The Festival of Lights is among the most exciting and colourful events in the Dubai social calendar.
Yes, Dubai is a Muslim country, but its large expatriate population of Hindu, Jain, and Sikh workers and culture of acceptance of religions and celebrations make it one of the most exciting places to be outside of India during Diwali!
This guide is still being updated for 2026 events; we have left 2025 events as a reference
When is Diwali?
The date is variable by year. It takes place during the Hindu lunisolar month of Kartika, which is usually between mid-October and mid-November on the Gregorian calendar.
In 2026, it will be celebrated on 8 November, but residents and visitors to Dubai can expect to see celebrations and events in the days and weeks surrounding.
