Diwali Celebration in Dubai – Fireworks and Events in 2023

by Dubai Travel Planner

The Festival of Lights is among the most exciting and colourful events in the Dubai social calendar.

Yes, Dubai is a Muslim country, but with a large expatriate population of Hindu, Jain, and Sikh workers and a culture of acceptance of religions and celebrations makes Dubai one of the most exciting places to be outside of India during Diwali!

2023 UPDATE: Please note we started to update this guide for 2023 but found many events have been cancelled in a sign of respect to those suffering presently in Gaza. We have left the 2022 events below for those who are seeking venues still that may offer special menus but do not expect any big street parties for Diwali in Dubai as we’ve seen in previous year.

When is Diwali?

The date is variable by year, taking place during the Hindu lunisolar month of Kartika, usually falling between mid-October and mid-November on the Gregorian calendar.

In 2023, it will be celebrated on 12 November, but residents and visitors to Dubai can expect to see celebrations and events in the days and weeks surrounding.
