Open once again from 28 September 2024 for the winter season – here’s what you can expect at “the world’s largest flower garden”

Once one of Dubai’s best-kept secrets, Dubai Miracle Garden is now creeping its way onto the city’s “must-see” list of attractions – albeit with a price tag to match.

It is incredible to believe that such a place can exist in the desert, but this is Dubai; anything is possible, right? Dubai is the current Guinness World Record holder for the largest flower garden in the world by total blooms.

Dubai Miracle Garden is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the winter months and later on weekends.

What is there to see and do at Dubai Miracle Garden

The gardens are designed to let your imagination run wild. There are Instagram moments and points to relax and enjoy the floral displays simply.

It is one of the best places in Dubai to take your kids, but it has charm and appeal for all ages. Romantics especially will enjoy the Miracle Garden experience.

While some exhibits are seasonal, some have remained permanent fixtures. Most prominently, the floral A380 Emirates airplane is now a permanent exhibit within Dubai Miracle Garden.

Some other favourites that have returned for many seasons include:

The giant 18m tall topiary teddy bear
The 15m wide floral birthday clock
Hearts passageway – utterly instagrammable floral archway
Floral Castle – every little prince and princess dream
Disney Avenue – your favourite characters in giant floral arrangements – including an 18m tall Mickey made with 100,000 flowers and weighing an incredible 35 tonnes!

Of course, the garden is constantly being added to and changed each season, so even if you’ve visited before, it’s well worth coming back to see the latest breathtaking display.

Where is Dubai Miracle Garden & how to get there

This 19-hectare plot of land was created and first opened in 2013 in an area previously known as Dubailand, south of Al Barsha. It has since been expanded to its current size (and we suspect, from construction work in the area, there’s more to come!).

Coming by car to Dubai Miracle Garden

You can find Miracle Garden at the junction of the E311 and E63 freeways. There is a large adjacent car park. Like anything in Dubai, the earlier in the day you come, the better parking spot you’ll get! There’s space for 2000 cars to park, which is normally easy on all but the busiest days in winter.

Bus to Dubai Miracle Garden

The Gardens are also serviced by bus route 105 from Mall of the Emirates.

The journey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes and costs 5 AED per person. It runs in the afternoons; times vary by day of the week. See the RTA timetable here.

Metro to Dubai Miracle Garden

There is no direct Metro route to Dubai Miracle Garden; you best catch the Red Line Metro to Mall of the Emirates and then transfer to Bus 105.

Taxi to Dubai Miracle Garden

If these public transport options don’t suit you and you don’t have your own vehicle, it’s easy to catch a Dubai Taxi or Uber/Careem to Dubai Miracle Garden.

There is a taxi rank at the main park entrance for your return journey.

What does it cost to visit Miracle Garden?

The more popular the gardens have become, the prices have significantly increased over the seasons. There’s been yet another huge price hike for winter 2023-24. You can now expect to pay:

Adults (12 years + including seniors) 100 AED
Child (3 to 12 years) 85 AED
Infant (under 3 years) FREE
People of determination FREE

The other alternative is to go with an organized tour that will assist you with hotel pick-ups and ticket purchasing. You could try:

Klook offers a door-to-door service that can also be combined with Dubai Global Village or the Dubai Frame for a complete outing with a driver.
Also on Klook, combine a full day city tour with tickets to Miracle Garden; this will include photo opportunities at many of the city’s most iconic landmarks, a great choice for Dubai visitors who love their photos.
Viator offers several transfer options, as well as combined tickets with entry to Global Village and other Dubai attraction deals, either shared transfers or private vehicles; see below:

Dubai Miracle Garden Timings

As you can imagine, being an outdoor attraction in Dubai, the opening hours are seasonal, though the season is getting longer each year. Previously opening in late October, we’re seeing an open date for Dubai Garden Glow in September 2023.

Dubai Miracle Garden opening times are:

Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM

Frequently Asked Questions for Dubai Miracle Garden

When is the best time to visit Miracle Garden?

The best time to visit Dubai Miracle Garden is early in the day before the crowds arrive. You will have a much better chance of taking photos uninterrupted and can take your time to enjoy the displays.

We also recommend visiting in the coolest part of the year, at the start and end of the season, you can get a little bit of dieback. Visit outside of the main school holiday times for even fewer crowds – mid-January through to February weekdays are best.

Is there food available in Dubai Miracle Garden?

Yes, there are several food outlets within the park, catering to all tastes, from Indian and Middle Eastern restaurants to more western-style food, ice creams, popcorn, you name it!

Note that barbeques are not allowed in the park, and no outside food and beverage is allowed (this has changed since the earlier seasons) – this will be checked by security on arrival.

Can I take a stroller/pushchair to Dubai Miracle Garden?

Yes, most of the park is well maintained, with flat pathways. There’s a lot of walking involved, so you will be grateful for having a good stroller. There are only a few spots with stairs you may need to carry your infants, but you can navigate the vast majority of the park with wheels.

Can I take bikes/scooters into Dubai Miracle Garden?

No, these are not permitted. Only infant strollers or wheelchairs for the elderly and People of Determination are permitted.

Is there a seniors discount for Dubai Miracle Garden

No, a seniors discount isn’t common in the UAE. Unless they have a disability and can be classified as a Person of Determination, seniors will need to pay the full adult price at Dubai Miracle Garden.

Can we pick any of the flowers at Dubai Miracle Garden?

No, this is strictly prohibited. Anyone caught damaging the gardens or acting inappropriately in the gardens will be asked to leave immediately.

Does my Dubai Miracle Garden Ticket get me into the Butterfly Garden?

No, although the two attractions are adjacent to one another, each has a separate entry ticket.

Can I do a professional photoshoot within the gardens?

You must apply to management in advance if you would like to take any sort of professional photos within Dubai Miracle Garden, this includes wedding shots, modelling, TV & marketing promotions,

How do they keep Miracle Garden so lush and green in the desert?

The gardens use sub-surface irrigation systems that recycle wastewater – this is greywater from Dubai Municipality that is filtered again before using in the gardens. The garden is watered overnight, using some 200,000 gallons a day.

Who designed Dubai Miracle Garden?

The original design and development are by Al Ain-based Akar Landscaping & Agriculture Company.

Is Miracle Garden the largest flower garden in the world?

By all sources we can find, yes, it has the largest number of blooms of any flower garden in the world at an estimated 150 million blooms, 120 different species. The physical size of the gardens at 19 hectares is NOT the largest in square footage, they just pack the most in!

What other world records does Dubai Miracle Garden hold?

Dubai Miracle Garden has earned several Guinness World Records for the largest vertical garden (2013) and the world’s largest floral sculpture forming the shape of an Airbus A380 (2016) as well as the tallest (18m) Topiary Sculpture (2018).

Are there any hotels near Dubai Miracle Garden?

Should you wish to stay near Dubai Miracle Garden, you could stay in the area known as Motor City or Dubai Studio City. Hotels such as Studio One Hotel and Park Inn by Radisson Blu are the closest to Dubai Miracle Garden (though not within walking distance).

Your best choice may be to stay at a hotel attached to or near to Mall of the Emirates and enjoy the public bus connection. We could recommend Sheraton Mall of the Emirates or at a lower budget but excellent value Rose Park Hotel Al Barsha.

Dubai Garden Glow has closed for Season 10 and will be returning after the summer with a new location! The information here pertains to the previous location at Zabeel Park

This illuminated park is definitely one not to miss when visiting Dubai with the kids in the cooler winter months – from giant glowing jellyfish to luscious love tunnels and a ferocious T-Rex. Yes, all at one venue!!!

Dubai Garden Glow is one of the top Dubai winter attractions you need to get on your bucket list!

There are four attractions in one place to enjoy inside Dubai Garden Glow in the central city location of Zabeel Park:

Glow Park: Made of over one million energy-saving bulbs and recycled luminous fabric, the glow garden features dozens of exciting and enchanting exhibits created by artists worldwide.
Dinosaur Park: A display of more than 120 very realistic animatronic dinosaurs.
Fantasy Park: Amazing floral structures mixed with illumination

Who would Dubai Garden Glow suit?

This is a great winter evening experience to enjoy with children and friends, and even as a romantic treat.

It gets very busy, especially on the weekends (Friday and Saturday nights). If you are visiting from overseas, it’s better to pick another night. We strongly recommend you pack a bucket load of patience if you’re waiting for some of the best photos.

And yes, you will find yourself taking hundreds of photos. We strongly recommend bringing your backup battery pack.

Top Tip: With young children, we recommend you head there early when the gates open. First, enjoy Dinosaur Park, perhaps stop for a bite to eat, and play in the playground. Then, catch the sunset, and Glow Park will come to life before the bulk of the crowd arrives after dark. You will definitely want a stroller, as a lot of walking is involved.

Opening Times for Dubai Garden Glow

Season 10 commenced in late September 2024 and will run through Dubai’s winter months until approximately May 2025 – the exact closing date is TBC, but they are running a longer season every year now!

It is open 7 days a week. Glow Garden timings are:

Sunday to Friday, 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm (last tickets 10:00 pm)
Saturday & Public Holidays, 5:00 pm to 12 midnight (last tickets 11:00 pm)

Ticket Prices for Dubai Garden Glow

You can purchase your tickets online in advance, or you can pay at the gate; but be warned, as the evening gets busy, you will face queues.

All tickets online for adults & children are now AED 78.75 (including VAT)
The Magic Park is an additional AED 45
Children under 3 years old/1.2m, over 65 years old and People of Determination are free

Note that standard tickets give you access to Dinosaur Park + Glow Park + Fantasy Park.

How to Get to Dubai Garden Glow

Dubai Garden Glow Location: Zabeel Park, Gate No 6 & 7.

Taxis are the easiest way to get to and from Dubai Garden Glow. They will drop you off at Gate 6/7 at Zabeel Park, and there is a taxi queue outside the exit for pickups.

The nearest Metro stop is Max on the Red Line – but it’s a fair walk. The nearest bus station is Al Jafilia.

If you are driving and parking, be mindful that the car park quickly fills up, especially on weekends. You could end up with quite a long walk if you don’t get a spot near the gate.

A trip to Dubai Garden Glow can also be combined with a trip to nearby Dubai Frame, a walk across Zabeel Park and under the freeway.

Where to stay near Dubai Garden Glow

There are plenty of accommodation options close to Dubai Garden Glow. You can stay at a nearby hotel and walk during the cooler months. You are about a 12-minute walk away from the Novotel World Trade Centre, or the Ibis One Central is a good budget choice for families.

Other things you may need to know when planning a trip to the Glow Garden

There are food and beverage outlets inside the Parks
You can no longer bring in your own food and drink for a picnic, including no alcohol

Babymoon Bliss in Dubai: Pamper Yourself Before Parenthood

Searching for the right place for that special time before the arrival of a new baby can be challenging. It’s hard to find the right mix of weather, accommodation, things to do, and space and time to relax and connect while also accessing good healthcare should the need arise. Well, Dubai might have you covered for all of these, and some!

Whether it’s your first baby and this will be your last solo holiday as a couple, or perhaps this is a subsequent child and you are taking the last vacation, the three of you will enjoy it. We will find something you love about Dubai!

And babymoons don’t just need to be with your baby daddy!! Why not take your best girlfriend along or another baby mama-to-be and spoil yourselves together! After all life will never be quite the same again!

Why is Dubai an Excellent Location for a Babymoon?

With brilliant winter sunshine, top-class accommodation, and first-rate health care, Dubai is a great place for a memorable and relaxing babymoon.

The Weather

Whilst the high heat of summer isn’t recommended for expectant mothers from cooler climates, Dubai is a fantastic babymoon destination during the cooler months (October to March).

October can still be rather humid, but from November to February, Dubai experiences almost perfect weather with sunny skies and lower levels of humidity. Expect temperatures around 25-30°C (75 – 86°F) during the winter. March can be a bit hit and miss, as if it is going to rain in the UAE, it always seems to be in March!

Things start to heat up in April, so you need to think carefully about travelling in April or May and how good your heat tolerance is. June, July, August, and September are extremely hot, and for your comfort, we’d not recommend a Dubai babymoon over the summer.

The Accommodation

Dubai has some of the world’s best luxury resorts where you can mix beach time with a little pampering. Some of the city’s resorts feel like you’re a million miles away from it all, whilst you’re just a stone’s throw from all of the action. Many hotels have free shuttle buses taking you to Dubai’s major sites. Travelling by taxi is also cheap and easy in Dubai.

Air Conditioning

All indoor spaces in Dubai are air-conditioned, making it easy to cool down if you feel like you may be getting too warm. Places like Dubai Mall offer the chance to walk around and shop in a comfortable temperature. Public transport and taxis are also all air-conditioned.

Romantic Experiences

Dubai is full of romantic places to enjoy with your loved ones. Whether it’s a stroll through a park or garden or sundowners at an atmospheric bar by the beach, Dubai has plenty of places where you can feel the love. (Just be careful, though, as overt public displays of affection are not allowed. Anything more than hand-holding or a peck on the cheek in public could get you in big trouble – see Dubai’s do’s and don’ts)

A Less Boozy Culture

As much of the country is Muslim and does not drink, bartenders are talented in the mocktail department so that pregnant mamas won’t miss out on their fancy drinks!

Smoking in public places is not common in Dubai. Locals tend to favour shisha, but this can only be smoked on specially licensed premises, which pregnant women are forbidden to enter. Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed public spaces, parks, beaches, buses and on the metro. It is also illegal to smoke in an indoor private space or vehicle in the presence of children.

Food and Hygiene

Not only will you find some of your favourite Western chain restaurants (to satisfy all those cravings) in Dubai (Cheesecake Factory, IHOP, Wagamama, Pizza Express), but you’ll also find high food hygiene standards. If you’re sticking to a particular diet throughout pregnancy, you’ll be relieved to know that all menus are written in English and that you’ll be able to discuss any dietary requirements with ease, as everybody working in the food and beverage industry speaks English.

Excellent Healthcare

We all hope that a visit to the doctor shouldn’t be needed when away on holiday, but during pregnancy, doctor visits are a lot more likely! Should you need to visit a doctor in Dubai, rest assured that the UAE’s healthcare standard is second to none.

Pregnancy Tips Travelling to Dubai

If you are pregnant, we recommend that you bring your marriage certificate with you. It’s no longer an offence to have a baby outside of wedlock in the UAE, but having the correct documentation with you can make things operate more smoothly should you need healthcare.

Taking other kids on your Babymoon?

Whilst ideally, your Babymoon is just you and your partner enjoying some precious final few moments alone, understandably, not everyone is in a position to have a child on tap. If this is the case, Dubai is one of those locations that can still perfectly blend romance with family needs and family activities.

Things You Can Do on Your Babymoon in Dubai

Sightseeing tour

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t go sightseeing on your trip to Dubai. A visit to the air-conditioned Dubai Mall can also include visiting the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. The lift can be a little pushy and shoved, but you can ask for assistance if needed, and if you’re obviously pregnant, people are likely to be kind.

Another famous sight that you can enjoy after a trip to Dubai Mall is the mesmerising Dubai Mall Fountain show. This can be viewed from the promenade, or if you’d rather sit down, book a table at one of the nearby restaurants with fabulous fountain views, or for a little romantic touch, you can hire an abra and head out onto the water (don’t worry, very slow moving!)

Take a stroll

There are plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy in Dubai for a long stretch of your legs, as well as al fresco dining and outdoor entertainment. Some favourites to try on your Dubai Babymoon include:

A stroll through Dubai Miracle Garden which can make a fun, romantic outing with some perfect photo spots for couples.
The Walk JBR – A lovely marina sidewalk with access to plenty of places to sit down and have a cold drink.
Al Seef and Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood – a stroll around these connected neighbourhoods will help you to get under the skin of Dubai.

Bask by the Pool or Beach

Even if your budget can’t afford a resort throughout your trip, why not spoil yourselves with a day pass to one of the luxury beach clubs or pools? Especially during the week, you can nab yourself a deal where your entrance will cover your F&B too.

Memorable Photo Shoot

A growing trend amongst expats in the UAE is to have a pregnancy photo shoot. These can be arranged in various places, including the desert, Miracle Garden and the Palm Jumeirah.

If you’re interested in a pregnancy photo shoot, a few recommendations we regularly see pop up in local groups include:

Have a Spa day

Whilst massages are not advised before 12 and after 32 weeks of pregnancy, in the 2nd and early 3rd trimesters, they can offer welcome respite from the strains of pregnancy. Spa staff are used to making adjustments for pregnant ladies, and most hotels offer special massages and other treatments for expecting ladies.

You do not have to stay at a hotel to use its spa facilities. Another option outside of a hotel is Sensasia Spa, which offers a range of treatments for mums (and dads-to-be).

Retail Therapy

I bet you’re busting to get some gear for your new arrival, and you will find a HUGE range of baby products. Particularly if you are a fan of high-end labels – you name it – you can probably get it in Dubai.

For those on a lower budget, you’re well catered for too, with the likes of Mothercare, Centrepoint and Max.

Take a trip to Abu Dhabi

There’s lots to do and see in the UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, around a 1.5-hour drive from Dubai. Why not explore the beautiful Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the UAE’s presidential palace Qasr Al Watan, or delve into Abu Dhabi’s rich history at Qasr Al Hosn?

We recommend taking a tour or hiring a car when pregnant to take any stress out of the journey.

Whilst there are sometimes queues for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and some considerable walking (in underground air-conditioned corridors), special provisions are made for pregnant ladies. The same is true of the Qasr Al Watan.

What not to do on a Dubai Babymoon

Whilst you may be keen to explore Dubai to the extreme, there are a few activities in Dubai we’d recommend against:

Water activities and extreme sports

Skip all the extreme water sports, and the speed boat too, If you re going to hit the waters, look for a gentle swim in the water (bearing in mind sea temperature in winter can actually be a little nippy)! Outdoor pools tend to be heated or cooled depending on the outdoor temperature and there are some hotels with indoor swimming pools too!

We’re sorry but you also wont be allowed on most theme park rides so it’s probably best to give places like Motiongate a miss. Whilst you could get away with the Legoland Water Park if you were on a family babymoon, it’s prudent to avoid the big parks as they are really are not suitable for pregnant ladies.

Desert Safari

Avoid desert safaris, too. Most involve an element of dune bashing to get to your camp. Pregnant women are strictly prohibited from participating in the dune bashing element for obvious reasons.

However, if you’d still like to enjoy dinner in the desert, speak to your tour operator. Often, they can arrange a different route for pregnant women and small children to enter the camp. Alternatively, try one of the operators in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. They can offer romantic dune dinners and luxury glamping, which is a far more sedate and serene way to experience the desert.

Our favourite pick, though, would be to spend a night at Al Maha, A Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, where you can sit in your own beautiful infinity pool overlooking the desert (be warned, though, it’s at the pricier end of the budget scale!)

Emergency Help in Dubai for Pregnant Ladies

No one expects to go into labour during their babymoon, but should something happen, and you’d like to see an emergency gynaecologist, there are several choices, many of them open 24/7. You could try:

Last but not least, let us introduce you to one of the most romantic places in Dubai; The Love Lakes! Almost too good to be true, but no, these are not photoshopped! They are indeed human-made lakes in the shape of two interconnecting love hearts in the Dubai desert’s rolling dunes.

Anantara Desert Islands Resort & Spa (Abu Dhabi Emirate)

Where do you find Anantara Desert Islands Resort & Spa

Located on Sir Bani Yas Island, to the west of Abu Dhabi, you take the E11 from Dubai, continue past Abu Dhabi city, and turn off at Ruwais for the Jebel Dhanna Jetty. This journey takes about 3 hours. From Jebel Dhanna, a luxury ferry makes the 20-minute journey across to Sir Bani Yas Island, and it’s another 15-minute minivan journey across the island to your resort – all transfers from the port included.

What to expect at Anantara Desert Islands Resort & Spa

One of the most truly unique opportunities you will get on a Dubai trip is heading west of the UAE. Sir Bani Yas Island is home to one of the country’s largest nature reserves. Along with the main hotel resort complex on Sir Bani Yas, you can also enjoy a private luxury villa at one of their sister resorts on the island, Al Yamm Villa Resort and Al Sahel Villa Resort.

The island itself is largely a nature reserve, home to more than 10,000 freely roaming animals, from gazelles and oryx to cheetahs and giraffes. The hotel will arrange a 4×4 nature and wildlife tour for you.

Apart from the animals, enjoy uninterrupted sea views to the Arabian Gulf, pool and beach access, and a great range of restaurants and bars from the Palm & Savannah Gill buffet dining to Amwaj seafood on the beach, Olio Restaurant and lounge Italian beachfront dining, and Al-Shams Middle Eastern cuisine poolside. Al Wadi Desert Resort is accessible from the E311, about 90 km from Downtown Dubai and DXB airport. It’s just over the border into the Ras Al Khaimah Emirate, where the rolling red dunes start, about a one-hour drive from DXB. The hotel also offers a shuttle service directly from DXB airport, or private door-to-door transfers can be arranged.

Another beautiful and unique desert resort in the UAE, bathed in luxury and hands-on nature experiences. Perfect for families, couples, or a group of friends, the resort consists of 101 Bedouin-style individual villas, each with its own private pool.

Set within Wadi Khadeja, a 500-hectare nature reserve, there is an excellent lineup of recreation opportunities such as daily falconry shows, desert safaris, nature walks, and archery on offer. Situated just off the E44 on the Dubai to Hatta Road (Margham), Al Badayer is in the Emirate of Sharjah, approximately 40 minutes from Downtown Dubai.

What to expect at Mysk Al Badayer Retreat

A very new luxury tented camp, including breakfast and a swimming pool, is located technically in neighbouring Emirate Sharjah, as the borders crisscross inconspicuously across the desert. There are 21 on-site rooms and ten tents, making it a small and intimate luxury setting, as opposed to a sprawling resort, located close to “Big Red,” one of the country’s largest sand dunes.

Although it’s not as elaborate as some other examples, it is relatively close to the city and DXB airport, offering an attractive experience for first-timers seeking a unique desert getaway with charming Bedouin touches. You will still find on-site a health club, indoor pool, and a wellness focus to your visit, as well as outdoor recreation activities from desert safaris to camel trekking and quad biking.

Dining is at the Kulo Emirati restaurant or Caravan international eatery, and nightfall offers uninterrupted starlit skies in this utterly tranquil desert setting. (NB Sharjah is a dry Emirate; no alcohol is served.)

The hotel’s architecture harks to Thai temples, a theme that extends through the spa and 50-meter infinity pool, as well as the resort’s huge lagoon-style pools that interconnect through the resort. What makes Anantara the Palm unique is the UAE’s only overwater villas, with a glass floor so you can view the marine life beneath. If you want that added privacy, private beachfront villas have their own pool.

Bab Al Shams, Al Qudra

Situated approximately 50km outside of the city, Bab Al Shams offers one of Dubai’s truly unique experiences with a stunning infinity pool overlooking the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. With Arabic styling throughout, this is truly one of our favourite unique pools to experience in Dubai.

The resort offers day passes and a Friday brunch in addition to overnight stays (so mid-week is much quieter if you want to avoid the crowds). Your stay can be combined with many outdoor adventure activities, including jeep and camel rides for a fun afternoon out in the desert before retreating to shimmering sunset views.

Aura Sky Pool, Palm Tower

The world’s first and highest 360-degree infinity pool opened at the Palm Tower in November 2021. Unlike most of the infinity pools on our list, Aura Sky Pool is not attached to a hotel, it is purely for day use by paying guests.

Only opening in September 2019, FIVE Jumeirah Village (sister hotel to popular clubbing hotel FIVE Palm Jumeirah) became an instant hit on the party scene, mainly because of the fact this circular high-rise hotel has – wait for it – 269 private swimming pools!

No longer a luxury reserved just for the penthouse suite, FIVE offers one-bedroom suites with terrace jacuzzis through to two and four-bedroom apartment options with private swimming pools. Where is JBR?

Although technically JBR – Jumeirah Beach Residences – refers only to a collection of buildings sitting adjacent to Dubai Marina and The Beach, the whole area that stretches from Bluewaters Island on one side to the newly constructed Dubai Harbour to the east is colloquially known as JBR.

Visitors to JBR can enjoy the Arabian Gulf’s soft white sands and easily access the beautiful and cosmopolitan Dubai Marina area. The Walk, the main beachfront road, dominates, and The Beach is the most popular feature.

However, there are many dining and retail attractions to enjoy, making it a trendy and popular area of the city for holidaymakers – you can find our complete guide to things to do in JBR here.

Many resorts at the eastern end of JBR (beyond The Walk) enjoy private beach frontage, while hotels in the heart of JBR access the public beachfront from across The Walk. The beach is free to access, but you pay to use the deck chair and umbrella services.

Dubai Marina and JBR offer excellent transport connections, including the Dubai Tram servicing the Marina and Media City areas, connection to the Metro Red Line, RTA Bus, and Water Bus services.

You are also adjacent to the E11 Sheikh Zayed Road for connection to Downtown Dubai to the east and westward to Jebal Ali (Dubai Parks & Resorts theme parks) and Abu Dhabi.

JBR is approximately 25 minutes to DXB (Dubai International Airport) and 30 minutes to DWC (Al Maktoum International Airport). You can see a complete Dubai Transport guide here.

Thiptara – Found in Palace Downtown, this is where you’ll get some of the finest Thai dining in the city and the best seats in town to the nightly Dubai Fountain show.
Ossiano – Head under the sea, well, not quite, but enjoy underwater dining at Atlantis while overlooking the incredible Lost Chambers Aquarium (Bonus Tip: If you’re looking to propose in Dubai, a diver can deliver your message through the tank!)

Morning – Ready to start the day outside? Head to Dubai’s Miracle Garden for the picture-perfect setting with your partner. Millions of blooms await with plentiful floral archways and stunningly crafted displays for the insta-perfect way to capture your romantic weekend in Dubai.

For lunch, head to the waterfront area of Al Seef. In the area of town where “old meets new”, you’ll find a wide variety of waterfront restaurants here, from traditional Emirati cuisine to vegetarian choices. Legal requirements for getting married in Dubai.

There are a set of legal pre-marital requirements and procurers that need to be completed for a marriage to be recognised in Dubai.

Although some rules differ depending on the couple’s nationalities and religion, every couple needs to provide the following:

The bride’s approval
Couple’s valid passports
Couple’s visa status
Atleast one person in the marriage contract must have a valid UAE residence visa. This can be either the groom, the bride of the bride’s guardian.
The bride and groom both must provide positive pre-marital health screening certificates, issued by DHA primary healthcare centres. The screening is a mandatory requirement and done to limit the risk of spreading communicable and inherited diseases. Obtaining the certificate costs AED 260.

The rules for a Muslim marriage are different from those of non-Muslims.

Muslim marriages must be conducted at a UAE Sharia Court or via authorised marriage officers (Mazoons) appointed by the Ministry of Justice, where the marriage takes place in accordance with the Sharia law. An application for a marriage contract and its payment, of AED 200 must be done beforehand.

Regardless of the couple’s nationalities, at the Islamic marriages, both the bride and groom must be present, along with the bride’s father and at least two Muslim witnesses.

There are specific rules in place if one of the partners practices a religion other than Islam, and best to check it with the UAE Sharia Court.

Non-muslim couples getting married in Dubai need to have their nuptials registered at their respective embassies or consultants of their home countries. Depending on the couple’s nationality, the embassy or consulate may have other specific requirements and documents to submit, in order for getting married in Dubai, so it is advisable to check these beforehand.

Documentation from the home country needs to be approved by the UAE Foreign Ministry. The religious nuptials can take place in the place of worship as per the couple’s religion.

Can You Visit the Burj Al Arab? Inside Dubai’s Most Exclusive Hotel

It is one of the most exquisite and beautiful buildings in Dubai, but what do you actually know about the Burj Al Arab?

Insider tips on how to get into Dubai’s most exclusive address

The stunning sail silhouette is symbolic of one of the world’s most luxurious and exclusive hotels – complete with its own helipad no less. It is also renowned for being hopelessly difficult to get into for a sneaky peek!

You must be a guest of the hotel, but there are plenty of ways you can do this without actually staying the night – though be warned it certainly won’t be the cheapest thing you do in Dubai, whatever way you play it! (But we’ll share with you below one option under $30 USD!)

Burj al Arab – a Seven-Star hotel?

OK, we should all know by now there’s no such thing as a seven-star hotel, but where did the catchphrase come from? It was actually first expressed by a journalist when reviewing the newly opened Burj Al Arab in 1999 but clearly left a lasting impression.

Whilst classifications in Dubai – regulated by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing – only give the hotel a 5-star rating, even the Jumeirah group who run the hotel still refer to their “7-star service” in their marketing; so you decide!

So can you get inside the Burj al Arab?

The million-dollar question! The hotel is NOT open to walk-in visits from non-paying guests – and don’t even attempt it; you will be stopped by security well before you are near the building.

However, you need not stay the night in any of the Burj al Arab suites (they are too posh for hotel rooms). Instead, you could try booking in at one of the restaurants or bars for an indulgent treat or entering on a recreation day pass. We will look at each in turn:

The easiest way into Burj al Arab is to book an afternoon tea

The restaurants themselves in the Burj al Arab, as you can imagine, are masterpieces before you even get to the food.

The Muntaha Restaurant and Skyview Bar and Restaurant are located on the 27th floor. 200m high they both reward visitors with amazing panoramic views of Dubai’s beaches, the Dubai Marina, the Palm Jumeirah, and in the distance the skyline of Downtown Dubai.

There are two afternoon tea restaurants with several variations available at Burj al Arab:

Sky Tea is served in the Skyview lounge

Perched on the 27th floor of this iconic building, this is one of the most elaborate Afternoon Tea experiences in Dubai. Try date juice and exotic savouries before moving on to a delectable selection of sweets. There are options for a 5-course menu, or why not go all out and treat yourself to the 7-course option with champagne and caviar?

There are two seatings daily, the first is at 1:00 pm and another at 4:00 pm. The afternoon tea costs from 500 AED for adults and 315 AED for children (aged 8+).

Be warned if this is on your agenda it can sometimes book out weeks in advance, especially if you are eyeing up popular celebration dates. You pay an additional fee of 100 AED per person to be seated beside a window.

Afternoon Tea at Sahn Eddar

There is a second luxurious 7-course afternoon tea held on the 1st floor at the Sahn Eddar restaurant. The beautiful mosaics, marble floor, fountains and torches create an alluringly beautiful Middle Eastern atmosphere in the magnificent hotel lobby. Enjoy pastries, cakes and the finest teas and coffees you can imagine.

The afternoon tea is served from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and starts from 550 AED.

A 3-course High Tea is then held at Sahn Eddar, commencing at 7:00 pm.

Throughout the day there is also the option of their “Sweet Indulgences” packages offering a seasonal cake with mocktail or signature gold cappuccino for 280 AED per person.

Dress Code for High Tea or Afternoon Tea at Burj Al Arab

As you can imagine for such an opulent hotel there is a strict dress code in keeping with luxury and Muslim standards. You really need to dress for the occasion when you attend a Burj al Arab dining experience.

This means strictly no torn jeans, shirts without sleeves, translucent clothing, or gym gear. Gentleman are requested to wear a collared shirt, full-length trousers, and closed shoes.

As always for women in Dubai, respect the rules of no excessive cleavage, covered shoulders, no short skirts. Women are requested to wear a suit or dress, long skirt or dressy slacks and top. UAE National Dress is welcome.

Lunch and Dinner at Burj Al Arab

There are several other dining options at Burj al Arab to look out for at both lunch and dinner time across the Burj Al Arab’s diverse range of restaurants.

Al Muntaha

Specialising in French cuisine, Al Muntaha offers a weekend Brunch experience with the international buffet “Le Grand Petit Dejeuner“, described as ” an innovative interpretation of seasonal cuisine, artistically combining the finest of ingredients from around the globe into stylish masterpieces”. Situated on the 27th floor, this is one of Dubai’s best dining experiences with a view.

There is an early bird (10:00 am to 12:00 pm) seating and the full brunch which runs 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (one of the only hotels in Dubai we know where Brunch actually starts in the morning! ). Priced at 695 AED, which in 5-star Dubai brunch terms isn’t actually too bad!

They are also open for lunch and dinner throughout the week. For a greater sample of what’s on offer, you can enjoy a 4-course contemporary French lunch, or a luxury 5 or 7-course offering starting from 550 AED per person.

Dinner in the stunning aquarium restaurant

Al Mahara Aquarium Restaurant is an exquisite and unmissable touch if you are looking for the ultimate wow factor. Enjoy a 4, 5 or 7-course menu on the ground floor of Burj Al Arab. You will feel like you are dining under the sea in this exquisite one-of-a-kind restaurant, with naturally the best seafood menu you could imagine. It’s mocktails only though starting from 550 AED.

Al Iwan Restaurant

If you are looking for a traditional Arabic feed to pair perfectly with your extravagant Middle Eastern experience, look no further than Al Iwan Restaurant. Situated with views of the incredible hotel atrium, enjoy a selection of hot and cold Arabic mezze over lunch from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Bab Al Yam

The family-friendly dining option at the hotel – as casual as it gets is Bab al Yam. One of the only restaurants to let under 8’s in for the dinner time sitting.

Junsui

A final dining option is Junsui, the hotels Far East Asian cuisine offering. As far as we are aware there are no special packages, just a delectable a la carte menu and setting to enjoy.

A little bit of everything? The Culinary Flight

Enjoy the culinary flight which will see you enjoying starters at Al Muntaha, followed by a main course at Al Mahara and mouth-watering mixology and dessert at Gold on 27. The package lasts from 7:00 pm to midnight for a princely sum of 1500 AED per person – a superb special occasion idea to wow your loved one.

Enjoy sundowner drinks from the Burj al Arab

If you don’t fancy shelling out for a meal, there are a couple of drink package options that will see you past security and into the Burj Al Arab – one which might even work on a budget!

Skyview Bar Beverage Package

Once afternoon tea is done and dusted, there are half-hourly slots to book yourself a spot at the Skyview bar and enjoy the views at sunset while sipping on a mocktail and a cocktail prepared by one of their resident mixologists. It still doesn’t come cheap, however, from 330 AED per person.

Gold on 27

Now, this is the one we’ve been dying to share with you. Arguably the cheapest way to enjoy “7-star service” and still enjoy the ambience and experience of being inside the Burj Al Arab. NB since COVID temporarily closed.

All you need to do is head to the Gold on 27 website and select your number of guests and prefered time slot. This will get you your reservation confirmation. The Sundown on 27 menu which includes two drinks and one appetizer is 250 AED per person BUT you only need to make a minimum spend of 200 AED. Appetizers are priced at around 60 to 100 AED and cocktails around 100 AED to 140 AED.

Due to Gold on 27’s position in the hotel, yes you’re on the 27th floor, but you won’t get much of a view outside. You do get to travel through the exquisite hotel lobby to arrive at the bar and stake your claim to fame you have BEEN to the Burj al Arab!

This is the cheapest way we know to get into the Burj al Arab! (But let us know in the comments below if you think there’s a trick we’re missing!)

Guided Tour of Burj Al Arab

New in 2021, Jumeirah Group have launched a 90-minute butler-guided tour of the Burj Al Arab.

There will be morning, day, sunset and evening tour options. These can be taken in conjunction with other bookings at the hotel restaurants, or just take the tour on its own for an exclusive inside look at one of Dubai’s most luxurious and extravagant buildings.

This summer, they have introduced a ‘tour and sunset drinks’ offer which includes a complimentary drink at UMA Lounge of the Observation lounge, available after 5pm, until August 29th, 2025.

Pool day passes for Burj Al Arab

In addition to dining experiences, another way to enjoy the Burj al Arab is to consider a day pass, which allows access to the exquisite pool and recreation facilities.

The Burj Al Arab Terrace is famously one of the most beautiful in the world. A triangular deck that juts out from the base of the Burj al Arab, there are two infinity pools, designed to make it look as though you are floating above the Arabian Gulf waters.

The Terrace prices for non-hotel guests don’t come cheap, however. Prices start at 2,000 AED to rent a cabana for one day, with prices as high as 7,000 AED.

The cabanas are as luxurious as you might expect, though from a “7-star” resort. They come decked out with your own coffee machine, mini-bar, dining and spa menus, sound system, television, air-conditioning, and sunbeds.

Another moderately cheaper option is “A Day at the Terrace”, pool access accompanied by a 3-course lunch at Scape, the Mediterranean poolside restaurant.

Other ways to see the Burj Al Arab from outside.

Without a reservation, you won’t be allowed to approach the hotel, even just to take a few photos for Instagram (despite what some reputable travel sites may have suggested). It’s a big fat no, no matter how charming you think you are!

If you are like most of us mere mortals though and budget will not stretch to even a drink at the Burj Al Arab, your best bet is to head along to Umm Suqeim (Also known as Sunset Beach, or the Burj Beach) and here you can have some fun taking you snaps with the Burj from afar.

As close as most visitors will get to the Burj Al Arab (NB, this view is no longer possible, obscured by many new developments along the beach – we still love it for prosperity sake!)

We also love the view from Souk Madinat Jumeirah. The beautiful canals make the perfect setting for viewing arguably the most stunning and luxurious hotel in the world.

The most exciting way to see the Burj Al Arab from outside, though, is to take a tour on the water! Adrenaline lovers will want to check out jet ski options or opt for a luxury yacht tour to experience the high life.

Since opening in November 2018, Love Lake Dubai has been an irresistible place to visit for anyone with romance in their heart. It is a hot spot for families, singles, and young couples, each one of them leaving with at least a few Instagram-worthy pictures of this location.

Located in the middle of an arid desert known as Al Qudra (Al Marmoon Desert Conservation Reserve), Love Lakes Dubai is a large area of two intertwined heart-shaped lakes, surrounded by sand dunes and fauna.

The two lake hearts cover an area of over 550,000 square meters. It’s so vast that the shape of the lakes can only be viewed from the sky. However, you won’t be disappointed with the time you spend here, because every inch of the space is dedicated to love with the word ‘l-o-v-e’ spelled out and heart shape signs and motifs everywhere you look.

This idyllic location goes on to support Dubai’s eco-tourism by being a place that utilises nature at its best. You will see eco-friendly materials being utilised in the best way, from signposts on wooden boards to gateways and walls built from natural stones and unique bamboo water sinks.

Away from the bustling city life, Love Lakes Dubai is a peaceful oasis to surround yourself with nature and enjoy some quiet time. You’ll find here many different kinds of colourful flowers, varieties of shrubs, and over 16,000 different trees, including olives and the dessert staple ghaf trees.

What can you do at Love Lake?

You mean, apart from taking the most stunning selfies and Instagram-worthy pictures at various spots around the lakes?

The rubber track around the lakes with the beautiful foliage around, almost 7km in length, allows for a wonderful stroll and jog.

Take the opportunity to dip your feet and walk across the shallow parts of the lakes. You may even spot some fishes and ducks.

Get your binoculars out for some bird watching while you spot native and even migratory birds, or simply sit on the ‘love’ benches while you hear them sing.

Light up one of the fire pits and enjoy a barbecue with your family or simply roll out your picnic spread while the kids ride their bikes.

More than anything, this place is the perfect spot to catch a beautiful sunset with your loved ones. With no high-rise buildings to block views, you get uninterrupted views of the beautiful orange sky, as the sun sets over the dunes. Hang around till after sunset and you may even get to spot twinkling stars and constellations as you look up into the night sky.

Things to know before visiting Love Lake:

Use of a drone to capture aerial views of the lakes requires prior permission and the need to carry appropriate documents.
Feeding the wildlife, including fishes and birds, is strictly prohibited.
You can only have barbecues and light campfires at the designated spots.
There is no cafe, dining or drinking water facility available in the area.
Very limited washroom facilities are available and only located in the car park area.
Make sure you carry garbage bags to dispose of waste, as any form of littering is not allowed and may cause harm to the environment.
If planning to stay through the evening, it is advisable to get warm clothes as it can get quite chilly.

Access to the Love Lake is 24 hours.

Love Lake Dubai location

Love Lakes Dubai is located along the Al Qudra Road (D63), approximately a 45- minute drive away from Dubai. Al Qudra Road can be easily accessed via Dubai-Al Ain Road (E66) or Emirates Road (E611), depending on which way you are coming from.

You will need to drive your own vehicle to get there – learn more tips for driving in Dubai and hiring a car as a tourist.

To avoid getting lost, it is advisable to use Google Maps or Waze to reach the location.

There are two parking areas available. Although some off-road driving to the lakes is present, driving a 4×4 car is not required. If you plan to drive off-road in the neighbouring desert area, a 4×4 is recommended.

Here’s how you can make a day of it visiting Love Lake and the Marmoon Desert:

Al Qudra Cycling track

This 86km long cycling track is a popular destination among Dubai’s cyclists and fitness enthusiasts. Claimed to be one of the best cycling tracks in UAE, you will find novice cyclists, leisure riders, as well as world-class athletes using this track. Get here at sunrise and enjoy the cool morning breeze while taking in the magnificent views of the desert.

You don’t need to own a bicycle to be able to use the tracks. Simply rent one from the Trek UAE bike shop, located at the end of Al Qudra Road. If you already have one, there are two starting spots, both with dedicated parking spots for your cars. The track is popular with both professional and novice riders alike and is frequented by both individuals and groups of friends.

The cycle track offers benches and shaded areas for taking breaks, and you will find restrooms at the rental shops. Much of the track is not illuminated in the dark, so ensure careful planning ahead.

Al Qudra Lake

This place is a collection of artificial lakes surrounded by sand dunes offering a beautiful setting for barbeque, stargazing, and overnight camping. This man-made attraction is a habitat for many species of birds and other wildlife. You will be able to spot black swans, ducks, flamingos, and if you are very lucky maybe even a few free-roaming gazelles.

Al Qudra is open for 24 hours and offers its camping ground, one of the best in UAE, for free.

Al Qudra Last Exit

If looking to satisfy your food cravings, this location has snack and dining options for you to choose from. Located with an equestrian-inspired setting, this place has a drive-thru and outdoor seating options, as you grab your food from one of the food trucks, designed to look like horse trailers.

Al Qudra Last Exit also has washroom facilities and is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Whilst overnight camping is not permitted at Love Lake, there are camping areas around Al Qudra (both BYO tent and organised tour groups).

10 cute dresses you’ll want for a trip to Dubai

So you’re looking at packing for Dubai but really confused about what to wear?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone! There is so much conflicting information about what is considered modest and respectable, where is the limit between casual and distasteful?

The big thing to be aware of when you are packing for Dubai is to bring a range of outfits to suit different occasions. There’s a big difference between what you should wear in a mall or a mosque, for example vs what you could easily wear to the beach.

We have a really detailed guide covering all your frequently asked questions on how you should dress in Dubai – along with this complete packing list for Dubai – but in today’s post, we are going to specifically walk you through our favourite dress styles for Dubai.

What sort of dresses are appropriate in Dubai

Before we jump into it, just a few do’s and don’ts on the type of dress to choose for your Dubai trip:

Avoid anything that is too clingy and revealing for your daywear in public. By this, we mean no bare shoulders, no overly revealing cleavages, no see-through materials or exceptionally short dresses.
The general rule of thumb for “respectable” in Dubai means knees and shoulders covered, but there’s some give and take – no one will be standing there with a ruler. Got sleeves and your top is fairly covered? Your skirt hem can be a little higher. Long skirt? Thinner straps are ok, as long as boobs aren’t hanging out on display.
Your resort or clubwear can be a little more revealing – the shoulders and knees covered rule of thumb does NOT apply in these private spaces – but just remember how you are getting to these venues too.
Choose materials that are light and breathable, cotton and rayon material work best in Dubai. Avoid anything synthetic if you don’t want a total sweat fest!
Just beware of darker colours in the sun too, lighter colours and florals work best.

Will there be other fashion advice contrary to this? Always. Just remember, no matter how liberal the country has become, it is a Muslim country and you are a guest. Stick with what feels respectable for your setting and always be prepared to cover up if requested.

If there’s one thing you MUST include in your Dubai packing for women it is a maxi dress. We prefer designs that cover the shoulders and the top of the arms and where the V neck is not too low and leg slit not too high – a tough balancing act! Superb for the beach, sightseeing, out for dinner, and even into the desert – this should be your go-to dress style for Dubai.

2. Pocketed Midi Dresses

We love these longer and loser flowing dresses. They are more casual but still respectable for public places as they are not too clingy. And let’s not deny just how handy pockets can be when we’re travelling!

3. The Casual T-shirt Dress

Another favourite that can be dressed up or down but works well in the heat. It is more casual but great for days at the beach, around your hotel and still respectable enough for restaurants. Be cautious of length but as long as your sleeves are covered, we feel there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of extra leg.

4. The Blouse Dress

We suggest you look for rayon or a rayon mix at least to cope with the heat – though bear in mind indoor nightclubs can be freezing inside.
