Traditionally, one of the most popular times of year for beach-goers looking to catch the glorious warm waters of the Middle East before the summer gets too hot, Dubai in May 2026 will no doubt feel a little different.
The recent events surrounding the Iran War have, unfortunately, cast uncertainty over travel plans, with many governments still advising against travel to the UAE. We urge you to check your own government advisory before making a decision.
For those who’d still like to keep their Dubai travel dreams alive this May, we’ll walk you through exactly what you can expect, and the events that have not been cancelled and postponed so far (obviously, still all very much subject to last-minute changes that may be beyond the control of organizers.
Daytime temperatures rise significantly during May. The average daytime maximum is 37.8°C (100°F), but don’t be surprised if temperatures reach as high as 43.5°C (110°F) by the end of the month. Overnight lows average 25.2°C (77°F).
Humidity in Dubai is at its lowest in May, so it is drier than usual, and rainfall is unlikely, though not unheard of. However, dust storms are common at this time of year, impacting visibility and air quality.
Sea temperatures are not quite at their summer peaks, but they do warm significantly in May, making it ideal for beachgoers to enjoy a dip in the azure waters of the Persian Gulf. You can expect water temperatures ranging from 26.3°C (79.3°F) to 31.2°C (86.2°F) by month-end.
Gone are the days when May was considered a quiet month in Dubai, when nothing much happens – quite the opposite. The May calendar is usually filled with an exciting line-up of events, though we do expect this will be significantly toned down in 2026 .
With Eid Al-Adha set to fall from May 26th until May 29th (subject to moon sighting and government-approved public holidays), visitors this May are in for an extra treat, with special celebrations and performances across the city.

May is a popular time to visit Dubai with your family, as schools in Europe take a short half-term break towards the end of the month. Schools locally often take a short break at this time, too (with Eid Al Adha occurring in the last week of May this year, expect it to be a busy time!
As May is getting quite hot to be outdoors unless you’re in the water, why not try these ideas:
Head out to Dubai Parks & Resorts—four theme parks in one location! Little ones will love Legoland Dubai, while older kids will likely prefer Motiongate. Book tickets in advance to save on gate passes! (Note that as significant portions of these parks are outdoors, they may be subject to closure due to the current conflict – check opening schedules online.)
You can still catch the end of the season at Dubai Miracle Garden too, though, go early to beat the heat. They are currently running a resident’s special offer: AED 30 through until 31 May, and under-12s will go free!

Is it good to visit Dubai in May?
If warm weather and low crowds sound appealing, then absolutely, May is a great time to be in Dubai. The daytime temperatures are hot (averaging 37.8°C/100°F), but if you avoid heading into the sun at the peak of the day, it’s still manageable for heat lovers.
Is it cheap to visit Dubai in May?
May was traditionally the start of the low season for tourism in Dubai, but in recent years, this has not been the case so much. With the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid now falling much earlier in the year, during March/April rather than late spring, we are seeing May as still being a popular month to visit, with fewer discounted deals.
That said, it is cheaper to visit Dubai in May than in April. And as long as you’re in before the second Eid (Eid Al Adha—early June in 2025), you should get good accommodation pricing along with an active events calendar in May
Do also bear in mind that many Europeans have a mini school break near the end of May that can push prices up towards the end of May.
Is Dubai too hot in May?
This all depends on your heat tolerance levels and your interests. The daytime average in Dubai during May is 37.8°C/100°F, getting hotter throughout the month, with highs as much as 43.5°C/110°F experienced.

If you are pregnant, have young children, or don’t like to be too hot and sweaty, you will be pushing it by the end of May. April is what we like to call Dubai’s golden month! Whilst Dubai does not have traditional seasons per se, it’s most definitely the city’s transitional month.
The mild days of winter are rapidly replaced by long, hot, sunny days, though still not quite the blistering heat of summer, making it perfect for those who love the warmth on their skin along with beach and water-based activities.
Note that due to the Iran War, events detailed in this April 2026 guide may be impacted. We have done our best to update this guide as of early April with planned and postponed events news, but do expect last-minute cancellations or postpones of events, particularly those involving large crowdsoutdoors.
There can be a rapid increase in daytime maximum temperatures from late March to late April. At the start of the month, Dubai normally experiences daytime highs around 30°C/86°F and by the end of April, 35°C/95°F with an average of 33.3°C/92°F.
Be prepared for a few scorching hot days, too. There is only a low probability of rain and a possibility of sandstorms and dusty days.
The sea temperature takes a little longer to reach summertime peaks. You can expect a mild average of 25°C/77°F in the water in April – but reaching 28°C/72°F by month-end – most find this perfect for swimming!
The UV Index in Dubai in April is 8, and you get, on average, 11 hours of sunshine. Take care out in the sun, and remember to pack plenty of sunscreen, along with a hat, sunglasses, and a water bottle wherever you go during the day to beat the heat.

Religious Celebrations in Dubai this April
The Christian celebration of Easter will fall on Sunday, 5 April 2026, and Orthodox Easter will be celebrated on the 12th of April 2026, meaning that events are likely to be spread across a two-week period.
Other special events in Dubai this April
We await news if the family-favorite outdoor event, Dubai Global Village, can reopen for a short stint before the summer, as gates have sadly been closed since the start of the conflict. All advertised reopenings so far have not been able to go ahead.

April is usually one of Dubai’s busiest tourism months due to its perfect beach weather, which coincides with school holidays in many countries.
It’s one of those months in Dubai when we strongly suggest booking tickets for top attractions well in advance (also in December and March), but build in some downtime to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
Try to do your outdoor activities early in the morning or late in the day; the middle of the day in April can be too intense for many people to be outside —unless they’re in the pool!

For those wanting to make the most of the April sunshine, why not try getting out onto the water for a unique view of the city? There are many choices available, from sunset cruises to breakfast buffets as you cruise around the Dubai Marina, the luxurious new Bluewaters Island development, and the iconic Palm Jumeirah.
And, of course, enjoy the best of Dubai’s beaches, whether you are staying at a beach resort, enjoying a beach club day or visiting one of the many free public beaches in Dubai these really are the highlight of Dubai in April (NB, some beaches are designated as ‘family only’ over the Eid long weekend, no bachelor men permitted)
You can still try a Dubai desert safari in April, though it’s recommended you either join a very early morning desert tour or wait until late evening to miss the peak heat of the day. Some camps may close up over Ramadan or at least offer a quite restricted program as there’s no entertainment permitted, such as dancing.
Dubai With The Kids in April 2026

When it’s too hot to be out, Dubai Mall offers a huge range of activities for an indoor retreat, try anything from ice skating to visiting the aquarium or get lost for hours in Kidzania or the Play DXB (formerly VR Park) for your older kids.
Unlike previous years, the local school break in 2026 is in March (and was moved forward by a week), so there will be fewer scheduled kids’ activities in the first two weeks of April, as we have seen in recent years.

You will likely experience near-perfect weather in Dubai in April if you love long, hot, sunny days. Sea temperatures might still be surprisingly cool at the start of the month, but you are entering the Middle East summer by the end of April.
The first few days of the month coinciding with Eid will be exceptionally busy, but thereafter it’s ‘business as usual’ with the Holy Month no longer falling in April.
Does it rain in Dubai in April?
Rainfall in Dubai in April is highly unlikely, but it can happen. On average, only 3mm of rain falls in April (though 2024 saw unprecedented rainfall and flooding); there’s no telling if we will see weather like this again in Dubai this coming April.
If it rains in Dubai, stay put for a while. It can cause chaos on the roads, but it normally passes as quickly as it arrives.

Yas Island sits on the eastern outskirts of Abu Dhabi, near the Zayed International Airport (AUH), making it one of the first Abu Dhabi tourist destinations you can reach from Dubai.
NB: Opening times can vary during the Holy Month of Ramadan, public holidays, and special events.
NB – The newly announced Disney Abu Dhabi will also be on Yas Island, but we don’t expect to see this open until at least 2030-2032; do keep it on your radar when planning a future trip to the UAE!
Dubai to Yas Island FREE Shuttle
When you book your tickets to any of the Yas Theme Parks, you can take advantage of the FREE Yas Express shuttle bus service from Dubai to Yas Island. This is by far the most convenient way to travel to Yas Island from Dubai at no additional cost.
You will need evidence of an e-ticket for any of the theme parks; the bus operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
There are now multiple designated starting points in Dubai (take note of the latest timetable here). Yas Express Route D includes buses that depart from:
D7 Deira City Centre (beside Colors Cafe) (leaves 9:30 AM, returns 10:30 PM)
D8 JA the Resort, JA Lake View Hotel (leaves 10:00 AM, returns 8:00 PM)
D9 Al Seef Heritage Hotel, Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef, Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Seef (leaves 9:30 AM, returns 9:25 PM)
Timing is subject to traffic conditions. All buses stop at Yas WaterWorld/WB World Abu Dhabi first, then at SeaWorld, then at Ferrari World.
Free Yas Express Shuttle from the Northern Emirates to Yas Island
There is also a daily service operating from the Northern Emirates to assist guests on a day trip to Abu Dhabi. This service departs from different locations each day:

Buying Your Yas Island Theme Park Tickets
You can purchase your Yas Theme Park tickets in advance to secure the lowest prices, including a free ride from Dubai. We highly recommend buying in advance, as on-the-door ticket prices are 10% more.
In addition to buying tickets from the parks themselves, there are several ticket resellers and tour operators you may find a better price with or extras thrown in, such as private transfers, for example:
NB, be careful of some city tours offering only a stop at Ferrari World – if it’s only scheduled for less than an hour on the itinerary, it’s almost certainly only a photo stop at the entrance – seriously, not that exciting! Thrill fans, make sure you get what you’re paying for, and your tour includes ENTRY to Ferrari World.
1 Day 2 Park Pass on Viator – ideal if you just need entry, save bundling your tickets, and cram more into just one day
Dubai Go City Explorer Pass – Despite the name, it covers Abu Dhabi attractions, too! Ferrari World, WB World Abu Dhabi, and Yas Waterworld are all included in this Dubai multi-attraction pass. We explain completely how Go City passes work here).
You can get a 2-park pass (AED 475), 3-park pass (AED 575), or 4-park pass (AED 675) online from any of the venues, though we’ve found it better value to use multi-park tickets from Get Your Guide.
If the Yas Island Shuttle bus timings do not work for you, and you already have your theme park tickets, you may prefer to arrange your own transfers; this is undoubtedly the fastest way to get to Yas Island from Dubai and will maximise your time at the parks. These are options to consider:
Use Get Transfer – a service that allows users to put in their journey details, and drivers bid for your fare. You set the vehicle size you need and whether you’d like it to be one-way or a return transfer. A good way to get competitive pricing over the regular ride-share service that will set your price for you (Works sort of similarly to In Drive, which you may be familiar with; In Drive is not presently an option available in the UAE)

Dubai to Yas Island Public Bus
You can choose to make your own way to Abu Dhabi from Dubai by Intercity Bus, then onwards to the Yas Island theme parks.
It’s not the most direct route and takes a long time, but if you plan to see other things in Abu Dhabi, it could be a practical option.
If you take a metered taxi from Dubai to Yas Island, you will likely pay the following, based on our experience:
From Downtown Dubai 250 AED ($68 USD)
From Dubai Airport 300 AED ($82 USD)
From JBR/Dubai Marina area 200 AED ($54 USD)
Taxis from Dubai are allowed to cross into the Emirate of Abu Dhabi without issue. However, some taxi drivers may insist that you stop at the first ADNOC petrol station after the border and ask you to switch to a local Abu Dhabi taxi to complete the journey. They are most likely near the end of their shift and don’t want the extra hour + journey back!
From Dubai, take the E11 Highway (Sheikh Zayed Road)
Stay left at Al Shahama for the E10, signposted to Abu Dhabi
Take the Yas Island East Exit for the E12 (also marked ‘Yas Leisure Drive‘)
Follow the blue signs that say ‘Yas Leisure Drive‘ until you reach the brown tourist signs. Follow each to your final destination – each theme park has its own free car parking.

Transfers from DXB Dubai Airport to Yas Island
There is no direct transfer service that runs from DXB to Yas Island; you would need to:
Get yourself from DXB to one of the pickup locations described above for the free shuttle
Pay for a taxi door-to-door
Arrange a private transfer driver as we’ve described above
Take public transport
Transport on Yas Island
Once you are on Yas Island, there is the free Yas Express, which runs between the theme parks, Yas Plaza hotels, the Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Bay, and the Yas Marina bars and entertainment area.
You can also catch taxis within the island, but bear in mind the minimum fare you will pay is AED 12 flat rate.
A new alternative, if you are after something unique, is hailing a Txai on Yas Island – not a spelling mistake! These unique driverless Robotaxis can be booked via app. They operate between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island with predetermined pick-up and drop-off locations, only at this stage, not the whole of Abu Dhabi city.
Yas Island to Dubai Transport
Returning to Dubai from Yas Island, you can return the same free shuttle service with your ticket as evidence that you have been to the parks.
If this does not fit your timings, however, you may need to take a metered taxi back to Dubai from Yas Island, or try a ride-share service such as Careem. They are available at all four venues and will take you door-to-door.

Want to Stay on Yas Island?
There is plenty to keep you busy on Yas Island for a full two days, so it’s a great idea to turn it into at least an overnighter from Dubai.
The closest hotel to the theme parks is The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton, sitting immediately adjacent to the entry of WB World and Yas Waterpark. It is the ideal place to base yourself overnight, especially with the kids, who will love the themed rooms. There are many top-rated restaurants at the venue and themed weekend brunches.
Nearby, you’ll find the Yas Plaza hotels. All of these hotels offer theme park tickets with your stay (if the option is selected when booking), making them a great alternative at a lower price, just a short shuttle ride from the Yas Island theme parks.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar calendar. Following the Hijri calendar, the start date of Ramadan is approximately 10 days earlier each year on the Gregorian calendar. In 2026, Ramadan 1447 will fall over February-March; the moon sighting committee confirms the exact date.
It is expected the 2026 dates to be 18 February 2026 to 19 March 2026
One of the Five Pillars of Worship of Islam – Saum – is the act of fasting during this holy month. Muslims must abstain from eating and drinking (among other things) between sunrise and sunset to teach themselves self-awareness, patience, and tolerance. The soul is said to be purified of evil influence, and a person’s faith in Allah strengthens.

What do non-Muslim tourists & residents need to observe during Ramadan in Dubai?
Non-Muslim expat residents and visitors are responsible for making sure there is a suitable environment for Muslims to observe Ramadan. Although you are not expected to join in with the fasting, you must show respect to those who are through your conduct.
Eating, drinking and smoking in public by adults during Ramadan is prohibited.
HOWEVER, contrary to laws that carry fines of up to 2000 AED for eating in public during Ramadan, general practice in Dubai has significantly changed over the last four years. Eating establishments previously needed special licenses to operate during daylight hours of Ramadan and blacked-out windows.
Dubai Department of Economic Development (Dubai Economy) issued a circular on 11 April 2021 stating that restaurants in the emirate will not have to screen visible dining areas during fasting hours in the Holy Month of Ramadan 1442. This has been the case again in the past four years, so the rule changes look permanent, and eating in public spaces is no longer prohibited.
You can still obtain food and drink in hotels and shopping centres in Dubai during Ramadan. Walking around eating and drinking in public is socially unacceptable, even if it is no longer illegal. If you are consuming food and drink, stay within designated dining areas.
You can do as you please during Ramadan in the privacy of your own home or hotel rooms as long as it doesn’t disturb others (i.e., no loud music and blatant partying).
What About Children During Ramadan in Dubai?
Younger children, especially those under six years old, are not expected to participate in fasting, whether Muslim or non-Muslim. Pre-pubescent children between 7 and 12 years old may start observing fasting for short periods. On reaching puberty, participation by all Muslims (some exceptions mentioned below) is required.
Schools in Dubai will start later and finish earlier during Ramadan. Individual schools will advise opening hours, but they are normally restricted to a maximum of 5-6 hours a day, and extracurricular activities are often cancelled.
You should see no change for younger children who attend nursery or playgroups, though hours may be reduced. You should freely feed toddlers or young children when they are hungry and dress them appropriately for the weather.

There are many circumstances under which a Muslim can be exempted from fasting, including if you are a pregnant woman, diabetic, breastfeeding, menstruating, sick, or of old age. The basic premise is that you should not participate if it harms your health.
For a non-Muslim who is pregnant or breastfeeding, you should still avoid openly eating or drinking in public, likewise for children between six and 12 years. It may be allowed, but even Muslims will do this discreetly and privately – that said, in the past few years, a blind eye seems to have been turned to public eating in Dubai during Ramadan.
If you are travelling through one of the country’s major international airports, you will see full food services operating as travellers are exempt from fasting (Muslims will make up a fasting day while travelling later in the year).

Breaking of the Fast – Iftar in Dubai
The fast is broken at maghrib (the sunset prayer time) by the firing of a cannon. This is followed by the sound of the Azan echoing from a mosque’s loudspeaker.
This has been a Ramadan tradition in Dubai since the 1960s. In Dubai, seven cannons are fired at various locations stationary locations, and this year, they’ve introduced a travelling cannon. Run by Dubai Police, including Burj Park, Eid prayer grounds in Al Mankhool, Al Baraha at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai City Walk, and Expo City Dubai will also be launching the iconic Iftar Cannon with Dubai Police, taking place nightly.
Iftar is literally the breaking of the fast, the meal taken immediately after sunset. This is a time for families to come together and eat a meal. Usually, a quick snack of water and organic and gourmet datesis taken before prayers, followed by a large meal with traditional delicacies such as harees, lamb ouzi, and mixed grill.
Many hotels in Dubai will host huge Iftar buffet extravaganzas and traditional tents for Ramadan. It is an incredibly unique experience to join in with Iftar celebrations.
A unique experience for tourists to join is the Ramadan Iftar Program, run by the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Join your local hosts for Arabic Coffee and dates, enjoy Iftar, and then visit the Diwan Mosque.

When is Iftar in Dubai?
Iftar timing varies by city as it occurs at sunset for that exact location. While the cannon is considered the official time, you can estimate the likely time based on when Maghrib is. (NB Dubai is always 4 minutes earlier than Abu Dhabi as it is further to the east).
Suhoor in Dubai
As the fast begins again at sunrise, Suhoor is the pre-dawn meal taken immediately before sunrise. Again, many hotels will provide suhoor on a grand scale, some starting suhoor offering as soon as iftar is cleared and lasting throughout the night.
(Also known as Lailat al Qadr) is the Night of Power, when Allah first revealed the Quran to the Prophet Muhammed.
The exact date is debated, but it is believed to be an odd date in the last 10 days of Ramadan. For many, prayers intensify in the final 10 days. 27 Ramadan is generally agreed as the night of observation; in 2026, this will likely be 15 March. It is not a public holiday in the United Arab Emirates, but something for tourists to be mindful of as it’s considered the Holiest of nights during what is already a special month.
Other Things to Be Mindful of during Ramadan in Dubai
Ramadan is not only about the act of fasting; for Muslims, it is also about abstention – including tobacco, sex, music – and tolerance.
Appropriate dress standards must be observed in public areas (more stringently enforced than usual). All grown-ups (includingteens) should be dressed conservatively and look to have arms and legs covered in public – and certainly avoid cleavage and tight clothing. This said, just as dining rules have relaxed in recent years, it seems so have clothing rules – don’t be THAT tourist!
Hold fire on any public displays of affection, avoid kissing, and even hand-holding between grown-ups (with your child is fine).
In that hour or so before sunset and Iftar, the patience of many is strongly tested, and you may experience some erratic driving. Best to steer clear of the roads, and if going for your evening meal, be mindful of letting others who might need it more go before you.
It is a time for peace and giving, so try to avoid shouting and anger, and especially no rude words or gestures.
Most workplaces will modify working hours throughout the Holy Month to accommodate the needs of those fasting (UAE Government workers may work from home on Fridays only in 2025 – this could impact some services).
You may also find shops have very different opening times, with many closed all day and open through most of the night. Major supermarkets and Malls can even be open 24 hours a day! You should have no problem finding an open supermarket throughout the day for groceries; you obviously shouldn’t consume anything until you get home.
Mosques that are open throughout most of the year for guided tours to non-Muslims may adjust or pause their programs during the Holy Month.
Many tourist attractions will adjust their hours, too; always check on websites/Facebook pages for changes to business opening hours at this time of year.
Attractions such as evening desert safaris will continue to operate, but the entertainment element of their program may be paused or altered over Ramadan.
Special events such as Ramadan Night marketsand other pop-ups after dark occur during Ramadan, adding to the uniqueness of visiting Dubai at this time of year.
Ramadan Timings in Dubai
Sometimes, key attractions change their opening hours during the Holy Month, though as Ramadan has crept earlier into Spring, we have found fewer attractions are now adjusting their opening hours for Ramadan. We are presently aware of these Ramadan hours in 2026.
Transport During Ramadan in Dubai (confirmed 2026)
The Dubai Metro will run Monday to Thursday & Saturday from 5:00 AM to midnight, Fridays from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM, Saturdays from 5.00am to midnight and Sundays from 8:00 AM to midnight.
Dubai Tram will run Monday to Saturday from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM.
Attraction Timings during Ramadan in Dubai (TBC 2026)
Dubai Mall Shops are open Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM to Midnight; Friday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 AM – food establishments will stay open until 2:00 AM
Global Village presently advertising normal hours; 4:00 PM to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 1:00 AM Thu to Sun -TBC if they’ll extend to 2:00 AM
Dubai Parks & Resorts Varies by the park – Legoland opens at 10:00 AM and closes 6:00 PM, Motiongate opens at 11:00 AM closes 8:00 PM/9:00 PM, and Bollywood from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM/11:00 PM weekends
Dubai Safari Park Day session 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (it doesn’t look like they’re doing the late-night sessions in 2023)
NB – if you’ve not visited Dubai for a few years, take note that the weekend has changed; Dubai now operates a 4.5-day week from Friday afternoon to Sunday.
It is a time of festivities and daytime feasts for Muslim families, also when people will dress in their new Eid clothes, ladies will have their hair and henna done and gift-giving occurs among other celebrations.
It is a very busy time in Dubai and also a national holiday – usually lasting three to four days, but for Government agencies and schools, this may be extended to a week.
Eid al-Fitr in 2026 will be announced towards the end of Ramadan, you should expect the holiday dates to fall around 19 to 22 March 2026.
These are usually declared after the official start of Ramadan, although Eid itself is still subject to moon sighting. The first sighting of the crescent moon marks 1 Shawwal.
Charity or Zakat – another of the Five Pillars of Islam – is considered very important during Eid celebrations, giving and thoughtfulness to those less fortunate. You may see a number of white tents popping up all over town even before Ramadan starts. These are for donating to the needy – it can be an excellent way to get your children involved in Ramadan and understand the importance of giving.

Eid al-Adha in Dubai
“The festival of the sacrifice” occurs approximately 70 days after the end of Ramadan. Arafat Day falls first, on the second day of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca – the 9th Day of Dhu Al Hijja on the Hijri calendar.
Eid al-Adha immediately follows this. Animals such as sheep or goats are sacrificed, and tradition dictates a third is eaten by the family, a third is given to relatives and friends, and a third is given to the needy.
This is another three to four-day public holiday though can be extended to a week also for Government departments and schools (always announced very last minute)
Arafat day in Dubai is due to occur on 25 May 2025 and Eid al-Adha 26 to 29 May 2026, subject to moonsighting
Should I Visit Dubai during Ramadan?
Many visitors unfamiliar with Islamic culture are understandably nervous when they learn they will be visiting Dubai during Ramadan. Is there anything they should really worry about?
We’ll take you through some of the questions we have received over the years to put your mind at ease:
Can I eat as a non-Muslim during Ramadan in Dubai?
Yes and No! As we explained above, you should not eat in public places or in front of those who are fasting out of respect.
The rules around this in Dubai are significantly changing, whereby more cafes and restaurants ARE open in Dubai during Ramadan, but it is still respectful to remain discreet. Certainly, no daytime eating while walking along the street or in a car; even if you’re unlikely to be fined, it’s socially unacceptable.
Can I not even drink water during Ramadan in Dubai?
Muslims indeed refrain from even drinking water; however, as a tourist, you can do so discreetly. You can drink with a meal in a designated restaurant or during the day, nip into a bathroom or anywhere not in the public eye to steal a sip (even though this has become lax in recent years, please try and remain respectful of those around you).
Within the confines of a resort, it is now permissible to drink poolside (use your discretion in the company of others who may be fasting).
What should I wear in Dubai during Ramadan?
Tourists are expected to dress to a slightly higher standard during Ramadan. While our dress code advice here discusses shorts and t-shirts being acceptable for most of the year, extra effort should be made to cover shoulders and knees during Ramadan – you don’t need a full-length abaya or kandura, just show a little less skin!
Unfortunately, many tourists flaunt these guidelines during the Holy Month. Please don’t be one of them. Remain respectful of the fact that you are in a different culture, even if it feels quite ‘Westernised’ most of the time these days in Dubai City.
If you are staying at a Dubai resort, you will be able to wear your swimwear in the appropriate parts of the hotel as you would year-round – just cover up when heading through the public areas of the resort.
Can a non-Muslim attend Iftar?
Yes, non-Muslims are very welcome to attend an Iftar and enjoy the experience. You should dress respectfully for the occasion and be mindful to let those who have been fasting all day go first.
You can have Iftar anywhere in Dubai; however, if you’d like to understand more about the occasion, we strongly recommend you book and pay for an evening with SMCCU.
Can tourists drink alcohol during Ramadan in Dubai?
Another area that has evolved over the years. Non-Muslim tourists areallowed to drink in Dubai as we discuss here. However, it can be a little different during Ramadan. Serving alcohol, especially during the day, used to be strictly taboo, with service only starting after the sun sets, if at all.
This has changed in recent years, and it seems you can continue to be served alcohol at many venues throughout the Holy Month just as you would any other time of year.
Most restaurants and Ramadan tents will NOT serve alcohol with Iftar, but the wording is variable. If they advertise “hops & grapes” or similar wording, alcohol IS included.
When travelling through the airport, alcohol used to NOT be served during the day in DXB, but we found it was allowed in 2021 and has been allowed ever since.
Is it even worth coming if tourist attractions will be closed?
Contrary to popular belief, most attractions in Dubai WILL remain open throughout Ramadan, especially those catering to tourists, including the theme parks, Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and museums.
You may observe a slower pace of life, and life in Dubai tends to move to late nights.
There may be variations in opening hours (many extending until much later into the evening), and it can be quieter than other times of the year, which can certainly work to your advantage (given dates fall over the Northern Hemisphere spring break, this is no longer the case; in fact, March/April remains one of the busiest times to visit Dubai, despite the Holy Month and fasting).
What is the appropriate greeting to use during Ramadan?
“Ramadan Kareem” is the polite greeting to use, and during Eid, “Eid Mubarak”.
Is Ramzan in Dubai the same as Ramadan?
Yes, Ramzan and Ramadan are the same thing, just written differently depending on what part of the world you come from; many from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan still use Ramzan in written format, but you’d be perfectly understood if asking about Ramzan that you are referring to Ramadan.
Are there any other great reasons to visit Dubai during Ramadan?
Previously during Ramadan, you could find cheaper flight and accommodation packages than at other times of the year. However, now that Ramadan is in March and the peak tourism season for the UAE, this is no longer the case!
You will likely now find better deals to come to the UAE AFTER Ramadan and Eid when it’s starting to get hot in May – prices peak again early June for Eid al-Adha.
It is also an incredibly joyful time of year. The city comes alive in the evenings, and it is a time of happiness and celebration for Muslims. These days, it’s not a disadvantage to visit Dubai during Ramadan; in fact, it can be one of the greatest times for a cultural and beachy holiday all in one.

Remember to park any opinions you may have about whether it is “right” or “healthy” or any other beliefs contrary to the Pillars of Islam; whether you are a visitor or an expatriate resident, you are a guest in the country, and these are the rules and local customs that must be observed.

February is a superb time for tourists who like to avoid the peak crowds of high season and enjoy great outdoor activities in Dubai while the weather is still mild.
It’s also an excellent month for romantics looking for Valentine’s holiday deals in one of Dubai’s luxury resorts; adventure lovers will want to head to the mountains, and sports fans of all varieties will be well-catered for with a huge lineup of indoor and outdoor events in the United Arab Emirates this February.
Visitors should note that the holy month of Ramadan is expected to start on or around the 17th February (subject to the moon sighting). Over the last few years tourists have barely noticed the impact of Ramadan as many restaurants and cafes now stay open throughout the holy month.
Dubai’s average daytime maximum temperature in February is 25.6°C/78°F, with highs as much as 37.5°C/99°F and lows overnight averaging 15.6°C/60°F. The Average UV Index in February in Dubai is 6-8.
In February, you should expect sea temperatures on average of 22.4°C/72.3°F (minimum of 21.3°C/71.2°F at the start of the month through to a maximum of 23.5°C/73.4°F by the end of the month)
While the outside air temperature is starting to warm up for spring, it is the coolest time of the year for water temperatures, albeit most resorts and hotels heat their pools for year-round enjoyment.
Fog and rain are both common occurrences in February, but on the whole, you will mostly experience bright sunny days and pleasant weather. Cloud cover is rare, but it can happen in the early mornings if you are thinking of doing any sightseeing from above.

Get to know Old Dubai and the streets of the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Plan a visit to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and enjoy the many laneways, galleries and cafes that surround the area – our favourites include the Coffee Museum and XVA Cafe, the perfect place to get a feel of this heritage area of the city (NB, the Dubai Museum remains closed for renovations).
For a modern take on Arabic architecture and beauty, take an abra through the canals around Madinat Jumeirah Souk, with the stunning Burj al Arab backdrop and exquisite luxury Arabian surroundings, or experience the new guided tour offering inside the opulent Burj Al Arab.
Walk a stretch of the Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk, covering 11 km of the outer frond of the Palm. Start from Atlantis in the centre, or Rixos Hotel to the east, and One&Only The Palm to the west, and your journey will take you past some of the most luxurious hotels in the world!
February is a great time for a trip out to the desert while avoiding the high temperatures of the summer months. You can take a traditional desert safari, with dune bashing, camel rides and a bedouin feast; or enjoy the sand dunes and peacefulness of the desert at the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

It’s worth making the short trip to the emirate of Sharjah between the 5th and 23rd February for the Sharjah Light Festival. Enjoy dazzling light shows that transform the city skyline into stunning works of art. Note Ramadan rules are more strictly enforced in the emirate of Sharjah and the possession and consumption of alcohol is forbidden.
Whilst the days are still so mild, the perfect activity with kids is to enjoy the parks and gardens that the city has to offer – yes, in the desert! It’s also a local mid-term school break, so expect a few extra activities to go on around mid-month. Our favourite Dubai parks for winter are:
Dubai Miracle Garden – where you will find the world’s largest flower garden by total number of blooms, a truly magical walk through floral houses to the centrepiece Emirates A380 floral creations. Swing and hammock your way around and enjoy one of the city’s prettiest little spots.
Safa Park – a favourite with locals, this is where you will find your slice of tranquillity in inner Dubai. Barbequing, ball games and picnicking are all popular activities in this family park, along with bike ridingand boating on the lake, a bargain day out for just a few dirham entry fee.
Note that some water parks do their annual maintenance in the coolest winter months; some rides and attractions may be closed, so check before booking tickets to avoid any disappointment:

February is historically the second coolest month of the year in Dubai. Daytime temperatures generally do not exceed 30°C, you can expect an average high of a very mild 25.6°C/78°F.

January enjoys the mildest weather of the year, making it a popular time of year to visit Dubai and enjoy its many outdoor events and natural highlights.
The first week after the New Year is still quite busy, but you will find for the rest of January, there are fewer crowds than you’d ordinarily experience in Dubai in December, making it the ideal time to visit.
The weather is on the cool side for water-based activities – some water parks may close late in the month for annual renovations – but there are still plenty of things to enjoy around the city and beyond without the stifling heat of the hotter summer months.
Dubai’s average daytime maximum temperature in January is 24.2°C (76°F), with highs as much as 31.8°C (89°F) and overnight lows averaging 14.6°C (58°C).
In January, you should expect sea temperatures of 23.9°C (75°C) on average. Maximum sea temperatures are expected at 25.9°C (77°F) through to a minimum of 22°C (73°F).
Both rain and fog can commonly occur in January. There is little you can do to prepare for these natural occurrences, but if it rains, seek cover fast, as it can pour hard and fast but tends to clear quickly.
Fog tends to form overnight and burns off during the morning – do factor this in if you are planning anearly morning Burj Khalifa visit– you may be looking out on a blanket of white, or with brilliant views of the skyscrapers poking through the clouds!

January is perfect for cooler-weather outdoor activities but possibly too cold for swimming, so why not try Dubai from the sky while daytime temperatures are manageable?

Dubai Global Village– for a whirlwind trip around the globe and a feast of colour and magic hidden on the outskirts of Dubai. Entry is super cheap for the experience you get; open from 4:00 PM to midnight (1:00 AM on Fri/Sat) and Mondays for families & ladies only.
Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary – Open all year round but best visited in the cooler winter months when migratory bird numbers are at their peak. This is one of Dubai’s best outdoor nature experiences so close to the city where you can observe mangrove life and the most treasured guests, the pink flamingoes.
It’s a great time of year not only for exploring Dubai but exploring around the Emirates. We suggest January is the perfect time of year to make a day trip to:
The Liwa Desert – head beyond Abu Dhabi and toward the Saudi border to experience the rich red dunes of the empty quarter and historic forts from a bygone era. Best to go with an experienced 4×4 driver to tackle the giant dunes.
The Musandam Peninsula – a whole other country in a day? Why not?! Musandam is our absolute favourite part of the Arabian Peninsula. It’s the tiny enclave of Oman that sits to the very northeast of Dubai & the UAE, jutting into the straight of Hormuz. Here, you can sail by traditional boat amongst the giant mountainous that have earned it the nickname “the Norway of Arabia” and enjoy dolphin spotting on a truly magical day out – best tackled with a guided tour to get you through the border crossing process.
Visit the historic Oasis City of Al Ain – home to the UAE’s listed UNESCO World Heritage sites. Situated in the Abu Dhabi Emirate on the Oman border (south of Dubai), Al Ain is a treasure trove for culture-seekers. Birthplace of the country’s founding Father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayhan, there are many museums and historic forts to explore, as well as the Al Ain Oasis and the 5000-year-old Jebel Hafeet beehive tombs.
Dubai with Kids in January 2026
Try one of the exquisite outdoor family Brunches for delectably delicious food and kids’ entertainment galore – from candy bars to bouncy castles. Most hotels will let under 6s in for FREE, and 6- to 12-year-olds eat at 50% off.
Elsewhere across the city, a favourite for active kids is venturing out to Mushrif Park to see the International Village and take on the ropes courses and ziplines at Aventura – courses are ideal from about six years old plus, or they have a juniors area too.

Does it rain in Dubai in January?
It is possible to experience rain in Dubai during January. It can be difficult to predict in advance, but Dubai can experience occasional winter thunderstorms. The city averages between 10-20mm of rainfall in January. There can also be cloud seeding activity, which increases the possibility of rain.
A heavy downpour may be experienced during your January trip to Dubai but it certainly won’t put a dampener on your whole trip, with plenty of blue skies on the forecast. We wouldn’t go packing an umbrella ‘just in case’; a sun hat and sunscreen will be far more useful.
Is it cold in Dubai in January?
This depends on where you’re heading and what you’re doing. In the city of Dubai, you can expect mild days to around the mid-20s, and cooler evenings when you might feel more comfortable in jeans and a pullover.
If you are heading to the mountains of the desert overnight, it can be substantially cooler than on the coast, so you’ll want some warmer layers (though, in truth, it rarely goes below 10°C, which most visitors would still consider very mild for January!)
Is January a good time to visit Dubai?
We’d argue that January is the best month to visit Dubai, especially if you’re not a big fan of the heat and want to explore more of Dubai’s outdoor attractions.
The major crowds in Dubai normally dissipate within a week of New Year’s. The rest of January is busy but manageable (though we suggest if you’re a visitor, avoid key attractions on weekends if you don’t like queues!)
January is on the cool side for a beach or water park vacation, but you’ll find hotels with heated pools you can still use.

December is probably our favourite month to encourage visitors to Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. There is so much to enjoy, from the perfect weather to Eid al Etihad (National Day) and Christmas festivities around town – though it is also one of the most expensive and crowded times to visit.

Dubai Weather in December
If it’s the scorching heat of the summer months that has ever put you off visiting Dubai, get set for the wonderfully mild days of December and the winter months in Dubai.
December’s average temperature is around 26°C/78.8°F, and the average sea temperature is around the same, 25.6°C/78°F. By month’s end, it can even be a little too nippy for ocean swimming—ensure your resort or hotel has a temperature-controlled pool!
The minimum temperature you can expect overnight in Dubai in December is 15°C/59°F. You won’t need much more in the city than a light jacket. Though note, if you are heading to the desert or the mountains overnight on a camping or glamping trip, it could be several degrees cooler; you’ll want a warmer layer of clothing.
With an average of 8 hours of sunshine, you should expect mostly blue skies, though rain and fog are not unheard of in the winter season. Use the cooler weather to get out there and enjoy the natural wonders that surround Dubai.

Cultural Events & Special Occasions
Commemoration Day is 1 December, in honour of those soldiers who served their country and lost their lives for the United Arab Emirates. Previously called Martyrs Day, this day of national importance and reflection has been moved to coincide with the National Day holidays. (It is not always a Public Holiday, but events will be held around the country.)
National Day (Eid al Etihad) traditionally 2 & 3 December, 2025 will mark 54 years since the unification of the United Arab Emirates; previously called National Day, the event was briefly renamed to Union Day, and it seems they have now settled on Arabic name Eid Al Etihad – meaning ‘Celebration of the Union’. Due to the 2nd and 3rd falling midweek, the public holiday has been moved to the 1st and 2nd December for 2025. You will find 54th Anniversary Eid Al Etihad events across the city.
Christmas Festivities – a great lineup of events is still expected across the city, from winter markets and Christmas trees, to opera shows, kids’ sing-along events and, of course, Christmas Day brunches and takeaway meals. New Year’s Eve – 31 December always sees spectacular fireworks that light up many of the city’s famous buildings. Crowds can be manic, and hotel costs in prime locations are sky-high, so book well in advance to enjoy this one! Live Events in Dubai This December
The queen of Arabic pop, Nancy Ajram will perform live at the Atlantis Dubai Festival on 5 December. She will be joined by Arabic singing sensation Adam ensuring an unforgettable night of music for those lucky enough to attend.
Korean star Peggy Gouwill be bringing her unique mix of vocals and beats to Pacha Icons at Five Luxe on 6 December.
December 7 brings The Festive Concert to Dubai Opera’s main auditorium, featuring the National Youth Orchestra and National Youth Choir of Dubai, this promises to provide a wonderful start to the festive season.
Renowned Palestinian composer and pianist, Faraj Suleiman, will take to the stage at the Dubai Opera on 8 December.
Fans of Japanese culture shouldn’t miss the Japan Culture Convention, which provides an opportunity to learn about Japanese traditions and contemporary culture through immersive workshops and performances. 12-14 December, at Burj Park.
For something a bit different, why not head aboard the QE2 for a murder mystery dinner on 13 December!
Don’t miss the festive ballet The Nutcracker at Dubai Opera between 18 and 21 December. Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to book early!

From 20-24 December there will be Carols by Candlelight with the Firdaus Orchestra at the Al Wasl Dome in Expo City.
Given the mild sunny days, it’s a perfect time of year to do some of Dubai’s more physical outdoor activities. Our top picks for things to do in Dubai in December are:
Take on the Ras al Khaimah zipline course – Jebel Jais Flight! Not only the longest zipline in the world, where speeds can reach up to 160kms an hour, but also Jebel Jais Tour – seven different zipline courses that meet on a suspended platform in the Hajar Mountains.
Take a tour around the world at Dubai’s Global Village – an international fair-style event held nightly; you’ll find seasonal celebrations, including Union Day and Christmas, marked with stage shows and fireworks.
This is the perfect time of year to experience Dubai Garden Glow & Dinosaur Park in Zabeel Park. An evening wonderland, the festive season makes it all the more magical.
Take a tour of the UAE’s east coast. Cross the spectacular Hajar Mountains and experience the calm, warm waters of the Gulf of Oman. There are snorkelling opportunities, as well as boat tours that can take you in amongst the spectacular khors of Musandam, Oman, without needing to cross the land border. Check out this east coast Fujairah day trip, or you can hire your own car and set your own pace.
For something unique this December, head to the Sharjah exclave of Kalba on the east coast for the weekend of 14-15 December for the inaugural Adventure Festival on 14-15 December for 2 days to partake in a huge range of outdoor and nature-filled adventures. All activities are included in your entry, with the opportunity to participate in water sports, hiking, mountain biking, yoga sessions, and outdoor survival skills sessions.
Take a Desert Safari – the cooler weather makes it the perfect time to get out on a dune-bashing adventure, or if you’d prefer a more sedate way to enjoy the desert, with an eco-friendly focus, take a journey to the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.
Visit Hatta. Hatta can be found to the south of Dubai, near the Oman border, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Downtown Dubai. Enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding, or try the tandem water bikes with a friend! The Hatta Heritage Village will take you through the fascinating history of this mountainous border town, or get into the mountains on one of the hiking trails or hire a mountain bike. Day trip to Abu Dhabi – there’s no better time to visit Abu Dhabi than in the cooler winter months. The month of December is particularly special, as you’ll get to experience the special events that surround Union Day, as well as Christmas Festivities, from Winter Fest on Yas Island to special theme park theming at Warner Bros World, SeaWorld and Ferrari World for the winter season. Don’t miss the public art exhibition Manar Abu Dhabi happening this winter.
Seek out Souk Madinat Jumeirah – one of the most festive places to visit in Dubai in December. The annual Madinat Jumeirah Festive Market is one of the best in the city, with the Burj Al Arab providing a beautiful backdrop to their delightful Christmas tree.
Dubai with the Kids in December 2026
This is a fabulous time of year to visit Dubai with your family, though, as we’ve mentioned, it is also one of the most expensive times to visit, and accommodation is booked up in popular locations.
There are activities aplenty for families to enjoy; here are some suggestions for December:
Attend a Christmas show at the QE2 Theatre – this hotel-come-entertainment venue permanently docked at Port Rashid is a wonderful family experience with winter shows a highlight. This year Sinead the Sailorwill take to the stage between the 18 and 27 December to share the thrill of his amazing adventures! Younger children (3-11) might also enjoy The Great Christmas Elf Bake Off – a live interactive show on the 6 and 7 December on the QE2.
Families can also enjoy Rapunzel and her holiday wish at the New Covent Garden Theatre from the 5-24 December and Annie The Musicalat the Zabeel Theatre from the 12-14 December. Dubai based children’s entertainer Magic Phil will be bringing his Christmas Cracker show to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel Theatre from 12-14 December. Then from the 17-29 December the magic of the panto hits with Cinderella (also at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel).
Swing your way through Mushrif Park – a little hidden gem on the city’s outskirts is Aventura Parks– high ropes and zip lines through the almost forest-like Mushrif Park. Ideal in winter when the waterparks are getting a little cool, but your kids still want an active adventure – other than the occasional Emirates flight landing over your heads, you won’t believe you’re in the city! Thrilling roller coasters at Motiongate – home to the most thrilling rollercoasters in the Middle East, Motiongate, part of the Dubai Parks & Resorts complex on the city’s western side, is a family favourite of ours. Yes, December is one of the best times to visit Dubai if you prefer cooler weather. It is also peak tourist season, so be mindful that this makes it the most expensive time for accommodation, and you can expect lines and crowds everywhere you go.
Does it rain in Dubai in December?
It’s not unheard of for rain to fall in Dubai in December, though it’s not a daily occurrence – we wouldn’t go packing an umbrella ‘just in case.’ If it does rain in Dubai, it’s best to try and stay put, as it can lead to chaos on the roads and minor flash flooding. It typically lasts less than a day or two before rain clouds move on. The average precipitation is about 20mm in December.
Do they celebrate Christmas in Dubai?
Dubai is in a Muslim country, though it receives a large influx of international workers and tourists of all religions. Whilst Christmas is not a recognised public holiday, it is widely observed in Dubai in the tourism and hospitality sector. You will have no problem finding some festive cheer in Dubai in December – although they may be called winter festivals rather than Christmas.
Is Dubai expensive in December?
Due to increased demand for hotels during December, December can be an expensive time to visit Dubai. There can be shopping bargains to be had and deals if you book in advance, but do expect it to be the most expensive time to visit Dubai as demand outstrips supply for basically everything – particularly the week of Christmas to New Year.

Early December is one of the most wonderful times of year to be in Dubai. Not only do you experience fantastic mild weather, but there is always so much going on, from the joy of many seasonal events returning to the great outdoors to winter festivals, markets and, of course, the birth of the nation of the UAE.
Eid Al Etihad – ‘ Celebration of the Union’ – is marked annually on 2 December as the day the country of the United Arab Emirates was formed in 1971 under a Federal Constitutional Monarchy. Several days are declared as ‘public holidays’ depending on what day of the week December 2nd falls upon.
In 2025, the Eid Al Etihad holiday has been announced for 1st & 2nd December, making a 4-day long weekend for many people in the UAE.
Dubai National Day Events & Fireworks 2025
We strongly advise booking early for restaurants offering fireworks views and expect to pay significantly more than usual.
Global Village
Always a fun way to mark National Day in the UAE, Dubai Global Village will be putting on special shows to mark Eid al Etihad from 27 November -3 December this year.
This year’s celebration will honour the theme of unity and will boast magnificent decorations as well as 10 cultural installations. There will be chances to learn about local handicrafts and try local foods, as well as enjoy the festive ambience. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of performances, including ‘from the desert to the stars’, between the 1st and 3rd December.
On the 1st and 2nd December, there will be a UAE-themed drone show and fireworks to really celebrate the occasion!
The normal entry fee to Global Village applies to participating in these events.
Bluewaters and the popular beachfront area JBR always celebrate in style with a magnificent fireworks display. This year the show is due to start at 9.00 pm.
This beautiful waterfront venue, adjacent to Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and overlooking Dubai Creek, is at the cultural heart of the city. You can expect a traditional national day atmosphere, with food stalls and some special events. Fireworks are also scheduled for 9.00 pm.
City Walk
We still await final news of what festivities will take place at this popular city venue in 2025.
Jalsat Moments at CocaCola Arena, City Walk is due to take place on Thursday, 28 November 2024. This stage show will showcase performances by Ayed Yousef, Eida Al-Menhali, Nabill Shuail and Abdulaziz Al-Duwaihi.
Dubai Festival City
Dubai Festival City will be pulling out all the stops this year, with fireworks and a performance by renowned songstress Balqees.
Doors open at 18.00, with fireworks at 20.00, followed by the live performance by Balqees at 20.10.
We are awaiting news of an official Eid al-Etihad events for the Burj Khalifa and the surrounding Downtown area of the city. The normal Burj Lightshow and Fountain Show program will run throughout the long weekend with no doubt a UAE flag-coloured theme.
If you want front-row seats at one of the nearby restaurants, make sure you check out our guide to the best dining venues on Burj Lake, most premium venues will no doubt be taking reservations well in advance for outside seating.
In the run-up to Eid Al Etihad, Expo City is hosting the second edition of Dhai Dubai – a light-art festival, as well as the first ever Festival of Cake! Over the long weekend, there will be a variety of events and live-performances taking place in the impressive Al Wasl Dome.
UAE Flag Garden
Thousands of UAE flags have been planted in.a remarkable ‘garden’ adjacent to one of the UAE’s most iconic landmarks – the Burj Al Arab.
The garden is open from 31 October 2025 until 10 Jan 2026 – Umm Suqeim
Al Shindagha Museum
Celebrate the history and culture of the UAE at this open-air heritage museum. There will be live performances, traditional displays as well as light projections and special exhibitions.
Hatta
For a slightly different Eid Al Etihad, why not head to the mountains of Hatta for a shirt staycation? There will be traditional performances as well as the chance to get closer to nature with biking, hiking and kayaking opportunities. On the 2 December, the Hatta sign will light up the sky with a mesmerizing firework display at 8.00pm.
National Day Events & Cultural Traditions in Dubai
Along with fireworks, flags, and festivals, there are many traditional events that you will see all over town. Here’s what you might expect to see and experience:
Al Ayala Dance – Also known as Ayyala, yowalah or stick dancing, is an Emirati traditional group dance with separate groups of males and females. Men in their kanduras face one another in rows with bamboo sticks, whilst musicians move between them. Girls in traditional dress (far more colourful than the usual black) will stand in front, tossing their long black hair from side to side. (The dance is so important to the country’s heritage it is now recorded on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Items of Humanity)
Yola Dance – Also known as Yowla, Yollah or al-yawlah is a traditional weapons dance or victory dance involving boys or men swinging sticks, swords or (replica!) rifles.
Falconry Displays – a highly valued custom in the UAE, falconry displays help visitors understand the importance of these birds of prey to Bedouin life.
Ishy Bilady – the country’s national anthem will be played loud and clear throughout events over the weekend – you can pick up some pointers on the words here.

Dubai Parks and Resorts
There will be special promotions and events across Dubai Parks and Resorts throughout the National Day weekend.
There are usually special offers at City Centre Malls throughout the city over the national day weekend. As well as enjoying some retail therapy, visitors will be treated to a variety of cultural performances including Al Harbia and Ayala dancing.
There’s always some great retail savings to be had over the National Day long weekend, particular if you’re a Dubai resident with an EID.

Other Things Visitors Should Know About Eid Al Etihad (National Day) in Dubai
In 2025, schools, Government offices and most businesses will have Monday and Tuesday off to celebrate this special occasion – visitors should be mindful of this if they need any sort of visa processing etc.
If you have a car, public parking is free! (but be mindful that everywhere can be INCREDIBLY busy!)
Want to get dressed up? Go for it! Traditional dress in the colours of the UAE flag, locals and residents alike wear the UAE’s colours of red, green, white and black with pride, you should feel free to do the same.

Winter in Dubai brings with it mild temperatures, plenty of sunshine, festivals and live entertainment, with a very low chance of your winter plans being washed out by inclement weather. Let’s take a deep dive into Dubai’s desert climate and the best winter activities in Dubai and The United Arab Emirates.

When is Winter in Dubai?
Following the northern hemisphere seasons, winter in Dubai falls from December to March. However, unlikely much of Europe and North America don’t expect snow and freezing temperatures. Dubai likes to blissfully glide into a mild winter of blue skies, sunny days, and crisp cool evenings – but rarely what most would call COLD.
Rather than a traditional four seasons, Dubai’s seasons can best be described as simply summer and winter, with huge degrees of heat variation between the two (or hot, very hot, and OMG, I can’t believe it gets that HOT!).
Winter in Dubai still brings plenty of sunshine and mild days
The cooler, more bearable months of the year generally run from late October, where we see a significant drop in daytime highs (from the 40’s°C down to the lows 30’s°C in November), through to mid-May, where the temperatures start hitting into the 40°C/100°F + realms once more.
Dubai Winter Temperature: How Cold Does Dubai Get in Winter?
The coolest month of the year for Dubai is January, where the average temperature is 24.2°C (76°F). The average overnight low in January is 14.6°C (58°F), and the average sea temperature of Dubai in January is 23.9°C (75°F).
You can expect, on average, 8 hours of sunshine on a Dubai winter’s day.
There can, of course, be extremes in Dubai at any time of year, and winter is no exception. Daytime temperatures in January can climb over 30°C (86°F), and nighttime temperatures in the mountains and desert can get as cold as freezing – snow can occur on the UAE’s highest peak – Jebel Jais – on the coldest of days.
Rain is not a daily occurrence in Dubai; however, increasingly, rainstorms can occur – usually downpours all at once rather than days on end of rain and drizzle.
On average, you can expect five rain days per month between December and March. It is hard to predict precisely when it might rain in Dubai more than a few days out, so we wouldn’t go planning a winter holiday in Dubai around the weather, nor even pack an umbrella.
However, be aware it CAN happen and when it does…. oh boy! Flash flooding and traffic chaos can ensue. It’s best if it rains during your trip to Dubai to head somewhere safely indoors and wait it out until it passes >> see our indoor suggestions below!
Be aware that Dubai also engages in cloudseeding, which has resulted in more frequent rain showers than the UAE has historically experienced.
Fog in Dubai
By far, a bigger issue in Dubai in winter than rain is fog. For most of the winter months in Dubai, in fact, from even as early as September, you will start to experience some phenomenal morning fogs descending upon the city due to theovernight humidity.
This low-level fog normally burns off by mid-morning to leave a beautiful, crisp, and sunny day ahead. The fog can, however, cause air traffic chaos and problems on the fast-flowing roads. On rare occasions, it can be so severe as to close DXB airport.
Things to Do in Dubai in the Winter
So, on to the fun stuff and why we love winter in Dubai so much: the cooler weather means a return to our favourite parks and outdoor activities! Winter 2025/26 really starts with the return of outdoor markets and seasonal favourites like Global Village and rolls on with Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and so much more, making the most of the great outdoors.
Expo City Dubai
Expo 2020 may now feel like a distant memory, but as promised, the grounds of the amazing site have been turned into a city of the future and are well worth checking out this winter. New in 2025, they have introduced the Al Wasl season pass which includes events from Fall harvest through to Ramadan.
Winter City under the Al Wasl Dome is one of the highlights with a Christmas market, Santa’s House, Frosty’s Farm House and an enchanting Carols by Candlelight service from 20 to 24 December.

Unlike most of the city’s parks that are beautifully manicured, Mushrif Park has a more wilderness feel of native shrubland amongst the native Ghaf trees. A popular weekend picnicking spot and home to the treetop ropes course, Aventura,it’s hard to believe such greenery exists close to the city!
Set along the banks of Dubai Creek and managed by Dubai Municipality, Ras Al Khor Wildlife Reserve is one of the most unique outdoor experiences in Dubai. Home to birds, most famously the flamingo, mammals, reptiles, and fish, this is one of the city’s hidden gems worthy of a half-day visit to soak in inner-city tranquillity.
A new instalment of Dubai Municipality, this beautifully laid out park in the Al Khawaneej area of the city is dedicated to the Holy Quran. Covering 60 acres, the park is open to all faiths to explore, including the “Glasshouse” which displays plants mentioned in the Holy Quran and the “Cave of Miracles” which tells stories from the Holy Book.
Recently reopened after a long renovation, La Mer is now known as J1 Beach and has turned to upscale beach clubs and dining rather than colorful beach huts and free days in the sun – watch this space as its only opened in stages since October so we can’t report back just yet!
Dubai has a surprising range of great parks and outdoor spaces
Dubai Safari Park– Found in the Al Warqa 5 area, the park plays host to over 3000 animals, with educational, conservation, and protection at the core of their mission. Last winter they also offered evening sessions, we are waiting to see if these will return.
The Walk & The Beach JBR – this iconic beachfront area of Dubai has something for everyone. City meets beach on the bustling waterfront walk. Enjoy cosmopolitan restaurants to ice cream stands and kids splash parks, camel rides along the beach, and a huge range of water sports are on offer.
Al Seef – where old meets new along the western bank of the Dubai Creek. Traditional architecture seamlessly blends the city’s oldest neighbourhood into this modern waterfront destination. Catch your boat tours from here or enjoy a bite overlooking the water and stroll the touristy shops.
Desert safaris, dune sports and camping in Dubai in winter
Winter is an ideal time to explore Dubai’s desert. On an evening, overnight safari, or early morning hot air balloon ride, you will definitely want to pack a warm jumper/sweater and take long trousers with you, along with closed-toe shoes. You may even want a beanie and scarf if you’re particularly susceptible to the cold, but it’s not super cold. Organised desert camps will provide you with the necessary blankets.
With the cooler day temperatures too, winter is the best time for a daytime Dubai desert safari. Operates have re-opened post-Covid-19 with a strict range of safety measures in place to make them a fun and enjoyable experience for all.

If you’d prefer something more sedate and eco-friendly, we strongly suggest you try one of the tours in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, where the focus is moe on the native flora and fauna and appreciating the serenity of the desert.
Dubai enjoys a spectacular array of outdoor dining venues, and in the winter months, people take full advantage of this to enjoy the city’s spectacular skyline.
Whether it’s city vistas and a thriving party scene you are after with views of the Burj Khalifa or romantic and uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai has a rooftop bar to suit!

Explore the Old City and Souks of Dubai
The cooler months of winter make it ideal for longer strolls outside. You could spend a full day exploring the museums around Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, then take a traditional abra over to the Deira side of Dubai Creek to experience the many souks of Dubai, most popular the Gold & Spice Souks, and pick up some Dubai souvenirs!
The newly re-opened Shindagah Historic District would make a great outing this winter to rediscover a historic part of the city brought back to its former glory.
Whilst many hotels have their own private beaches, there are a number of public beaches and beach clubs around the city offering a variety of different experiences. From sophisticated beach hang-outs to chilled-out family spots like Kite Beach,; Dubai really does have it all when it comes to beach experiences.
Most beach clubs close during the hottest months, and whilst December and January may not feel like beach weather for many residents, temperatures are still considered ‘warm’ by many visitors. Mamzar Beach Park in Deira is more frequented by locals than tourists but makes an excellent outdoor venue in winter
The cooler days of winter make it a great time to explore the other emirates of the UAE (did you know Dubai is one of 7 Emirates of the UAE? Here are our top Dubai day trip suggestions:
Adrenaline junkies, head to Ras Al Khaimah! Home to the UAE’s tallest peak Jebel Jais, and the UAE adventure capital, this is where to head for scenic drives, mountain hiking and biking, wadi tours, camping and any extreme outdoor activity you can think of!
The perfect mix of outdoor adventures and history, head to the far east coast of the country and explore the emirate of Fujairah. From snorkelling opportunities at Snoopy Beach to dhow cruises at Dibba, this is our favourite day trip from Dubai in winter for a taste of the “other side” of the UAE, away from the modern high rises.
So, just how cold does the seawater get in winter? If you want to dip in the Arabian Gulf waters in winter, it can drop as low as 22°C (73°F) in the middle of winter.
Our super-sensitive desert kids would squeal that this is far too cold, but visitors from the depth of European winter will no doubt find it positively balmy!
Water Parks in Dubai remain open almost throughout the year, but you may find they close for a fortnight at some point in the winter (generally outside of school holiday times). It’s worth checking any possible closure times before you travel if this is an important part of your Dubai travel plans. Aquaventure at Atlantis remains the largest in the Middle East, but also the most crowded and can suffer from long queues. Also consider Wild Wadi Waterpark or with littles, Legoland Waterpark.
Resort swimming pools, on the other hand, are far more likely to be temperature controlled, so you will find them wonderfully heated in the winter (in fact, pools will start being heated to maintain a steady 28°C-30°C water temperature from about October!). Not all hotel pools are created the same in this regard! It pays to check the fine print if you’re booking a Dubai hotel in winter.
If in doubt, why not book a hotel in Dubai with an indoor pool? Plenty of places offer indoor pools, from lap pools to luxury indoor spas, for year-round relaxation at ideal temperatures.
There are many yachts, from Dubai Marina, in particular, where you can privately charter a yacht for your party, be it a daytime sightseeing cruise or a fun evening party out on the water.
Many events and Dubai winter attractions will only open over the cooler months of the year, though these “seasons” are gradually creeping longer each year!

Global Village
The crowds and colours of Dubai’s Global Village need to be seen to be believed. Like a giant world’s fair representing over 70 countries through food, dance, and live performances.

Dubai Garden Glow
A spectacular nighttime light display, this attraction has undergone quite a few changes and a relocation over the summer.
The new format, just in a different location within Zabeel Park (Now found at Gate 3 adjacent to the Dubai Frame) sees a 2-4-1 attraction with the ever-favourite Dinosaur Park being joined by Fantasy Park – which doesn’t look like it glows!
Whether the full glow park is returning later in the season is still yet to be seen!
Dubai Miracle Garden
The largest flower garden in the world by total blooms sits right here in Dubai! Marvel at the floral creations from the iconic A380 permanent feature to the swinging gardens, the floral clock, incredible topiary collections, and an annual changing lineup to impress!

Festive Winter Wonderlands in Dubai
Although Christmas is not a marked religious holiday in the United Arab Emirates, there’s no denying it’s celebrated in a big way! It may still be warm outside, but magical winter wonderlands with snow machines, Christmas trees, and market stalls for Santa himself will appear across the city in December.
Only closing now for the hottest few months of the year, the Ripe Farmers Market has a few roving locations across the city during the summer months. In winter, however, you can find it at Academy Park in the Umm Suqeim area of the city every Saturday and Sunday. The sprawling market is a great place to pick up fresh organic fruits and vegetables and also meet local artisans selling their hand-crafted products.

What if it Rains in Winter? What to do in Dubai When it Rains
On rare days, it does rain in Dubai, but don’t worry about it ruining your travel plans – Dubai is a city also built to be enjoyed indoors! Here are just a few suggestions to fill a rainy day in Dubai (with & without kids):
Dubai Frame – rain or not, you can still enjoy a bird’s eye view beneath the towering Dubai Frame – observe the Dubai Creek and Old Dubai from one side and the modern skyscrapers of Dubai to the west. See our review of the Dubai Frame here.
Dubai Mall – always a fail-safe; whatever the weather, there’s so much to see and do in and around Dubai Mall. Take a trip up the tallest building in the world, theBurj Khalifa, or take a tour of the incredible Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. (Just be warned, peak times/dates for Burj Khalifa will book up FAST!)
The Green Planet Dubai – Offers an incredible indoor rainforest experience in the heart of the city. Snake your way around the giant artificial tree inside a giant biodome adjacent to the City Walk entertainment precinct. There’s now the added feature of an outdoor Nature Park – a large edutainment area featuring a treehouse with viewing platforms, adventure trails and slides, plus realistic animatronics of all manner of creepy crawlies (the outdoor exhibit is best for dry weather!)!
The Museum of the Future is a fascinating journey to the future of space, health and innovation (though do note that tickets need to be booked many weeks in advance; you can’t pop in here as a last-minute plan!) History buffs, though, will find Etihad Museum an excellent Dubai rainy-day choice without the queues and crowds.
Ski Dubai – this huge indoor ski centre in the Mall of the Emirates never fails to impress visitors; its the perfect spot to practice your ski skills in Dubai before experiencing the “real thing.”. Their festival experience in December is also one of the best in the city -though does book out early.
Now, it’s undoubtedly true the best time to visit Dubai is in the winter, but are there any drawbacks to a winter trip to Dubai? No deal breakers, but it’s worth considering:
It gets really busy. Crowds have unfortunately become a huge problem when visiting Dubai in the winter and during peak season. We’d highly suggest that if you are planning a visit to Dubai in the winter, be aware of the busiest periods over school holidays (generally the last three weeks of December). If you have flexibility, come on a weekday and outside the major school breaks to avoid lines at popular attractions.
It’ll cost you more: Being high season (particularly December through early January), you’ll find hotels are charging premium prices, and the best places will book up fast; there’s very little chance of finding a great deal over the cooler winter season in Dubai.
It could rain: Could is the key here – we’ve had winters without a drop of rain, then other years several days of deluge and localised flooding – its absolutely not a deal breaker; you are more likely to get a string of days with blue clear skies, but do have a contingency plan in mind, rain is usually forecast at least a week out.

Throw in an extra pair of jeans/long trousers for the evenings
A pullover/sweater or light jacket may be needed in the evenings to deal with any cool breeze (or fierce indoor air conditioning!)
Unless rainy days are forecast for certain, we wouldn’t bother packing the umbrella for ‘just in case’. But DO still pack your sun hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses no matter what time of year you visit Dubai.
So, is it Worth Visiting Dubai in the Winter?
Absolutely! We can’t promise clear blue skies in Dubai every single day, but it’s pretty darn close to perfection for your mid-winter vacation!

Dubai has a distinctly cooler winter season, although the city does not experience a traditional 4-seasons. The year is better divided into summer and winter, with the cooler winter weather starting in November and lasting through until April. Daytime highs rarely drop below 20°C in this winter season, but nights can be cool, particularly in the desert and mountain areas of the Emirate, and it can sporadically rain.
Can you swim in Dubai in winter?
Locals will say it’s too cold for swimming in winter in Dubai, but coming from Europe or any colder climate in the winter months, December to February, you’ll likely think it’s still delightful! Expect the lowest water temperatures mid-winter in Dubai of around 23.9°C (75°F). Many resorts will keep their pools heated in winter to a pleasant 28°C-30°C for guests’ ongoing pleasure during the coldest months.
What are winter temperatures in Dubai?
The coolest days of winter will still top 20°C/68°F, even in January. You can expect daytime high temperatures in December of 26°C/78.8°F, January 24.2°C/76°F and February 25.6°C/78°F. It’s certainly not unheard of for the temperature to still go over 30°C/86°F in winter in Dubai.

If you’re seeking a northern hemisphere winter holiday in the sun but don’t want to miss out on the fun and festivities of Christmas, Dubai could be the destination for you!
Christmas in Dubai is not a public holiday but is widely celebrated by the large expat community and tourists.
So other than the reassurance that the shops will still be open on Christmas Eve (and Christmas Day!!), what should you expect in Dubai at Christmas? We’ll take you through everything you need to know to plan your trip at this special time of year to get you in the Christmas spirit:
In late December, you should expect wonderful mild weather – average daytime highs of 26°C/78.8°F and seawater temperature of 25.6°C/78°F.
Rain is not unheard of in December, but certainly don’t expect a long string of dreary grey days. Fog can be an issue in December, particularly in the early mornings.
Fog is a common occurrence in winter; it usually burns off by mid-morning.
The wonderful weather in December, combined with the fact it is also school holiday time in Dubai (along with most of the world), means that the week from Christmas to New Year in Dubai is one of the busiest of the year.
You can expect hotel and AirBnB prices to skyrocket, and in some cases, your first choice of accommodation may not be available – so book early if you have December in Dubai on your agenda.
Celebrating Christmas in Dubai 2025
Christmas festivities in Dubai, generally speaking, start as soon as National Day (Eid Al Etihad) events have concluded (the weekend around 2-3 December and run throughout the month of December).
From your classic shopping mall Santas to Christmas tree lightings at most of the city’s top hotels, you will not escape the jubilant atmosphere of Christmas celebrations in Dubai.
Please note that this guide still needs several updates for 2025, information tends to be released quite late into the season, so please use the 2024 information here as a guide only to the events that will be on this Christmas
Winter City
Expo City will again be transformed into Winter City for Christmas from 6 to 31 December 2025, starting at 4:00 pm daily until 10:00 pm.
Al Wasl Plaza takes centre stage, with a 52-foot Christmas Tree and a festive village, including Santa’s uniquely recycled house, Frosty’s Farmhouse, Santa’s Toy Factory, Mrs Claus’ Bakery, and Letters to Santa, among the popular activities on offer.
To truly experience the spirit of Christmas in Dubai, join a nightly Carols by Candlelight performance. This simply magical performance with a light show occurs under the Al Wasl dome. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also make a special appearance at this event.
What does it cost?
This event remains free for those under six and People of Determination, but note the following pricing policy is now in place for kids 6+ and adults:
General Admission AED 50
Carols by Candlelight is separately ticketed, AED 150 per person
A Dubai classic winter experience that never disappoints can be found at Ski Dubai. Home to one of the city’s most popular Santa Grotto at Mall of the Emirates, not just Santa Meet and Greet’s with a Christmas goodie bag and a hot chocolate included.
You can also enjoy fun adventures in the Snow Park, including Snow Movies, snowman building, and breakfast with Santa. Packages start from 160 AED pp for a standard Santa meet-and-greet, AED 325 for added Snow Park access, or AED 600 for a Family Pass to Santa (family of 4).
(NB Due to the cold conditions, entry to Santa’s Grotto starts from 2 years of age)
Another option where the littles don’t need to enter sub-zero temperatures isBreakfast With Santa. Held at 8:00 am daily from 10 to 25 December this costs AED 160 per person/AED 80 for infants.
Timing
Tickets go on sale mid-November for dates 1-25 December (popular weekend time slots and those closest to Christmas get snapped up FAST!)
Want to make it extra special? Add on a stay at the Aspen Ski Chalets at Kempinski Mall of the Emirates. Ranging in size from a one-bedroom chalet up to the three-floor, three-bedroom ski chalets, each sleeps between two to six guests, overlooking the slopes of Ski Dubai.
The Grotto at Dubai Mall
A new edition within the region’s largest Mall, a paid visit to Santa can be booked at The Grotto, Dubai Ice Rink, Dubai Mall. You can book family sessions here and special Whispering Winter sessions for children with special needs.
So far, they’ve only opened for early registration in 2025, we don’t know booking times/slots yet of final cost for 2025, though it was one of the more comprehensive but expensive options in 2025 with a group limit of 5.
Winter Fest at Al Barari Playground
Already one of the city’s most magical playgrounds, it will be extra special in December as the park is transformed for Winter Fest (TBC 2025 14/15 December and 21/22 December 2024, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM).
Entry tickets (Kids AED 89, Adults AED 49) will get you access to the main Al Barari Playground, the ice rink, and a train ride. Other activities must be paid for at the venue, including gingerbread house making, the snow maze, messy play, a snow fight zone, and a tuning slide.
Festive celebrations at popular beachfront venue The Beach in JBRhave been rolled into a wider Winter Nights festival that runs from mid-October (when the daily highs start to dip below 40C!) through December.
This includes free movies every Friday and Saturday night, 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, these all have a festive theme throughout December.
Other festive events within the Winter Night’s Schedule 2024 include Holiday Melody Marchers (6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM on 7 and 28 December), and Holiday Cheers with Santa and Elves (14-15 & 21-22 December at 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM)
Guests over winter can also enjoy the nightly DSF drone show, which will take place at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM from 5 December through to 11 January 2026.

Festive Garden at Madinat Jumeirah
Madinat Jumeirah’s Festive Market returns from 13 December 2024 to 5 January 2025. With festive food and drinks, fun activities for the kids, and seasonal live music, this is always one of the best places to enjoy the holiday season in Dubai, at one of the city’s most iconic locations.
Held at Madinat Jumeirah Fort Island, the event highlights include a 36-foot-tall Christmas tree, a live band playing festive music and Christmas carols, a North Pole train ride, and a classic Venetian Carousel among the German-style Christmas market huts.
Don’t miss gingerbread house making, live entertainment and decorated abra rides. It’s the perfect place to pick up a special gift with a local touch and seasonal treats you might be craving from home!
Free to attend; activities cost extra
Weekdays are 3:00 PM to late, and weekends are midday to late.
Winter Garden at Habtoor Palace (TBC 2025)
This long-running Dubai Christmas event takes place on the Al Habtoor City rooftop. The venue is transformed for the winter season into an enchanting winter garden. Expect dazzling decorations, carols, street artists, acrobats, mulled wine, gingerbread, and even Santa Claus will make an appearance.
(TBC 2025) Weekdays from 4:00 PM until 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM on weekends from 22 November to 8 January 2025. Entry AED 25. TBC.
This festive season event will return in 2025, returning to Jumeirah Emirates Towers from December 13 to 28, 2025, from Midday to Midnight.
Expect market stalls, kids activities, food trucks, and a Santa’s Grotto. Live entertainment will include a daily performance of Battle of the Bands, open mike nights, choir groups, and roaming entertainers.
Entry is free for under 6’s or AED 25 from 6+ to adults -TBC
Home to one of the city’s best Santa Grottos, this Deira mall offers a lot to enjoy in December. In addition to Santa, guests can hunt for treasure in Khan Murjan Souk, discover treats in their outdoor market, and participate in festive crafts and entertainment.
Events will take place from 6 to 24 December 2024.
Timings for Santa are 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM on opening night, then daily 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM (Breaks from 1:00 to 1:30 PM and 7:00 to 7:30 PM)
The outdoor winter market run daily from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Dubai Garden Glow – all winter
Although not entirely a Christmas event, Dubai Garden Glow‘s wonderfully enchanted setting makes it the perfect attraction to visit around Christmas for a magical evening in their utterly instagrammable gardens.
The gardens are moving this winter! Normally open by October, we are waiting for the grand reveal on their new location and timing for the 2025-26 season.
Candy Town at Jewel on the Creek
A newcomer for Christmas 2025, this community event will run from Thursdays to Sundays from 5 to 28 December 2025. Expect craft stalls through to street entertainers, and Santa himself will be making daily appearnaces with his elves.
Stay tuned for more information! We know entry will be free, but we are waiting to hear how Santa’s Grotto will operate.
Global Village – all winter
Festivities will commence this year on 13 December and run through until 5 January. They will be celebrating with a multi-cultural snowy theme, with Santa and his elves spreading cheer across the park. Head to the Restaurant Plaza for snow activities and enjoy the spectacular 21-metre-high Christmas Tee at Celebration Walk.
Global Village is a spectacular place to visit over the cooler winter break (though do be warned, it can be extremely busy at weekends). There are ample shopping opportunities, as well as the chance to enjoy seasonal flavors and treats with a truly international twist.
Entry on weekdays in AEAD 27, Weekends AED 30 (Under 3s and over 65s, free)
One of the best Christmas events in Dubai to get you in the spirit, this family-friendly event will return on Saturday, 7 December 2024, to West Beach, Palm Jumeirah.
All participants must register in advance, with kids registered for AED 49 (or free with an adult). Adults are AED 125 to participate, or book the whole family and get free hotel parking at the Hilton.
There are 1km, 2.5km, and 5km events, the chance to meet Santa himself, and prizes for best dressed.
This family cycling event, new in 2024 and also brought to you by Race.ME, will take place on Sunday, 22 December 2024.
It looks like online registrations closed early of the overall events has been cancelled.
Dubai’s Biggest Festive Nights
Taking place outside Dubai’s Festival City Mall (along Dubai Creek, near the airport), enjoy nightly fireworks from 5 December 2025 to 11 January 2026, at 8:30 pm. Entry is free.
Dubai Feastival (TBC 2025)
This is another new experience in Dubai this festive season, especially for your 4-legged friends. A dog-friendly family festival will be held at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club on 14 December from 12:00 PM.
Free for under-12s, and then just AED 20 a ticket (advance purchase here on Platinumlist), you can enjoy a Christmas market tailored especially for pet owners and let your furry little one loose in a leash-free area (and there will be a human little play area too!). Christmas Activities at Aquaventure (TBC 2025)
If you’re planning a theme park trip over the festive break, Aquaventure also has plenty of fun events to keep the family entertained. From 24 to 26 December, enjoy daily activities, including Feed the Snowman, Christmas Present Hunt, and Build a Sand Snowman—catch the complete daily schedule here.

Away from the glitz and glamour of Dubai’s razzmatazz, the other emirates of the UAE have so much to offer visitors to this profoundly diverse country. From natural wonders to a unique cultural heritage, keep reading to find out what you shouldn’t miss in your Dubai itinerary.
Understanding the 7 Emirates of the UAE
Although Dubai might be the most internationally well-known city in the UAE and indeed the largest, the capital city of Abu Dhabi should not be left off your agenda.
Abu Dhabi is both a city and an emirate. It is by far the largest and most wealthy of all the Emirates, as this is where the majority of the country’s oil reserves lie. Home to the Grand Mosque, the country’s Presidential Palace, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and now a string of internationally acclaimed theme parks and tourist attractions, it really is an unmissable stop on your Dubai itinerary.
Many will factor in a day trip to Abu Dhabi, but we really think your itinerary should be split between the two emirates, especially if you want to get deeper beneath the skin of the country and include a visit to the regional city of Al Ain, in Abu Dhabi Emirate, bordering Oman.
Getting around the Emirates is primarily best done by road. Although rail infrastructure is currently being built, there are presently no passenger rail services, so you will find you need to hire a car, take a tour/private transfer, or take public transportation.
The country has several international airports, though by far the largest is DXB (Dubai International Airport), home to Emirates and many international airlines. AUH in Abu Dhabi (Zayed International Airport) is the second largest by passenger numbers, home to Etihad, the country’s national carrier, many international airlines and budget airlines such as WizzAir and AirArabia.
Whichever city you start in, you can rearrange our suggested itinerary to fit the days you have. We assume you are flying in and out of Dubai with a side trip to Abu Dhabi.
Hiring a Car and Driving From Dubai
If you want to explore the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, we recommend hiring a car for only the days you need it. When you are in Dubai, you can get around largely without a car and rely on Dubai’s extensive public transport network.
Be aware that when hiring a rental car, there are both Salik toll charges in Dubai and DARB road tolls in Abu Dhabi (peak hours only). Your rental car company will take care of your tolls, but they will charge these onto you with an additional administrative fee.
UAE roads, for the most part, are good, multi-lane freeways, but traffic moves FAST. And other drivers may not display the manners and skills you expect. You need to be a confident driver to take to the roads in the UAE. Fuel is relatively cheap compared to elsewhere in the world, making it an economical way to get around.
The intercity bus is the main form of transport from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. It leaves from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station in Dubai and Ibn Battuta (both interchange with the Metro) and terminates at Al Wadha Station in central Abu Dhabi. Once in Abu Dhabi, there are quite a few choices, from local bus services to taxis and Careem – learn more about these Intercity services here.
It still doesn’t appear well-advertised that Abu Dhabi has quite a comprehensive network of FREE shuttle buses run by Visit Abu Dhabi. Unlike local buses, they specifically cater to tourists and take guests from many major hotels in the city to popular attractions. If you are only day tripping to Abu Dhabi from Dubai, then there are a couple of shuttles to be aware of, too. Namely, the Yas Express for the theme parks and the Cultural Express for visitors to the Louvre and Qasr Al Watan.
A 10 Day UAE Itinerary (Dubai & Abu Dhabi)
It would be best to look at this itinerary alongside our Dubai 7-Day itinerary. Not every day plan we have set out may appeal, so pick and choose which days you’d like to spend in Dubai before starting your road trip into the Abu Dhabi Emirate. We suggest you add 3-4 days in Abu Dhabi and the remainder of your time in Dubai.

A Complete UAE Itinerary
With two weeks available, you could include a visit to all seven Emirates of the UAE. Abu Dhabi is by far the largest Emirate, and Dubai is the most populous, but don’t forget there are another five Emirates, often collectively referred to as the ‘Northern Emirates’, sitting northeast of Dubai.
There’s lots of information about the UAE’s other emirates on our affiliate website, Family Travel in the Middle East, which we’ve linked in below. So here’s how we’d split up our time for a two-week sightseeing tour of the UAE:
Day 1 – 7: as above
Day 8: Drive to Fujairah – If you drive via the mountain village of Masafi, don’t forget to check out the local market. Once in Fujairah, visit the Fujairah Fort and Heritage Village before checking in at your hotel (we recommend a stay on Al Aqah Beach for anyone looking for a seaside stay). Hit the beach or organise a snorkelling tour for the afternoon and then head for sundowners back at the beach.
Day 9: Fujairah – After breakfast visit the Bidyah Mosque, the oldest mosque in the UAE, or if the weather allows, organise a hike in the craggy Hajar mountains, or visit the coastal town of Dibba. For more information about what to do in Fujairah click here.
Day 10: Ras al Khaimah – Visit the Al Suwaidi Pearl Farm, old souk, and the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum.
Day 11: Ras Al Khaimah – Explore the wadis of Ras Al Khaimah, or climb the UAE’s highest mountain Jebel Jais where you will also find the longest zip-wire in the world. To find out more click here.You could also take the afternoon to visit Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, the smallest emirates in the UAE
Day 12: Sharjah- Visit the Museum of Islamic Civilisation, the Sharjah Art Museum and the Al Hosn Fort Museum, take a tour of the beautiful Al-Noor Mosque, or the grand Sharjah Mosque. Day 13: Dubai – Return to Dubai for some last minute shopping and R&R.

Feel free to play around with these ideas as much as you like, fitting them to your time and interests. We think the above itineraries will give you a broad spectrum of what the UAE is all about.
With kids, consider adding an extra day or two to visit water parks or theme parks.
If you have a stronger cultural interest, you might want to include a few more museums.
If it all feels too fast-paced, add an extra beach day!

Places to Visit in Dubai
We have Dubai’s top attractions pretty well covered elsewhere on our website, so to summarise (with links to each of these if you need more detail), we’d include the following day plans
Old Dubai: Take a ride on an abra across Dubai Creek, visit the old souk and delve into the Al Fahidi neighbourhood, where you’ll find traditional houses, art galleries, muesums and quaint cafes. Spend the evening, strolling around the alleyways, or if you’d like to end the day with a sharp contrast, head to the Museum of the Future.
Modern Dubai and Downtown: A day is easily passed at the enormous Dubai Mall. Known as the world’s largest shopping centre, Dubai Mall is home to a a range of high street and designer brands. It’s also where you’ll find access to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and the mesmerising Dubai Fountains. We recommend booking a table at one of the fountain-side restaurants to really make the most of the show.
Flights of Fancy: Explore some of Dubai’s more unique landmarks like the inventive Miracle Gardenand the adjacent Butterly Garden. Spend time visiting one of Dubai’s many theme parks, such as Legoland or the IMG World of adventure, and as the light dims, head to Dubai’s famous Glow Garden.
R&R Dubai Style: Head to the JBR, or one of Dubai’s exclusive beach clubs, for a full on day of R&R. Take lunch al fresco as you soak up the chilled out atmosphere. Finish the day with drinks at the Aura Skypool, or another rooftop bar.
Splash and Relax: Head to one of Dubai’s world class water parks for a day of fun. If you choose to visit Atlantis, don’t forget to check out The Lost Chambers Aquarium. You can find out more about Dubai’s water parks here.

Nature & Culture: Begin the day by exploring the Jubail Mangroves in the morning, then head to the Saadiyat Cultural District. Here you can visit the Abu Dhabi branch with its impressive collection of international art and historical artifacts, or discover the Abrahamic Family House, a unique multi-faith development which aims to foster interfaith understanding a co-operation.
After a busy afternoon of culture, take a stroll through the beachside Mamsha District, where you’ll find lots of nice cafes and restaurants, or take a dip in the sea at the adjacent Soul Beach.
Fun & Frolics: Dedicate Day 3 to Yas Island and visit the theme parks; you’ve no chance of doing them all in one day, but two in a day is perfectly possible. WB World generally opens at 11.00 am, so start your day with one of the parks that open at 10.00 am.
If you’d like to visit Yas Waterworld, we recommend that you do this towards the end of the day when it’s a bit cooler. Finish your day by exploring the Yas Bay Waterfrontand nearby Yas Marina (note some venues have a dress code, so make sure that you’re prepared). If theme parks aren’t your thing, consider replacing day 3 with a visit to the Falcon Hospital in Al Shewian in the morning, followed by lunch at Yas Bay and some shopping at Yas Mall. Or, if you’re a keen golfer, you’ll find some of the most amazing golf courses here.
This is again going to be highly variable depending on interest. If you are focused on the theme parks and Yas Island, it’s best to stay on one of the Yas hotels, where you can also pick up deals inclusive of theme park tickets.
Beach lovers, we recommend you head to Saadiyay. It’s the perfect place if you’re seeking a little downtime and want to be close to the up-and-coming Cultural District.
Looking for somewhere central to make everything easy to reach? Then staying in the Grand Canal/ Bab Al Bahr area near the mosque might fit the bill.
Often missed out of UAE itineraries, not enough is written in tourist guides about the wonders of Al Ain, also referred to as the Garden or Oasis City. Sitting fairly equidistant between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, on the border with Oman, Al Ain has a remarkably diverse geography and a special place in the history of the UAE.
Al Ain is dominated by the 1,249 metre tall Jebel Hafeet, below which you’ll find lush springs and the city’s famous oases. The Al Ain oasis is known for its intricate falaj irrigation system and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The palm plantation is punctuated by palaces, forts, and small mosques and is a highlight of many people’s visit to the UAE.
The city is also the birthplace of the founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and many of the city’s grander buildings have close links with the royal family.
The top attractions in Al Ain include:
The Al Ain Oasis (and several other smaller oases – all part of the UNESCO sites of Al Ain). Hire a bike or quadracycle to explore the oasis’s twisting pathways and the impressive falaj irrigation system.
Jebel Hafeet Desert Park – to see the Bronze Age Beehive tombs and drive to the mountain summit for amazing views of Al Ain and the local topography.
Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum – the Al Ain home of the UAE’s first president, Sheikh Zayed (Closed from 1 July 2024 for renovations)
Qasr Al Muwaiji – Birthplace of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, the country’s second President
Al Jahili Fort – Featuring an exhibition detailing the travels of Wilfred Thesiger
Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Mosque – Open to non-Muslims for guided tours
Al Ain Zoo & Safari Park – we’d argue the best in the country, very spread out, so you’d need to dedicate the best part of a day to exploring.
To do the city justice, you need at least 2 full days, but we’d suggest, with time available in a 10-day itinerary, you give it an overnight stop.
Getting to Al Ain is honestly easiest to self-drive; you can get day tours from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which we’ll mention here, but the ability to travel at your own pace is exacerbated here as everything is so spread out.
Covering both of the Emirates, you’ll find the best value attraction pass is Go City.
There is the Dubai Pass as well; their system is a little more convoluted with pools and is pretty concentrated on just Dubai.

November brings some of the most pleasant weather of the year, perfect for exploring Dubai’s great outdoors again and seeing many seasonal events return for the winter season.

Temperatures drop significantly over November from highs of 38°C/100°F at the start of the month down to the high 20s/low 80s by month-end. Overnight lows are around 20°C/68°F, and morning fog can be a common occurrence as the humidity starts to fall, leading to some spectacular cityscape views.
The sea temperature averages 28.4°C/83°F, so it is still pleasant to take a refreshing dip in the water. It is also perfect for sun worshippers without getting too hot and sweaty.

Dubai Special Events November 2026
Flag Day – Held every year on the 3rd of November, Emiratis take great pride and honour in displaying their National Flag. Signalling the unification of the 7 Emirates, the flag represents justice, peace, tolerance, power, and moderation. Homes and businesses will unfurl their flags on this day, and all the way through to Eid al Etihad (National Day) on 2-3 December, you will see the city blanketed in red, green, white & black.
Throughout November, tourists should head to Kite Beach for the largets ‘Flag Garden‘ experience.
Dubai Design Week – The region’s largest creative festival, held in Dubai Design District between 4 and 9 November 2025 covers architecture through to interior design and graphic design.

Take on the UAE’s tallest peak Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah and enjoy a huge variety of outdoor adrenaline activities from the world’s longest zipline to the Jais Sky Maze perched atop the mountain.
Your younger tots will absolutely adore the outdoor playground set up at Al Barari, a pirate ship, and waterplay is the centrepiece of this hidden urban oasis, perfect for the cooler months in Dubai.
The nighttime extravaganza Dubai Garden Glow is back for its 11th season. A beautiful evening light display; get there early to also experience the Dinosaur park as day turns to night, then watch the light show come alive.
Get kids active outside at Aventura Parks. A ropes and zipline course will see them confidently flying through the treetops of the Ghaf forest in Mushrif Park.
Dubai Safari Park – A nature experience not far from the city, the new and improved safari park promises families the opportunity to see over 3000 animals through interactive experiences and large enclosures.

It is hard not to put this brilliant concept from the team at Family Brunch Dubai at number 1. This fantastic Aladdin-themed family brunch at Hanaaya restaurant opens up a new world of wonders. Featuring carefully curated cuisine from around the world, including an extensive array of seafood, it’s sure to delight your taste buds.
Expect visits from Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, as well as a mesmerising snake charmer, a magic genie show, arts and crafts, face painting, sand art, and so much more! This brunch is sure to keep you and your little ones happy with a truly magical Middle Eastern vibe.
With views over to the Burj Al Arab, what more could you ask from a family brunch in Dubai? This is a fabulous one to take your visitors to Dubai for a genuinely memorable Arabian Nights-style experience!
Where to find Hanaaya: Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam hotel, Madinat Jumeirah
Yalumba is a great place to start in your search for a family-friendly brunch in Dubai. It is located in the same area as Dubai International Airport and offers the perfect Sunday family event for parents with young children.
While parents find a spot to relax, the little people are offered their own section, which includes a fun-themed buffet and a little play area where they can run, climb, and jump till their hearts are content.
Of course, the grownups are also taken care of at brunch. The adult menu is internationally themed, and the bar is well-stocked with the finest drinks. We’ve always found a high standard of service and good value.
Where to find Yalumba: Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, Garhoud
Mina’s Kitchen is located in the beautiful Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina. A slightly pared-back and less raucous version of their Saturday ‘Bubbalicious Brunch’, The Roast puts family dining more at its heart than partying, and at a more reasonable price tag than the Saturday event.
The spread is still expansive enough to offer cuisines from all over the world, and the drink selection often matches the variety of food. As one of the top spots for brunches in Dubai, The new Sunday Roast concept has plenty to keep the kids entertained, with arts and crafts tables and roving entertainers, as well as a separate buffet for the little ones.
Arguably, the family brunch that all kids (both big and small) have been waiting for, the ‘Bricks Brunch’ takes place at the Bricks restaurant at the Legoland Resort Hotel every Saturday. Enter a Lego-themed world full of non-stop fun and Lego-themed activities, as well as lots of tasty food!
Enjoy an incredible international buffet, live cooking stations, and a bottomless drinks package.
Entertainment includes a Lego building bonanza, a kids’ kitchen where children can craft their own pizzas and ice cream, a craft corner, a dance party, and, after brunch, a screening of Lego movies. There’s also complimentary access to the pool after brunch, making this the perfect Lego-themed day!

An oldie but a goldie on the Dubai brunching scene, The Art of Brunch has long held the crown as one of the most reliable brunches to please all ages.
The Fountain restaurant offers an elegant dining experience that can best be described as “substance over style”. Their menu is predominantly Asian-inspired, although it features several dishes from International cuisine.
The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant, with clean and simple decor and live piano music that everyone will enjoy. Children are given their own separate area, “Little Birds Kids Club,” complete with a bouncy castle and entertainers, so that parents can sit with their friends and catch up without worrying over childcare.
Children below 5 dine complimentary, while those under 12 are 50% off (and they often run some brilliant 2-4-1 specials, especially over the summer; follow their socials to see deals!)
Where to find the Fountain: Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments, Bur Dubai
A newer brunch on the Saturday scene, Toad Brunch is all about family fun at Top Golf, Emirates Hills 2. Kick your afternoon off with a quick round of Top Golf, enjoy British-style dining, then see the kids off to the fully supervised Tadpole Brunch Club!
While kids are enjoying face painting, mocktail making, and arcade games, the grown-ups will be entertained with activities and live entertainment.
7. Into The Jungle Brunch at Palazzo Versace ($$$)
Offering a unique experience for the whole family, the ‘Into the Jungle Brunch’ at Giardino, Palazzo Versace is sure to wow.
You’ll enjoy a wide selection of gourmet delicacies, from British Roasts to sushi, as well as Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine, all set in the beautiful green surroundings of the Giardino restaurant and its expansive outdoor terrace.
There’s also a kids’ buffet with lots of kid-friendly treats to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters. A singer and a live DJ are mixing the tunes for the grown-ups, whilst the kids are entertained by Magic Phil (a very popular Dubai-based entertainer). There are also appearances from everyone’s favourite Disney Wayfinder, Moana, as well as jungle crafts and the opportunity to learn more about plants and the jungle environment.
Definitely in the running for best family brunch in Dubai, Once Upon a Brunch is the fairytale of all brunch experiences that will leave the little ones mesmerised. At the scale and grandeur you’d expect from the venue at Waldorf Astoria The Palm, kids have their own dedicated play area with strolling princes and princesses, as well as a magician entertaining both adults and kids.
The food is, of course, nothing short of a royal feast with five different international cuisines to appeal to all taste buds, and a DJ and live singer will be keeping the crowd entertained all afternoon.
Seeking something fancy where the kids are still welcome? Zuma is an upscale Japanese restaurant located in the DIFC district. A Japanese Brunch in Dubai is quite a rare find, and the fact that they also serve a family brunch makes them even more remarkable.
The stunning, Japanese-style interior will enchant parents and children alike. Meals are offered in small quantities, with the option to refill, which is great if you don’t want to feel you’re overindulging on the weekend.
This makes an ideal choice for parents who still want to enjoy a fine dining brunch while ensuring the kids are entertained; children are given their own buffet section and are well taken care of by staff. Zuma’s fantastic service definitely puts it in contention for the best brunch in Dubai.
A brilliant laid-back Brunch with a distinctly British theme, enjoy a spread including roast, scallops, and free-flowing beverages, not to mention a super catchy soundtrack that will have the kids and adults alike bopping along!
Any family brunch that also includes pool access is a winner in our book, and Dukes the Palm is one of those surprise hotels that really delivers with its own lazy river and incredible views back to Dubai Marina and JBR.
Okay, this one isn’t exactly whole-family-friendly. In fact, parents are banned from this t(w)een only brunch! This brunch is located at UBK Fun Zone in JLT and caters exclusively to children aged 9 to 14.
There’s unlimited food and soft drinks on offer, an interactive DJ, a photo booth, pool and foosball tables, mocktail-making classes, party games, and so much more!
Available on Sundays, the Gen X Brunch bills itself as a safe space where kids can have fun without the prying eyes of mum and dad… (and if you’re looking for a party venue for your tweens and teens in Dubai, this is another excellent option for families to consider!)

Every Sunday, Brunch at Sofitel Dubai The Palm is dedicated to families, offering an international brunch that features flavours from Latin America, Europe, and Asia, along with kid-friendly dishes, at the World Eatery Restaurant.
We love that this brunch has true variety, with plenty of mocktail options, as well as vegan and vegetarian guests being well catered to.
Kids have their own dedicated play area, featuring magic shows, arts and crafts, and balloon bending, while adults can enjoy complimentary house beverages or soft drinks.

Where to find Family Fiesta: The World Eatery Restaurant, Soitel Dubai The Palm, Palm Jumeirah
Another Dubai brunch that families should keep firmly on their radar this winter is Imagination Brunch at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah.
Only running once a month on the first Sunday of the month, this enchanted brunch will transport your little ones to a land of mystical creatures and fairy castles; ok, not quite, but the line-up of entertainment here is truly out of this world and worth the monthly wait, from unicorn singing princesses to spell-binding magicians.
The brunch is packed with not just live cooking stations but also exciting entertainment stations for kids to explore, featuring everything from glitter face painting to magic potions.
They offer differential pricing for the little ones, with children under 3 years old free, 3- to 5-year-olds charged AED 50, and older kids AED 100. The standard brunch pricing for adults is still reasonable by Dubai standards, considering what you get.

Despite its desert location in the predominantly Muslim Middle East, Santa spotting is actually a relatively easy activity in Dubai each December(though he may come in many different colours, shapes, and sizes in our amazing multicultural city! Seeing Santa is a popular pastime amongst all faiths).
Santas in Dubai work extremely hard and have a hectic schedule, often operating until midnight in the weeks leading up to Christmas. However, we strongly suggest that if you want to experience this, pre-book your slot to avoid disappointment.
Below, based on over a decade of experience visiting Santa in Dubai, we’re outlining the best ‘real Santa’ experiences for your little ones who can’t wait to share their wishlist, and parents who want the classic Santa photo.
NB, some events run through until early January, covering Orthodox Christmas as well, so if you missed that perfect family photo in the mad end-of-school-year rush pre-Christmas, Dubai can be the ideal location to catch up on things a little later—and if your kids want to return to thank Santa for their gifts!!
Ski Dubai Santa at Winter Wonderland
This is arguably the most magical way to get into the festive spirit in Dubai. The sub-zero temperatures at Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates perfectly set the scene for multiple immersive experiences you can enjoy while dressed in your cold-weather gear.
With a Festive Pass, you can enjoy all Snow Park rides, a photo op at Santa’s Grotto and Village, a fun little chairlift ride, and our famous hot cup of cocoa!
Please bear in mind this is not a suitable experience for under 2’s.
Breakfast with Santa is another popular option here. Rather than a personalised session, Santa will work his way around the room, speaking to all families at this seated event. This can be less intimidating (and much warmer) for your littlest ones.
Early bird tickets are yet to go on sale (last year they were released on 11 November 2024), but get snapped up immediately when they do for the most popular dates immediately before Christmas. Get on their mailing list now to be the first to know when tickets go on sale.
Additionally, Breakfast with Santa will take place at 8:00 am daily (last year from 10 to 25 December and costs AED 160 per person, infants AED 80).
If you miss out on an exclusive Santa spot, you can also watch for the Festive Fun Run, another way to get that snowy festive feel and meet Santa. Dates TBC
The WAFI City Santa is infamous in Dubai! Commencing after National Day, Wafi’s Whimsical Wonderland is excellent for those who’d prefer to gauge their kids’ moods before heading out for the day, as no advance online booking is required (we note that they have brought in online registration, but as we understand it, on-the-day walk-in bookings are still very much accepted)
Often claimed to be the most ‘genuine’ Santa in Dubai without overdoing the gimmicky extras. We recommend you arrive early to secure your spot, then plan a few activities in the mall instead of queuing. With your Santa sign-up, they always give away many promotional discounts in the mall, like kids eat free vouchers, to have you hang around just a little longer.
Wafi Santa will be available from 6 to 24 December 2025.
We await time slots, but in 2024, Santa was available: 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM on opening night, then daily from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM (Santa breaks from 1:00 AM to 1:30 AM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM). It’s a great choice for early risers!
A visit to Santa’s Grotto is expected to cost AED 70 (if you go via the Wafi app; in person, we understand they now charge AED 85), which includes a photo opportunity and a small stuffed toy gift. You can pay the fee only once to share a gift/photo amongst your family, or pay the fee for each child to get their own.
This year, The Grotto is relocating from the Dubai Mall to The Mall of the Emirates for the 2025 season.
Each Grotto booking includes a walk-through Candyland and The Enchanted Forest, before visiting Santa’s Merry Mailroom. Then it’s into the grotto for a full 10 minutes with Santa, so you can expect a fully immersive experience.
Rules are tight, so make sure that you’ve read all of the terms and conditions before you buy your tickets. Whispering Winter Sessions are also on offer for children with Special Educational Needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Children’s tickets are priced at AED 165 each (with a gift), and adults’ tickets are AED 120 (Under 12 months old and carers are free, but no gift). You need at least 1 adult & 1 child, and the maximum group size is 5.
Unfortunately, reviews so far this year have not been fabulous, with the focus very much on the photo, which you are charged extra for, rather than the enitre atmosphere.
Santa times in 2025: 6 December to 25 December 2025, daily 10.00 am to 7.00pm.
This has always been a brilliant ‘Mall Santa’ experience for little ones, as a visit here isn’t overly complicated. They have a wonderful traditional Santa in his Gingerbread house and reasonable opening hours.
Additional activities at ‘Snowbury Square’ typically include cookie-making workshops, ornament-making, and storytelling sessions. This year, the schedule includes Story time with the Elves (7, 14 & 21 December), Story time with the Snow Queen and friends (4.00 pm-4.30 pm on the 7 and 8, and 12 to 24 December), as well as dance performances and a music recital.
The magical Winter City at Expo City has been one of the most popular Christmas destinations in recent years. It celebrates all things winter, from cookie baking and gingerbread houses to Christmas Carol nights under the Al Wasl dome.
While the Carols by Candlelight nights are the absolute highlight here (20 to 24 December,6:20 pm and 7:50 pm), Santa and Mrs. Claus are also the stars most families come to see.

General Admission tickets are now on sale for AED 50 – another significant price increase from last year...
Carols by Candlelight is AED 150 per person, and this includes entry to Winter City.
New in 2025, they are offering ‘Al Wasl season passes‘ for the entire winter 2025/26 season, which include two tickets to the concert and unlimited Winter City visits.
A new addition for 2025, this community event at the sparkling new luxury waterfront venue Jewel of the Creek is shaping up to be a family hit this winter.
There will be carollers, artisan stalls, arts and crafts, stilt walkers and drummers, and most importantly, a Santa’s Grotto.
Santa Dates 2025: Running from 5 to 28 December (Thursdays and Sundays from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 5:00 pm to Midnight; Closed Monday-Wednesday)
A relatively new addition, Winter Wonderland at Al Barari Playground offers kids a magical winter set up outdoors in their famously beautiful adventure park. In addition to the park’s standard features, kids can enjoy an ice rink, train ride, and plan a visit to Santa’s Grotto.
Other paid activities are also available, including snowball fights and gingerbread house making.
Back for a third season, this massive winter event will return to its original home at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, after relocating to Dubai Media City Amphitheatre for 2024.
Not yet fully launched for the season (as of early October, they’re still at the vendor outreach stage), we expect this event to feature a wide range of food and beverage outlets, artisan market stalls, festive activities, carolers, a kids’ corner, and a Santa’s Grotto.
A slightly more unexpected venue, but we’re hearing good things from the organizers that this year’s community event will incorporate a Santa Meet and Greet from 2 to 4 December 2025 – stay tuned, we are seeking out more information if this is included in your cricket entry ticket or separately ticketed at The SIXES Lounge.

Races occur every Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. until late, from 7 November 2025 until the Dubai World Cup on 28 March 2025. There are a few special events during the season, including:
Tickets to the races can be purchased at the track or booked online for a premium package (though note that hospitality packages bought at the gate will cost you more and are subject to availability).
General Public – you’re at ground level here with a selection of picnic tables and an open outdoor food court until the end of the last race. Adults AED 5, grab free kids’ entry tickets at the gate – Gate B.
The Premium By McGettigan’s includes a kids’ playground and acash bar in a dedicated ‘village.’ Kids Village is open from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Music at McGettigans continues until midnight. Adults AED 65, Family packages AED 180. Kids’ tickets are at the gate, entry Gate A.

The Grandstand at Meydan offers commanding views over the track, and the Parade Ring offers many different dining packages to suit different budgets:
Parade Ring Lounge – Centrally located on the ground floor, this is where you want to head for a close-up view of the action with a buffet dinner, al fresco seating, and entertainment. Soft Packages AED 295; House Beverages AED 395
Paddock View – A step up on level 4, this is a good choice for a mixed age group with great views, indoor and outdoor seating, and a bottomless buffet dinner. Soft Packages AED 365; House Beverages AED 495
Invasor Room – An elegant and upscale offering on the 2nd floor with great views of the track and parade ring. This is where you want to head for a classy and exciting evening. Soft packages AED 445; Premium Beverages AED 595
Winners Circle Restaurant – On the 2nd & 3rd floors with excellent views through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Winners Circle. This includes a 3-course sit-down dinner—Soft Packages AED 345 and house AED 445.
Levels 3 and 4 of the Grandstand are dedicated to private suites, which can be booked for corporate events and special occasions throughout the racing season in Dubai.

Dubai World Cup 2026
One of the richest days on the international racing calendar, with $30.5 million in prize money on offer, the Dubai World Cup showcases the finest thoroughbreds of the season. The event brings out Dubai’s social elite and a glamorous international audience.
This year, the Dubai World Cup will take place on Saturday 28 March 2026
The hospitality packages we mentioned above are not available for the Dubai World Cup; an entirely different set of hospitality packages is available, with a broader range of bars and restaurants open specifically for Dubai World Cup night.
Meydan Racecourse consists of both a 1,750-metre dirt track and a 2,400-meter turf track. Most Friday race nights will involve a combination of both tracks being used.
Each evening consists of six or seven races, held 35 minutes apart.
The hospitality services start 30 minutes before the first race, so on most Fridays, this means things start at 5:30 PM with racing commencing at 6:00 PM. To get the most out of your experience, aim to be seated early in the hospitality spaces. This will give you ample time to dive into the race program, complete your Pick 6/7 in plenty of time, and enjoy your first drink before the action begins.
Limited tables are available in the general public space, so you’ll want to be in early to nab one. The gates open at 4:00 PM.
What to Wear to the Races in Dubai
For the regular evening meets, really (almost) anything goes. Those sitting in general public outside will be seen in smart casual, but dressed for the weather (surprisingly, the winter evenings can get quite chilly!), so jeans and t-shirts with overcoats is acceptable in mid-winter. Shorts and trainers are also OK in the general public areas.
In the Grandstand hospitality suites and restaurants, it’s good to class it up a little more (flip-flops or shorts are not allowed); men should wear smart trousers and buttoned shirts or suits.
Ladies can wear equivalent clothing to a nice Dubai brunch or afternoon tea, classy and glamorous but not totally OTT for regular race meets (unless you’re attending a special event like Fashion Friday).
Invitees to the Dubai Lounge and Horse Parade Ring (eg, if you are a Horseman’s guest, sponsor, or authorised media) have a much stricter dress code with strictly no sportswear, trainers, jeans etc.
For big race days, it’s your opportunity to go all out with hats, fascinators, high heels, and men, most definitely suited and booted.
The Meydan Hotel Dubai At Meydan Racecourse
If you want to make a complete night of your horse racing experience in Dubai, then we’d suggest arranging to stay at the attached Meydan Hotel. You are within walking distance here to the Grandstand, though they can assist you with an electric buggy ride door to door.
You can see the racing action from your rooms, too, though you’re a little far from the finish line. To be at the heart of the action, we suggest booking with the hotel and combining your stay with a hospitality package.

The Rooms at The Meydan Hotel
You have the choice of rooms or suites. They are renowned for having some of the most spacious hotel rooms in the city.
Grand Deluxe Balcony Room, Grand Premium Balcony Room (higher floors), and Grand Superior Balcony Room – all 62sqm
Panoramic Suites – 132sqm, Presidential Meydan Suites (4 adults two kids), and Presidential Duplex Suites (split level sleeps up to 6)
Whilst they don’t offer those sought-after Gulf water views, it’s still a pretty spectacular and fascinating view to wake up to, and it’s in an excellent location for visiting other city attractions. Meydan is around 10 minutes by taxi from Downtown Dubai and 15 minutes from DXB Airport (all traffic dependent).
Meydan offers both formal and casual dining options.
Farriers is their international restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner
The Millennium Lounge for track views, al fresco dining, and drinks
Qube Sports Bar, with its screens, is perfect for big event days
Grip n Sip is ideal after a round of golf

NB – The hotel’s ‘in-house’ dining package includes dinner at Farriers on race nights. Yes, Farriers overlooks the course, but it is NOT the same as the hospitality packages and restaurants we mention above which sit immediately above the racing action and Parade Ring; your views from Farriers are quite distant.
If not included with your stay, the race night packages at Farriers, including buffet and bottomless drinks, start from AED 249 Soft to AED 599 Sparkling.
Alternatively, the Millennium Lounge is a little closer to the action with an open terrace, shisha, an à la carte menu, and a minimum spend of AED 150.
Other Leisure facilities at Meydan
Aside from attending the horse racing, there’s a great range of other options. You are attached to a Golf Course, set around 6 lakes and the Meydan Tennis Academy, as well as the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views from the rooftop pool 9.
If you’re coming with the kids, there’s a separate kiddy pool on the rooftop with a few pieces of playground equipment (why not ask the hotel to organise a nanny, though, so you can pop out and enjoy the races?!).
Even if you’re not there for the racing, guests can arrange stable tours during their visit to the Meydan Hotel for a unique Dubai experience.
Gambling on Horse Racing in Dubai
In case you are not aware, gambling is still illegal in Dubai. That, as you can imagine, does not stop people from doing so, but you’d need a VPN to access any gambling sites from the URL.
You won’t see trackside, however, any bookies or TAB huts, etc, that you may be familiar with at horse racing events in other countries.
To keep the evening entertaining for punters, every guest is given a Pick 7 prediction game as an alternative to gambling. These cards are distributed at the gate and must be submitted 15 minutes before racing starts.
Lucky Draw prizes are also up for grabs, with car prizes and giveaways happening throughout the season.
