relatively new addition, Winter Wonderland at Al Barari Playground offers kids a magical winter set up outdoors in their famously beautiful adventure park. In addition to the park’s standard features, kids can enjoy an ice rink, train ride, and plan a visit to Santa’s Grotto.

Other paid activities are also available, including snowball fights and gingerbread house making.

Winter District

Back for a third season, this massive winter event will return to its original home at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, after relocating to Dubai Media City Amphitheatre for 2024.

Not yet fully launched for the season (as of early October, they’re still at the vendor outreach stage), we expect this event to feature a wide range of food and beverage outlets, artisan market stalls, festive activities, carolers, a kids’ corner, and a Santa’s Grotto.

Santa Dates 2025: 13 to 28 December 2025 (12 pm to 12 am daily).

Tickets are expected to go on sale via Platinumlist. They start at AED 25 or AED 100 for a family of 5, and season passes are AED 175 –TBC 2025

As you might know, family brunch in Dubai is a bit of an institution! Many events are claiming to offer Santa experiences this year, so please bear with us as we compile a more accurate list for 2025.

Regular Race Days in Dubai

Horse racing in Dubai generally takes place during the cooler winter months only on the dirt and turf courses at Meydan Racecourse, just outside Downtown Dubai.

Dubai Racing Carnival 2025-26

Races occur every Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. until late, from 7 November 2025 until the Dubai World Cup on 28 March 2025. There are a few special events during the season, including:

• Festive Friday – 19 December 2025
• Fashion Friday – 23 January 2025
• Emirates Super Saturday – 28 February 2025

This is the Meydan Racecourse calendar by DRC for the Dubai 2025-26 horse racing season at Meydan.

Tickets to the races can be purchased at the track or booked online for a premium package (though note that hospitality packages bought at the gate will cost you more and are subject to availability).

• General Public – you’re at ground level here with a selection of picnic tables and an open outdoor food court until the end of the last race. Adults AED 5, grab free kids’ entry tickets at the gate – Gate B.
• The Premium By McGettigan’s includes a kids’ playground and a cash bar in a dedicated ‘village.’ Kids Village is open from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Music at McGettigans continues until midnight. Adults AED 65, Family packages AED 180. Kids’ tickets are at the gate, entry Gate A.

The Grandstand at Meydan offers commanding views over the track, and the Parade Ring offers many different dining packages to suit different budgets:

• Parade Ring Lounge – Centrally located on the ground floor, this is where you want to head for a close-up view of the action with a buffet dinner, al fresco seating, and entertainment. Soft Packages AED 295; House Beverages AED 395

• Paddock View – A step up on level 4, this is a good choice for a mixed age group with great views, indoor and outdoor seating, and a bottomless buffet dinner. Soft Packages AED 365; House Beverages AED 495

• Invasor Room – An elegant and upscale offering on the 2nd floor with great views of the track and parade ring. This is where you want to head for a classy and exciting evening. Soft packages AED 445; Premium Beverages AED 595

• Winners Circle Restaurant – On the 2nd & 3rd floors with excellent views through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Winners Circle. This includes a 3-course sit-down dinner—Soft Packages AED 345 and house AED 445.

• Levels 3 and 4 of the Grandstand are dedicated to private suites, which can be booked for corporate events and special occasions throughout the racing season in Dubai.

Dubai World Cup 2026

One of the richest days on the international racing calendar, with $30.5 million in prize money on offer, the Dubai World Cup showcases the finest thoroughbreds of the season. The event brings out Dubai’s social elite and a glamorous international audience.

This year, the Dubai World Cup will take place on Saturday 28 March 2026

The hospitality packages we mentioned above are not available for the Dubai World Cup; an entirely different set of hospitality packages is available, with a broader range of bars and restaurants open specifically for Dubai World Cup night.

What Type of Horse Racing do They Have at Meydan?

Meydan Racecourse consists of both a 1,750-metre dirt track and a 2,400-meter turf track. Most Friday race nights will involve a combination of both tracks being used.

Each evening consists of six or seven races, held 35 minutes apart.

The hospitality services start 30 minutes before the first race, so on most Fridays, this means things start at 5:30 PM with racing commencing at 6:00 PM. To get the most out of your experience, aim to be seated early in the hospitality spaces. This will give you ample time to dive into the race program, complete your Pick 6/7 in plenty of time, and enjoy your first drink before the action begins.

Limited tables are available in the general public space, so you’ll want to be in early to nab one. The gates open at 4:00 PM.

The Meydan Hotel Dubai At Meydan Racecourse

If you want to make a complete night of your horse racing experience in Dubai, then we’d suggest arranging to stay at the attached Meydan Hotel. You are within walking distance here to the Grandstand, though they can assist you with an electric buggy ride door to door.

You can see the racing action from your rooms, too, though you’re a little far from the finish line. To be at the heart of the action, we suggest booking with the hotel and combining your stay with a hospitality package.

The Rooms at The Meydan Hotel

You have the choice of rooms or suites. They are renowned for having some of the most spacious hotel rooms in the city.

• Grand Deluxe Balcony Room, Grand Premium Balcony Room (higher floors), and Grand Superior Balcony Room – all 62sqm
• Panoramic Suites – 132sqm, Presidential Meydan Suites (4 adults two kids), and Presidential Duplex Suites (split level sleeps up to 6)

Whilst they don’t offer those sought-after Gulf water views, it’s still a pretty spectacular and fascinating view to wake up to, and it’s in an excellent location for visiting other city attractions. Meydan is around 10 minutes by taxi from Downtown Dubai and 15 minutes from DXB Airport (all traffic dependent).

Dining at Meydan Hotel

Meydan offers both formal and casual dining options.

• Farriers is their international restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner
• The Millennium Lounge for track views, al fresco dining, and drinks
• Qube Sports Bar, with its screens, is perfect for big event days
• Grip n Sip is ideal after a round of golf
• Or enjoy Equus Pool Bar for rooftop sips

NB – The hotel’s ‘in-house’ dining package includes dinner at Farriers on race nights. Yes, Farriers overlooks the course, but it is NOT the same as the hospitality packages and restaurants we mention above which sit immediately above the racing action and Parade Ring; your views from Farriers are quite distant.

• If not included with your stay, the race night packages at Farriers, including buffet and bottomless drinks, start from AED 249 Soft to AED 599 Sparkling.
• Alternatively, the Millennium Lounge is a little closer to the action with an open terrace, shisha, an à la carte menu, and a minimum spend of AED 150.

Other Leisure facilities at Meydan

Aside from attending the horse racing, there’s a great range of other options. You are attached to a Golf Course, set around 6 lakes and the Meydan Tennis Academy, as well as the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views from the rooftop pool 9.

If you’re coming with the kids, there’s a separate kiddy pool on the rooftop with a few pieces of playground equipment (why not ask the hotel to organise a nanny, though, so you can pop out and enjoy the races?!).

Even if you’re not there for the racing, guests can arrange stable tours during their visit to the Meydan Hotel for a unique Dubai experience.

Gambling on Horse Racing in Dubai

In case you are not aware, gambling is still illegal in Dubai. That, as you can imagine, does not stop people from doing so, but you’d need a VPN to access any gambling sites from the URL.

You won’t see trackside, however, any bookies or TAB huts, etc, that you may be familiar with at horse racing events in other countries.

Literally a giant frame, you ascend 48 floors above the city in a glass elevator, then walk the see-through glass floor if you dare! To one side, the old city of Deira and onwards to Sharjah; on the other, superb views of Downtown and the Burj Khalifa.
• Speaking of heights, how would you feel taking a glass slide over Downtown Dubai? Test your nerves at Sky View Observatory.

Dubai Weather in August

In the hottest month of the year, daily maximums in Dubai can reach 48.8°C (120°F), averaging around 41.5°C (106.7°F). Overnight, temperatures only drop to an average low of 30.6°C (87°F), so there cn be limited relief from the heat, even at night.

Humidity starts to pick up in August, making it feel even hotter and muggier than in July (NB, look for the “feels like” temperature in your weather app to gauge how hot it is outside better).

Sea temperatures are not particularly refreshing in August either, at a balmy 33.1°C (91.6°F); even temperatures over 34°c in the water can be experienced in Dubai in August.

August is a quiet month for special events in Dubai. There are ongoing summer-long events to enjoy, such as Dubai Summer Surprises, a shopping-related event with venues all over the city, and Dubai Sports World, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, keeping kids and adults alike active in Dubai over the hottest month.

We’re keeping it all indoors still in August, with some favourite suggestions to try in the city:

• Catch La Perle by Dragon – the stunning stage show at Al Habtoor. It runs throughout the year, but August is the perfect time to catch the show in air-conditioned comfort and with special offers such as kids go free. Stick around for dinner and drinks in Al Habtoor City.

• Get out on the water in air-conditioned style, enjoy a night cruise with dinner from Dubai Marina, or even catch the Dubai Ferry for a spectacular view of many of the city’s highlights in air-conditioned comfort.

• Ski Dubai – hit the slopes indoors at the Mall of the Emirates, keeping you active during the hottest months.

• Visit AYA – Immersive Experience – at Wafi Mall; this cutting-edge VR tech experience is a truly incredible (and airconditioned!) way to stay in touch with nature in a futuristic manner.

• Try afternoon tea at the famous Burj al Arab – it may be too hot for the stunning infinity pool, but pull up a chair inside for a special treat on the 27th floor of Dubai’s “7-star” luxury jewel -CURRENTLY CLOSED. Whilst the Burj Al Arab is currently closed for refurbishment, lots of other hotels serve delicious afternoon teas. You can find out more here.

If you’d still like to enjoy the heat and get out in the sun, we suggest cooling off at one of the city’s many beach clubs. Head out in the late afternoon and stay hydrated to make the most of Dubai’s beaches in summer – or seek out some of the newer night beaches in Jumeirah.

Ramadan in Dubai

It’s important to observe each year when the Holy Month of Ramadan – the 9th month on the Hijri calendar will occur (the start date changes by approximately 10 days on the Gregorian calendar each year). This is a period of deep religious reflection for Muslims and is strictly observed.

Ramadan in 1447 will start approximately 18 Februaryans end on approx 20 March 2026. 

It used to be a time when strict daytime fasting was observed in the UAE and a much more stringent modest dress code followed. However, in recent years the rules and social norms have become significantly more flexible.

Now that Ramadan falls during the cooler, peak tourism months, you’ll find almost all venues aimed at tourists now stay open throughout Ramadan, as do many daytime dining establishments, to the point where you may not even realise its Ramadan!

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still show respect for those who are fasting around you and moderate your behaviour. Its a fabulous opportunity to join with iftar (the evening breaking of the fast), learn more about the Islamic culture at venues such as SMCCU and partake in overnight festivities such as suhoor and late-night shopping are great reasons to visit at this time of year.

IMG Worlds of Adventure Festival of Fright

Theme park fans are set for a six-week celebration of the spooky season. Look out for the zombie apocalypse theme, thrilling rides, a pumpkin, trick-or-treat, and dance performances across the venue.

The event culminated on Saturday, 26 October, with the Festival of Fright, where you’ll find a party until the early hour.

This is a great option for your little ones who want to get involved with Halloween in an approachable way.
